Egypt in March 2026 – Is it worth going on vacation? Weather in Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, reviews, water and air temperature, is it possible to swim, prices for tours, air tickets, hotels. Where is the best place to stay, what to do and what to see in Egypt during March, where to visit – says Eurotraveler.
The beginning of March is not a very positive time. In any case, in Russia… Yes, probably in the rest of the world located outside the tropics!
At first glance, the first month of spring brightens up somewhat – and not with the weather, but with smiles – World Women’s DayMarch 8th! For the rest, the soul urgently requires a holiday and a lot of positive emotions.
And in fact, it deserves it – surviving a long, if not snowy, then still extremely wet, slushy winter is almost a feat. Demanding immediate retribution.
Yes, we know, not everyone can afford a gift in the form of a trip. But in general – if we are talking about vacationing in Egypt in March – especially you’ll have to go broke. After all, if not everyone, then very many can afford to spend a similar amount on a trip (more on this below).
Moreover, in exchange for their money they will receive something much more valuable. For example, a rested look and – again – positive outlook to the world. And also on your own prospects in it.
Plus, of course, amazing, colorful impressions
Not so much from the beach holiday itself, but from excursions and trips!
After all, there are more than enough incredibly interesting places in Egypt. And not all of them managed to visit the glossy spreads of tour operator brochures.
Like this: you get a lot of useful things! And all this using a simple method – an unpopular holiday at an unpopular time.
If you have children, it’s worth scheduling it during spring break.
Are there no children, or have they grown up and gone their own way? Then feel free to travel to Egypt in March on any dates at your own discretion.
We assure you – you will not be disappointed!

Weather in Egypt in March
It may amaze those who imagine Africa as a kind of frying pan that melts and boils in the heat all 12 months of the year. After all, the air temperature in its northern part at the beginning of spring is in no way associated with the word “hot”.
Again, it still cannot “stick” to any specific values and constantly jumping.
On one day, for example, the air temperature in Hurghada in Egypt in March may not rise above +20-22 °C. And when you go on an excursion to Luxor, you will be glad if you took a thick jacket with you and wore “real” trousers rather than shorts.
On another day, right in the morning, the sun will warm up the atmosphere so actively that by noon the thermometers will reach +30 degrees Celsius!
Usually, of course, in early March in Egypt it happens no higher than +22-24 °C during the day. And about +14-18 °C – at night.
But after the end of the first decade, nuances are possible. In the form of both the same modest +22 °C and commendable +28 °C.
In general, prepare for temperature swings and take with you enough multi-polar clothing. It not only insulates the body, but also protects against burns or heat stroke.
For the sun in Egypt in March can burn as if it does not even suspect that it is only early spring outside.
- What things do people take on vacation in Egypt?
Worth remembering
Trying not to be caught by the sun’s rays is not easy – you want to swim. But it can be decided – if the sun rises at 6 am, then by 9 am you must trace the length and breadth of the water surface near the Egyptian beach
Some do freestyle, some do breaststroke.
By the way, the luminary in these parts goes to bed quite early in March – no later than 18.00 Moscow time. That is, at 17.00 pm according to Sharm el-Sheikh or Hurghada clock faces.

This is worth taking into account for the purposes of self-preservation – with the arrival of twilight, even on the coast (we’re not talking about the desert) gets cold very quickly. And late tourists have to retreat to the hotel, wrapping literally all the available bedspreads and towels around their bodies.
We will mention in a separate paragraph wind. After all, when in March – whether in Sharm el-Sheikh or in Hurghada – it blows strongly from the northern or eastern directions, not only locals cower and seek shelter – tourists also become uncomfortable.
Therefore, careful selection of the bay and hotel for relaxation at this time is the most important thing!
Hotels
For example, even in winter the wind is not allowed into the bay of the fashionable 4-star Brayka Bay Reef Resort in Marsa Alam – there is nothing to say about the beginning of spring. Therefore, you can always swim! And also go diving.
The cost of a night’s stay for two adults, although on an all-inclusive basis, is, however, too high – from 150 € per day (including taxes)!
Beach Albatros Resort – Families and couples only in Hurghada, which has its own (not a toy!) water park, received excellent reviews. Tourists also praise five-star hotels in Makadi Bay: Iberotel Makadi Beach and Jaz Makadi Saraya Palms. Located in an expensive, but essentially windless location!
In Sharm el-Sheikh, it is worth looking towards Aqua Blu Sharm El Sheikh, which is not particularly cheap, but promises good swimming. In addition, it has a decent-sized water park.
Also study the very “tasty” offer (without discounts – about 700 € for two per week) of the Novotel Sharm El-Sheikh hotel. Located in the most popular and windless – everyone knows this – Naama Bay.
How to dress
For those who like late walks and early rises, a set of warm clothes will do absolutely no harm. Not thermal underwear, of course, but a sweatshirt and thick trousers, or at least breeches, should be present in your vacation suitcase.
As well as shoes in the form of at least sneakers – wandering around Egypt in the evenings in March is a bit chilly in sandals.
It won’t hurt either thick scarf to protect against gusts of wind that raises sand tornadoes. Especially if you are going on an excursion to some canyon.

Or rent an ATV and ride through the desert as part of the same dust-raising cavalcade.
Naturally, pure beachwear will also be in demand. Lightweight, but long-length and with full-length sleeves – the sun in Egyptian resorts is absolutely “unchildish” at almost any time of the year.
However, it seems that we have already talked about this…
Water temperature
After all, the sea is warmed up to +21-22, rarely +23 degrees Celsius. That is, it actually invigorates – especially in the morning.
Multiply this circumstance by gusts of knife-like wind, and perhaps you reduce the time stay in the water element. Or you may even refuse to swim in the Red Sea.
Although, of course, at this time of year in Egypt it especially attracts some kind of incredibly delicate turquoise.
By the middle and end of the month, the water area warms up a little more during the midday hours. That is, so much so that in reviews there are remarks like “the water was warm.” But swimming turned out to be “comfortable” and “I just didn’t want to get out.”
Prices 2026
The cost of a week-long package tour for two from Moscow to Sharm or Hurghada starts at 125-130 thousand rubles. If you are lucky enough to get to some event, you can go for a week and a little cheaper – for 115-120.
For this money, however, you can relax no frills at all. Just to go to the sea, and I don’t care what kind of hotel it is.
Good discount-free options are more expensive – from 140-150 thousand rubles for two.
In exchange for this amount, the territory of the hotel complex will be well-groomed, the rooms will be clean and comfortable, and the furniture will not be “tired.” Tables in restaurants will be decorated with flower bouquets, and the all-inclusive meal itself will be not only tasty, but also varied.
- Inexpensive excursions in Sharm el-Sheikh

Things to do
We will only mention water parks and aquariums in the sense that they exist. Of different calibers, and in quantities large enough to satisfy the expectations of holidaymakers.
Here we talk about off-beach activities. Which are expectedly numerous: there are plenty of places worth visiting in Egypt!
Sharm el-Sheikh
Boat trips on yachts, glass bottom boats, for diving or snorkeling – to the island of Tirana, in Ras Mohammed Nature ReserveDahab – literally every first tourist will try something from this set. For your own safety, be aware of the frequency of shark attacks on people in Egypt.
Among land adventures, we’ll highlight a desert safari on an ATV – the entertainment will cost $20 per person. A trip with guides to Colored Canyonclimbing the sacred Mount Sinai and visiting the monastery of St. Catherine.
Active and impression-hungry citizens will undoubtedly enjoy a trip to Jordanian Petra. An all-day event that costs a massive $250-$300.
Traditionally they take you from Sharm on bus excursions to Cairo, to the pyramids and the Great Sphinx in Giza. Along the way, you can extend the pleasure by visiting Alexandria or taking a motorboat ride on the Nile.
If you don’t want to spend a long time on a bus, you can go by plane. Both to the capital and a little closer: everyone should see the Luxor Temple, as well as its Karnak counterpart, at least once in their life.
Hurghada
There are also various sea excursions to coral reefs, diving, snorkeling and parasailing. The latter in March is all the more good because searching for a strong air current does not take much time.

They ride both ATVs and horses here – horseback riding Children especially enjoy riding through the desert on Arabian horses. After all, this is so exciting and unusual – the photos posted on Instagram will amaze everyone with their originality.
Here is what is generally worth visiting in Hurghada in Egypt.
Out-of-town activities in particular excursions to Luxor, Valley of Kings and Queens. Which is not surprising – a trip from Hurghada in this direction takes only 4-5 hours.
By the way, you can go on your own – on a regular regular bus.
Naturally, if you wish, you can always visit Cairo and the Great PyramidsGrand Egyptian Museum in Giza.
With a bus excursion you can do it in one day. An independent trip will definitely require an overnight stay in Cairo (we recommend the inexpensive and cool Villa Khufu Pyramids Hotel with a pool and views…)
You can travel from Hurghada to opposite direction. First to Luxor and Dendera, then to Aswan and the temples of Abu Simbel.
Such an organized excursion usually lasts 2 days or more.
But there will be a lot of impressions. Especially if you take (and how else) at least a short cruise along the Nile.
