Train Rome Florence: distance, travel time, ticket prices, how and where to buy them? Where do the trains come from and where do the trains come, where to go further? Is it worth going to Florence more than on a day, where to spend the night, says Eurotraveler.

When the attractions of Rome are examined (more or less), and the energy of the traveler, who was saturated with ancient buildings, the masterpieces of the Renaissance and Baroque, still remains, his searching gaze rushes outside. At first-perhaps-old towns relatively close to the Italian capital: Tivoli and Castel-Gangfo, Terrachin, Witterbo and Orvuto. And then further, more often in the north than to the south: to Milan and … mysterious Florence.

The latter is completely in a pity – anyone will tell you – to spend a day, or even several. And to go, in general, will not have to be too far! The navigator suggests that the distance between Rome and Florence is only 270 km. The regularity of the railway communication between these two large cities in Italy is pushing for a completely logical thought – we are going immediately!

Schedule

We don’t say exactly how many trains run from Rome to Florence daily, and then back? And who needs it, is this number? Tourists should only know that the schedule, like the current ticket prices, is easy to find on the operator’s official website: Trenitalia.com/en.html.

To search for the required, you only need to know that the names of cities even in the English version of the railway carrier website are driven into Italian. That is: Roma and Firenze.

You also need to set the day of the trip, the approximate time of departure (Andata) and return (Ritorno). Then choose the number of adults (adalti) and children (ragazzi), and then press the search (CERCA).

The movement interval is from 10 to 25 minutes – the direction is popular!

Rome-Florence, train schedule and buying tickets online

Most trains go to Florence from the Central Station of Rome, Termini. And arrives at the same main station of the whole Tuscany – Firenze SM Novella.

From where you can incredibly easily and quickly, literally in 10 minutes to reach Duomo Square. With which it usually begins, if not every first, then most routes of inspection of the main attractions of Florence.

Some trains from Rome have set off from the second most important Tiburtina station (those who also do not pass from the Terminis of this station), but arrive at RiFredi or Campo di Marte in Florence.

Both the first and second option are not very convenient for a one -day traveler. For there are much more significant removal from the historical center of the Tuscan capital in comparison with Santa Maria-Nagella.

Travel time and ticket prices

High -speed trains, which are called in Italy Frecciarossa (Red Arrow), get from Rome to Florence in 1.5 hours. But the prices for travel are appropriate: at 55 € a ticket for an adult purchased on the day of the trip will cost. When buying in advance (for example, in a month) you can save about 20-25 €.

The in no hurry of Intercity moves more slowly, but they are much cheaper. When buying a ticket on the same day, you have to pay about 25 €. The trip will take from 3.5 hours and on the way you have to make at least one transplant!

We remember that traveling at the children’s tariff (50% of the full cost) in Italy is allowed to children aged 6-11 years and exclusively accompanied by adults. For children aged 0-5 years, you don’t even need to buy a ticket. The penalty for stowaways is from 60 €.

By the way, in Italy it is not required to validate railway tickets purchased online. Since the train number and the time of departure are scored in them!

Where to spend the night

Based on the actual experience, we tend to recommend Il Villino Rosa Apartments, located near the Santa Maria-Ninella station. And about 1.5 km from the Signoria Square and all other-stringed Florentine attractions.

These apartments are not too cheap (in May you will pay 170-180 euros per day with city taxes), but this is the amount for three residents. That against the backdrop of universal high cost in Florence is very acceptable!

When to go

Florence is included in the top most popular among foreign travelers of the cities of Italy. So if you do not really like it becomes part of the crowd and would like to stand on the shore of Arno in relative solitude, thinking about something of your own, then come to not the most “hot” time.

In particular, so far not a lot of tourists come to see Florence in May. And in September-October, on the streets of the Tuscan capital, it becomes more free.

What can we say about late autumn and – even more so – winter. When Florence appears to the traveler completely different: not full of sun and light, but a little gloomy, as if dissatisfied. But still – immensely beautiful!
