There are many interesting routes in the world for auto travels and one of the most picturesque lies along the Mediterranean coast of France – along the French riviere or azure bank, from the town of Menton, which is located on the border with Italy, to Marseille. However, these boundaries are not completely unambiguous, everyone interprets them differently, so some believe that the azure shore extends only to Toulon.

But by and large, this is not so important, the main thing is that the places there are really impressive – the azure shore on the one hand is limited by the coast, and on the other, with magnificent mountain massifs, which, among other things, close it from cold winds, which contribute to the creation of a pleasant soft climate throughout the year (there is not a hot summer and a warm sunny winter).

In order to make a car travel along the azure bank, it is most convenient to fly to Nice – it will take only 4 hours. The car can be rented at the airport and depending on the time of arrival, or spend several hours in the city, then go east, or spend the night and continue the trip in the morning.

Nice

From the point of view of the beach vacation, Nice is not very attractive – the city beach is covered with pebbles, however, in the high season it is often filled with a tie. Large waves do not always make it possible to swim calmly, but the color of the water justifies the name of the coast, therefore, if you can’t tolerate to the sea, you can spend some time on the beach. Well, at least – be sure to climb the observation deck located at the very end of the embankment, the photos from there must be in the collection of everyone!

But from the point of view of culture in Nice there is where to turn around – there are many theaters and concert halls (including the opera theater),

as well as museums (museum of archeology, museum of natural history, museum of elegant arts, fleet museum and others).

Menton

After Nice, it makes sense to get to the eastern city of France – Menton. This is a small, calm seaside town located on the border itself. Here, the French charm and Italian charisma are so closely intertwined with each other that it is difficult to say unequivocally whether France is still, or already Italy. The peculiarity of Menton is Italian houses as well as lush parks, olive and citrus groves. By the way, if you are planning a trip along the azure bank in February, then you can’t just call in Menton in any way – it is at this time that the “Lemon Festival” takes place here, but in general, thanks to a special microclimate, lemon trees are fruiting here year -round.

Monaco

It is unlikely that anyone does not know about this dwarf state located inside France. The richest people of the world come here to play in the casino, chat with the prince of Monaco and show off with expensive outfits. But even if you are not gambling or are not yet familiar with His Highness, it is still worthwhile to look into Monaco, at least in order to just take a walk along his wonderful streets and ride on free escalators connecting the streets located in a cascade, since the state is very small – its area is only 2 square kilometers.

Village of Ez

Returning towards Nice, it is worth going along the road along the coast, but to lay the route through the mountains, or rather, through the Ez mountain village. This is a very tiny, but very atmospheric tourist village, located at an altitude of 430 meters from sea level. The settlement was formed in the 10th century. Now there are few local residents here, most of the village is allotted for tourist needs-there are mini-hotels, shops and restaurants everywhere.

In Eza, it is pleasant to plow along the narrow stone streets, sewn with greens and caught clay pots, take pictures on the steps and enjoy opening views of the sea. Well, if you feel the supply of energy in yourself, then you can go down on the coast along the Nietzsche path-they say when the philosopher lived in Eza, he walked along it every day (the descent and rise takes about 2 hours).

Antib

The next remarkable place on the azure bank will be Cape Antibe. It is built up with expensive villas, but most of the beaches are public. This is one of the best places for beach holidays on the entire coast. The beaches here are clean, with small sand, the water of the color of heavenly azure and very transparent. Locals often come here to relax for the whole day and arrange picnics on the beach, so if you want to go down for your own, – jump on the way to the store to buy baguette, cheese, olives and wine. If you want to diversify the beach vacation with cultural leisure – the Picasso Museum and the Napoleon Museum of the Age Museum are at your service.

Cannes

Despite the fact that the city as a whole is not particularly remarkable, you can not come to the azure shore and not visit Cannes, at least travel. In addition to the palace of festivals and congresses in which the Cannes Festival is held, one of the main attractions here is the city embankment – it is very pretty and, they say, even one of the most beautiful in the world!

Saint-Rafael

On the road towards Saint-Raphael, we recommend laying the time with a margin-get ready for dizzying landscapes. It is at the entrance to this town that the mountain ridge of Esther with its famous rocky cliffs of red color is located. In Saint-Rafael, you can relax on the beach, swim in the sea and taste seafood in one of the many restaurants.

Continuing to move further along the coast, you can stop in any town and village. Frezhyus and Saint-Maxim, Saint-Tron and Tuno are quite large resorts, with picturesque beaches and thereby the Cote d’Azur, thanks to which the French Riviera got its second name. Well, besides this, the azure shore is also tens of kilometers less well -groomed, but deserted, wild and deserted beaches.

Photo: Marseille

You can complete the journey in the port Marseille is a large city, the second largest in France. Well, if you have a little more time left, then before flying home (or returning to Nice, depending on the conditions under which you rented a car),

We recommend that the ex-en-Provence, located 30 kilometers from Marseille. He has a very interesting story that originates in antiquity. And do not forget to taste Kalisson – the traditional Provencal sweetness, which is made in this town.
