Egypt in February

Egypt in February 2026 – is it worth going on vacation? Weather in Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh, reviews, air and water temperatures, is it possible to swim, windless bays, prices for tours. Where is it warmer in Egypt in February, what to do and what to see – says Eurotraveler.

February is obviously not an ideal month of the year – at least from the point of view of European tourists. Whose patience and strength are running out towards the end of winter due to the constant confrontation with a rather cold (mostly) and often sunless climate.

Is it surprising that at the end of winter the soul begins to urgently ask for… summer. Or at least something so positive that it can replace it.

And if in February Egypt clearly cannot provide the first – after all, this is not the tropics – then it copes with the second with a bang!

After all, as soon as you see the Red Sea, beaches and palm trees, hotel pools basking carelessly in the sun, winter and cold begin to seem something unreal.

That is, in general, they seem to live in a distant universe that definitely does not concern you

And when you get the hang of it and begin to “discover” the most interesting places in Egypt one after another, until recently such a bright everyday reality will begin to fade, emerging in memory as fragments like a bad dream. Which somehow I don’t want to see again…

The weather in Egypt will definitely be pleasant in February: both in Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada, as well as in other Red Sea resorts. Those who are familiar with the peculiarities of the local climate and are prudent enough to overpay a little for a hotel with a “proper” beach will be especially happy.

No, we don’t know each other, but are you passionate about getting to know each other? Is that why you ask the Internet for an answer? Then read our article carefully!

Weather in Egypt in February

In short, it is impossible to guess for sure what it will be like. But, in general, there seems to be no chance of being disappointed!

Unless, of course, you make a completely unexpected move. Instead of the Red Sea resorts, go to the Mediterranean coast: Alexandria or Mersa Matruh.

Because there, as in southern Europe, at the end of winter they are just beginning to prepare for the new beach season. While on the Red Sea they didn’t stop it all winter (it’s better to go to Egypt in January)!

In Hurghada, the weather in February noticeably turns “face” to summer, trying to forget about the January cold. Moreover, even an inattentive holiday-goer can hardly fail to notice her efforts.

It is also getting a little warmer in Sharm el-Sheikh. And in Marsa Alam… there, however, they try not to notice winter as such at all…

One way or another, even in early February, the air temperature in Egypt consistently reaches +20-22 degrees Celsius. And not every day, but regularly it reaches this “bar”, reaching +24-27 °C.

This is in the shade – in the open at midday you will have every reason to complain about the “inferno”

Therefore, do not forget to pack sunscreen in your suitcase. As well as other accessories useful for the South Sea (what to take on a beach holiday in hot countries), such as sunglasses, long-skirted Panama hats, shirts with full sleeves, dresses with sundresses that cover the shoulders.

Because all this will certainly save your skin and well-being.

Both on the beach and during long excursion trips to the pyramids in Giza and Cairo. Or when traveling to the same Luxor – while walking through the temples and the Valley of the Kings, no one will hold an umbrella over your head.

In Egypt and in February you need to take clothes with long sleeves

In other years

The February weather in Egypt seems to be capricious. And at her direction, the temperatures are trying to teach holidaymakers a lesson, dropping to +18 °C.

Such periods last, however, only a couple of days. Towards the end of winter, sometimes the opposite trend is observed – a movement towards +28 and even +30 degrees Celsius.

At night throughout most of February, the air temperature in Egypt drops significantly.

According to meteorological statistics, it sometimes even reaches +10-12 °C

Although usually thermometers try not to shock vacationers so much. At night, dropping to levels of +15-18 °C.

By the way, let us recall the statistics of shark attacks in Egypt. Apparently they are also chilly during this period of the year. In any case, nothing was heard about attacks by sea predators on people at this time…

Where is better

Note that in Sharm el-Sheikh in February it is usually warmer than in Hurghada – this is due to the hilly terrain. Moreover, sometimes it is so warm that vacationers allow themselves to wear T-shirts and shorts even at dusk.

An eloquent review on this topic can be read here – irecommend.ru…da-chto-ya-zabyla-v-egipte-v-fevrale.

It’s almost guaranteed to be a degree or two higher in El Quseir. And even more so in Marsa el-Alam.

Sun and wind

The length of daylight in Egypt in winter is not too short – by the end of February it reaches 11.5 hours. But the luminary falls over the horizon a little earlier than holidaymakers would like: at 17.20-17.40 local time (Moscow time +1 hour).

There is a lot of sunlight at the same time.

That is, it is absolutely enough, because the sun rules the sky from dawn to sunset

As for rains, they actually exist only in theory. In practice, the matter may be limited to only an uncertain drip.

Strong winds (gusts up to 10-15 m/s) are considered the biggest misfortune of February in Egypt. So serious that people diligently study the location of hotels. And they are ready to significantly overpay for their “windless” versions.

The best hotels in this sense are based in Makadi Bay near Khurghad: the fashionable Sunrise Royal Makadi or the slightly more simple, but also 5-star Prima Life.

Both, by the way, give guests a nice bonus – a free taxi from the airport!

Good hotels are hidden in the relatively closed bays of Sharm el-Sheikh: the expensive Jaz Fanara Resort 4* or the affordable Albatros Aqua Park Sharm, hidden in the depths of Sharm el-Maya.

And also not particularly expensive, despite the “trump” location (Naama Bay), Novotel Sharm El Sheikh.

Water temperature

Tries not to fall below +21-22 degrees Celsius. And after carefully looking at the statistics, you begin to understand why – the Red Sea simply cannot do this.

It’s not always higher. But for Sharm el-Sheikh, for example, in February, a water temperature of about +23 °C is considered more common.

Yes, due to the often forcefully blowing wind and waves, even such a water area will seem cool. Especially when you are about to get out of it.

But if you pay close attention to the location of the hotel beach, such trouble can be avoided. It is better to swim between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., remembering to regularly apply sunscreen.

As for jellyfish, meeting them in February near the coast of Egypt is practically impossible.

Equally – we repeat – judging by the last decade, to the category unlikely events This includes shark attacks. Since it was during the period from January to March that they were not registered even once.

Prices 2026

Tours for 6-7 nights from Moscow to such a good hotel as Mercure Hurghada with 4 stars in mid-February cost from 125-130 thousand rubles for two and on an all-inclusive basis.

Sunrise Royal Makadi with all inclusive or its ultra-version will cost at least 150 thousand rubles for 6 nights. A trip from the Russian capital to the Sharm el-Sheikh Jaz Fanara Resort costs approximately the same.

But the 5-star Novotel Sharm El Sheikh in popular Naama Bay usually trumps with its democracy (from 130,000 for two). In addition, here you can choose either half board – which is convenient if you intend to make long excursions – or all inclusive.

Things to do

There can be no compromises here – everything that is not prohibited. After all, breaking out of the snow-drifted reality is only half the battle – you will have to make an effort to forget about it, at least for a short period of time.

In Egypt – even in low-season February – there are plenty of opportunities for this!

Hotels with water parks in Hurghada are not empty in February

We won’t touch on water parks in detail – what can we say about them? Moreover, today everyone has already heard that complexes quite rich in slides are located right next to the hotels.

Like in a relatively inexpensive one like Albatros Jungle Aqua Park 4* in Hurghada. The same goes for the much more expensive Pickalbatros Aqua Blu Sharm El Sheikh in Sharm el-Sheikh.

Naturally, Egyptian hotel water parks also operate in winter.

Accepting not only our own guests, but also vacationers from hotels that do not have such complexes.

We’ll tell you about other entertainment like snorkeling on the open sea, yachting and fishing, and various excursions in a little more detail.

In Hurghada

Walking to the Giftun Islands is always popular. Where you can dive in amazingly clear water. And take photographs that will invariably delight guests later.

A boat trip, including meals and a couple of dives, will cost only 25 € per person. And yes, they will definitely show you exactly where to dive, so as not to scare the sharks

The opportunity to go fishing costs more – about twice as much. And an individual yacht trip on the Red Sea is considered VIP entertainment.

Even a large family is unlikely to be ruined by diving into the “abyss” on a panoramic submarine – you need to pay just over 20 € for one passenger.

However, here we advise you to remember the possible consequences. In March 2025, the Hurghada Sinbad sank with tourists on board kommersant.ru/doc/7606415.

Near Sharm el-Sheikh you can see the colorful underwater world

Dusty (don’t forget a thick scarf) ATV rides in the desert are also affordable – they cost from 15-20 €. The pleasure that such trips bring is difficult to measure in money.

  • What a tourist should see in Hurghada

It will cost a lot of money, but still not at all ruinous

Long trips

So, an excursion to Cairo and Giza, with visits to museums and pyramids, will take 50-55 € out of your pocket. You will pay 1.5 times more for a tour to Luxor with a visit to the famous temples, the Valley of the Kings and Queens.

Sharm el-Sheikh

The range of leisure activities at the main resort of the Sinai Peninsula is slightly less rich. After all, there are simply no attractions in their usual sense.

However, they can be successfully replaced by diving or snorkeling in the waters of the Ras Mohammed Nature Reserve

You can also go parasailing, mindlessly drive ATVs through the desert, or meaningfully visit some of the significant places of the Sinai Peninsula. In particular: visit the sacred Mount Sinai and the monastery of St. Catherine.

The Colored Canyon with its colorful rocks is unusual and extremely photogenic. And the famous Blue Hole in Dahab is simply a unique place, attracting divers like valerian to cats.

Naturally, from Sharm el-Sheikh you can take a bus trip to the pyramids – if you have not seen them in person before. They take one-day excursions from here (from 250 € per person) and to Petra in Jordan. A unique place, probably one of the most amazing on Earth…
