Hurghada in December 2025 – is it worth going? Weather and reviews, air and water temperature, is it possible to swim and how to dress, prices for tours and hotels. What to do and see in Hurghada in December, where to go in Egypt – says Eurotraveler.
To work effectively, you need to be able to rest effectively. Not necessarily like everyone else not necessarily in summer.
After all, even in winter you can find places, and places on the warm sea, that will allow you to take a breath and recuperate. Moreover, to do this not only “for all the money” in the world, but generally for an amount that many would consider ridiculous.
Yes, you guessed it right – we will talk about Egypt. More precisely, about its most famous resort, Hurghada, in December and not thinking about turning it off beach season.
And why would she do this? If the weather is very similar to summer somewhere in Central Europe? And the temperature of the Red Sea in Hurghada in December is so high that even shocking. Making you think seriously – why did you still insist so much on annual vacation in the summer?!
In general, we ask for love and favor. Details below!
Weather in Hurghada in December
It can’t be called hot – but that’s good, isn’t it? Will it allow you to exercise your right to a relaxing holiday at sea, which will naturally include various entertainment activities? Like a visit to Luxor or a cruise on the Red Sea, a trip to the pyramids of Giza or real safari on the sands of a real desert?
In general, this is the case – the average air temperature in Hurghada in early December tends to be +25 degrees Celsius. Although on other days it may rise to +28-30 °C. It rarely gets lower during the day, but at night you should prepare for a completely different story – maybe only +14-16 °C.
This weather occurs in the first ten days or even half of the month. But in the second half of December it becomes cooler in Hurghada. It doesn’t seem to be much – the temperature gradually drops to the range of +21-24 degrees – but at this time everyone already wants to reduce the time they spend on the beach.

Moreover, the sun sets early here in winter. At 16 o’clock it becomes twilight and chilly, and at 17 o’clock it becomes completely dark
At the end of December, the air temperature in Hurghada during the day is quite often drops to +20. Although on other days rises to +24 °C are possible.
Nights? We better not talk about sad things here. We just note that in the case of a long excursion, starting early in the morning or ending late in the evening, you better wear a quilted jacket. Well, the sweater underneath…
Rain and wind
You almost certainly will not encounter the first ones during your holiday at sea in Hurghada in December. Unless on a particularly cloudy day the sky may not be able to stand it and shed a few “tears.”
But the second – strong and cold winds – are a problem. So caring for the minds of vacationers that they are given attention in almost every review – irecommend.ru/khurgada-v-dekabre-dolgozhdannoe-iz-zimy-v-leto.
Of course – the choice of a windless bay and beach in Hurghada in December – the most important task. In solving this problem you have to show a certain amount of ingenuity and even sacrifice some money.
Because hotels in such bays are noticeably more expensive. And usually they are not inclined to throw away discounts. However, we will tell you about prices and hotels a little later!
Water temperature
At the beginning of December, the Red Sea near Hurghada warms up to +24, in rare cases even up to +25 degrees Celsius. And throughout the month the water area cools down very slowly.

So, until December 15-20, you will be able to swim in Hurghada in the sea with a temperature of at least +23 degrees. And at the end of the month, on New Year’s Eve, the water cools down to a maximum of +22. Well, further south, in Safaga, El-Quseir, especially Marsa Alam, it may turn out to be even warmer.
It must be remembered that the water area does not reach the specified temperature right in the morning.
And at the hottest moments of the day: from noon to about 14-15 hours
Also, do not forget about the strong winds that are generally characteristic of Hurghada. If in hotter times – say, in October – if you notice them, you will only be grateful, but in December they really cause inconvenience.
Why, they’re even annoying. Forcing some of the already few tourists to give up swimming in the sea and opt for a hotel pool.
What to take with you
Obviously, you need to take light clothing with you to Egypt. If it is intended to be a tourist visit, based on a long stay on the seashore.
Something that will keep your skin from baking in the southern sun. But at the same time, it will not prevent you from receiving a reasonable dose of vitamin D. We won’t go into too much detail about swimwear and sunscreen – you can probably guess it anyway.
Be sure to take it on your trip light jackets and windbreakers — on December evenings in Hurghada you need to dress warmly. In the mornings, however, too.

Sweatshirts and sleeveless vests will probably come in handy too. In short, everything that is customary to wear under a jacket when you want a little more insulation.
We will especially scrupulously advise pack a first aid kit for a trip. And you don’t need to console yourself with thoughts like “there are pharmacies there” – first aid supplies in case of poisoning, as well as antipyretic pills, should always be at hand in Egypt!
Prices 2025
Quite justify high demand. A couple of Muscovites can relax in Hurghada in December, paying only 85 thousand rubles for the tour. Flights, transfers, accommodation in a not luxurious, but good hotel are included in the price. As well as breakfasts – of course, for two.
If you decide that you can part with 90-100 thousand, you can purchase an all-inclusive tour. For 120-130,000 rubles you will stay in a 5-star hotel, located in what is considered a windless bay.
For example, located on the shores of Makadi Bay (about 35 km south of Hurghada). There it is worth taking a closer look, first of all, at such not overly expensive, but high-quality hotels as Iberotel Makadi Beach and JAZ Neo Saraya Palms.
In Hurghada itself (very close to it), we highly recommend paying attention to the Sindbad Club hotel. With a good water park and a literally excellent spa center. And also – good reviews, which praise both the all-inclusive food and the staff.
And also a well-groomed territory!

Things to do
We once wrote a fairly lengthy review about what you can see in Hurghada and where to go with your child. If you don’t have time to read, then we’ll inform you that in fact the only place worthy of all attention at the resort is its Marina. Where it’s nice to walk, look at yachts, dine in restaurants.
Definitely outside the resort worth a visit to Hurghada Grand Aquarium. Especially if you come to relax in December Egypt with children.

Also, in some reviews, tourists report incredible emotions after visiting the Arabian Nights Palace, 15 kilometers south of the center of Hurghada. Perhaps so. But we are boring people, and the belly dancing and costume shows there did not impress us…
Popular among tourists are “road movies” on buggies and ATVs through the desert, with or without dinner in a Bedouin village.
Very popular – especially in winter – one-day cruises to Giftun Islands. Where you can both lie on the snow-white sand, posing for (a million) photos, and go snorkeling. In the latter case, you should be on guard all the time – shark attacks on tourists near Hurghada have become more frequent in recent years!
However, swimming during a cruise is not at all necessary. Again, you might want to not only take a ride on the sea, but also go fishing – there are plenty of corresponding offers in Hurghada!
Where to visit
In particular, in December it is worth traveling from Hurghada to see Luxor. See the famous temple of Ramesses II there, as well as the Karnak temple.
Then visit the other side of the Nile (and maybe do great river cruise – why not, in such a cool month?). And there you can personally see the Colossi of Memnon, the Temple of Hatshepsut, the Valley of the Kings and Queens.
Perhaps even fly over it in a hot air balloon. Flights are also carried out in winter (the Egyptians want to make money). But the safety of this type of recreation still raises questions. Here is a list of incidents with hot air balloons in Luxor – en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_air_ballooning_in_Luxor.
They take excursions from Hurghada to Cairo and Giza, even to Alexandria. Wealthy tourists can take part in a 2-3-day expedition to Aswan (dam) and to the Abu Simbel temple. One of the Egyptian “wonders of the world”, which is obviously not so easy to get to in the hot months.
