Egypt in April 2026 – Where is the best place to go on vacation? Weather and reviews, air and water temperature in Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, is it possible to swim, prices for air tickets and hotels, excursions, how likely is it to encounter sharks and jellyfish? What to see in Egypt in early April and closer to May, what to do and where to visit – says Eurotraveler.

You can deny it, but with each new year, April plays an increasingly important role in the vacation plans of tourists from Europe. And it’s not so important: they live in Russia, Germany, Great Britain or somewhere else.

If earlier the majority, gritting their teeth, waited with trembling and even lust for at least the arrival of May in order to rush off on vacation, today only a few are ready to endure the “extra weeks.”

And why endure it, if in practice it turned out that the middle month of spring offers a wonderful opportunity for a trip to the warm sea in terms of its combination of qualities? It’s all the more fascinating because few people will follow your example—people are conservative.

Therefore, those who take risks will receive not only “champagne”, but also something else. For example, in free mode they will eat restaurant food at their buffet, and meticulously, like a lord, choose the location of sun loungers on the beaches.

And “other people’s bodies” will not be present in juicy vacation photos. And sometimes noticeable discounts on excursions – It’s not the season – they won’t be superfluous?

What direction exactly are we talking about? Didn’t you find out?

After all, only Egypt in April and on the eve of the May holidays is able to flaunt such an impressive set of advantages! Although, of course, there are also disadvantages.

And we will tell you about them too

It will be… worse

If you are a little late with your trip, you will overpay; the final month of spring is considered very important in Egypt. in demand by time. Which is understandable – at this time there are no competitors to Sharma and Hurghada!

After all, even by the end of May the sea near Tunisia and Turkey, Cyprus will not warm up too much, there is nothing to say about European resorts. And beach destinations such as the UAE, for example, are unnecessarily expensive during this period (here – about a vacation in May in Dubai).

As for the cost of a holiday in Egypt in April, it is very humane. In some cases, so much so that you begin to suspiciously study an overly lucrative offer – do tour operators not know about the imminent arrival of May Day?

However, perhaps all this is due not only to sluggish demand, but also climatic features? Or is it related to other problems?

Like the arrival of flotillas of jellyfish? Or, for example, that shark attacks near Hurghada, and in the Red Sea in general, have become more frequent in recent years?

We have carefully studied the issue. And we can say that there are not too many pitfalls.

In any case, there are no more of them than in a much higher season!

Weather in Egypt in April

It will definitely please a person tired of an endlessly long winter. Indeed, even in early April, Egypt on the Red Sea coast almost everywhere experiences air temperatures of the order of +26-30 °C.

Demonstrating with all his appearance that he has forgotten about the (cool) winter and is quickly preparing for summer. However, at the same time and without interfering with excursions to Cairo and Luxor – when to admire the ruins, if not in moderately hot weather?!

In the Mediterranean: in Alexandria and Mersa Matruh, in mid-spring it is not too hot: up to +24-26 °C maximum. Sometimes it’s even stormy – and the drizzling rain somehow doesn’t fit into the pattern of normal Egyptian weather?

In the central and southern resorts: in Hurghada and Makadi Bay, Sharm el-Sheikh and diving Dahab, El Quseir and Marsa Alam, the sky in April literally glows with delicate turquoise. And the sun after 10 am heats up your skin so much that you urgently decide to change your daily routine or at least your dress code.

What to remember

If you underestimate the power of the Egyptian sun, you’ll need more than just sunscreen. But already remedies for burns.

Don’t forget to take with you on your vacation to the Red Sea clothes that protects the skin. And even in the morning, use different “preventive” items: from long-sleeved shirts and pareos to wide-brimmed Panama hats.

Pay special attention to children – white-skinned offspring burn especially quickly after a gloomy winter.

Temperatures of +28-32 °C are a daily reality in almost all Red Sea resorts in Egypt in mid- and late April. In the evenings, however, it’s getting colder — sometimes you have to leave the beach at +20 °C.

And walking along the evening streets is at +18 °C

In April in Egypt you can swim in the Red Sea everywhere

Such differences in April are typical for all regions of the African country. Moreover, on the banks of the Nile, in Cairo and Luxor they can be even more pronounced.

That is, during the day it’s so hot that you’ll drink all the water you’ve grabbed and curse the very idea of visiting the Luxor Temple. And closer to sunset, the rapidly approaching coolness will make you regret that you didn’t think to take a jacket with you.

What you need to know

The winds in Egypt in April are quite strong. They are not omnipotent, but sometimes unpleasant – vacationers in Hurghada and Marsa Alam especially complain about them in their reviews.

No wonder! On this coast there are no mountains or even significant seaside cliffs that could reliably cover the beach from gusts of wind.

This circumstance may, in principle, turn someone away from the trip – well, a person is not ready to shudder when swimming in the “warm sea”. But there is also an alternative opinion.

Moreover, it is quite common: the playful and elastic Egyptian spring breeze is praised. Because it prevents overheating at +30 degrees Celsius.

Considering the above, choosing the “right” hotel is a task of primary importance. After all, those hotels that are protected by the shores of bays, look south, not east, provide guests with where best conditions for taking sea baths.

And you won’t freeze when you get out after swimming. And you won’t be forced to leave the shore because of a high wave.

Among the not particularly expensive hotels in the windless Makadi Bay, we will highlight the JAZ Neo Saraya Palms. In terms of the totality of qualities, it seems to be one of the best in the resort!

Water temperature

Usually it allows you to swim, although it cannot be said that everyone without exception! After all, the Red Sea off the coast of Egypt in early April warms up to only +22-23 degrees Celsius (rarely – +24).

Few people would consider such water warm

Hotel in Hurghada in Egypt in April - you can relax at sea at this time inexpensively

Making a choice in favor of hotel pools. Which at this time, however, stop heating (in order to save money, of course).

By the third ten days of April the sea is near the coast warms up to +24-25 °C almost everywhere. Making those who made it out to Egypt at this time proud of their own insight.

Quite reasonable, by the way! After all, the vouchers are noticeably cheaper than the May ones. And judging by the statistics, sharks are taking a break everywhere.

Here are statistics on shark attacks in Egypt in 2023-2025.

There are jellyfish, and large ones at that. But they don’t sting much—or they are protecting the feelings of those who arrived at a not-so-trumpy time. Or, more likely, they have not yet gained poisonous power.

Those who have the desire and money will be able to diversify their holiday in Hurghada with excursions, trips through the desert and canyons. However, all the additional entertainment, especially in the case of a large family, will greatly increase the final cost of the vacation.

A desert safari on roaring monsters will cost 15-25 € per person. A ride on a bathyscaphe with a transparent bottom in the Red Sea will ruin you by 25-30 €.
