Antalya in December 2025 – is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, air and water temperature, is it possible to swim, how to dress, prices for tours, air tickets and hotels. What to do and what to see in Antalya at the beginning of December and on the eve of the New Year, where to go in the surrounding area and in Turkey in general – says Eurotraveler.
The coronavirus pandemic has fundamentally shifted the priorities of the world’s population. And especially in terms of tourist preferences.
If earlier people meticulously chose where to go during their summer vacation, today they use any opportunity to save. And at the same time discover new places – sometimes at completely unexpected times!
This is exactly how many people discovered Turkish Antalya in December. We were surprised to realize that she – like it. We admitted to ourselves with amazement that perhaps even more than in the too hot summer season here or even in the mature autumn.
Have you ever thought about wanting to return? And what about – even before we found ourselves on board a plane flying back into a “standard” winter.
Will this actually work? Who knows…
However, you, reading this article, seem to have everything ahead – you just are you planning a similar trip?!
Are you studying weather conditions and prices, wondering what to see in Antalya and around? Are you wondering where in Turkey it would be worth going in December-January?
Well, this is also a very interesting question?!
However, we will go in order! Let’s start our story with the basics!
Weather in Antalya in December
It’s a bit like gambling. If you’re lucky, there will be almost the whole month sunny, warm and even dry. No – experience 2-3 days in a row of truly inclement weather and you will seriously think about escaping somewhere to clear (albeit colder) climes.

For example, to Cappadocia – getting there from Antalya in winter, even on your own, is not at all difficult. And even somehow suspiciously low cost.
But we still advise you not to rush, take a pause – things can get better! And even – to become clearer!
The usual air temperature in Antalya in December during the day is from +16 to +19 degrees Celsius. It happens even less – up to +13-15 °C on the eve of the New Yearsometimes even more is recorded, up to +20-21 °C (rare in fact).
But this – in forecasts and on street thermometers – in an open place at noon it may well seem that the sun is burning almost like summer. And people in winter clothes, as soon as they go out for a walk around the city, immediately try to expose themselves. Well, or at least – to find yourself in the saving shadow of houses.
Towards the end of December, the weather in Antalya does not slow down too much – cools down a degree or two. And normal daytime temperatures rarely drop below +17 °C.
Nights in Antalya, even on New Year’s Eve, are not much colder than during the day – in most cases from +12 to +15 °C. Rarely, but it does happen drop in air temperature below +10 °C.
Old-timers will probably tell you about the frosts. But what if you need to surprise visitors with something?!
High monthly precipitation and sometimes very strong winds are the two main misfortunes of Antalya during December. Moreover, the rains usually give especially outstanding performances exactly at the end of the month. It’s as if they are trying to ruin the mood when people are already living in anticipation of celebrating the New Year in Antalya.
As for the winds, they not only ruffle the surface of the sea, but also try to carry away your bags. And they also hinder your adventures in the coastal area in every possible way.

Precipitation
On average, during the entire first winter month in Antalya, 6-8 stormy days can occur. And torrential rains are more tradition than nonsense. Average monthly precipitation reaches 130-140 mm.
On other – not rainy – December days, the sky blue above the resort can flaunt shades that are not at all winter. Rather reminiscent of early spring.
At such moments, you want to wander around the cozy old town for a particularly long time, inhaling the almost unearthly aromas from bakeries and pastry shops. Sitting on benches and parapets on the shore for a long time, trying to catch the slightest nuances of the sea and sky colors.
Don’t rush anywhere enjoy the moment
I lazily spin the thought in my head – how wonderful it is that there are such places in the world.
Water temperature
By the way, theoretically it does not prohibit swimming in Antalya in early December and later – the sea is warmed up to +17-19 degrees Celsius. But those who want to try out the conditions of the water area in person for some reason very little.
Most tourists and locals prefer to sit calmly on the shore. Absorbing the warmth that is not at all winter and trying to move less so as not to lose the incredible feeling of harmony and agreement with the whole world that has settled in my soul.
How to dress
Should you stock up on warm clothes? If you are going to Antalya just to walk along Kaleici and drink coffee on the balcony overlooking the sea, then take You don’t need too much winter wardrobe. All the same, during the day you will want to unbutton, or even take off your down jacket.
But if you decide to take a long excursion to the valleys of Cappadocia, or are planning to climb serious heights – like Mount Takhtali – then
a solid jacket and a pullover or sweatshirt will be appropriate
It is also worth taking scarves and hats for children. Or maybe even gloves – who knows where inspiration will take you? What if you decide to go up to the Termessos Amphitheater on a windy day?

Prices 2025
Round-trip air tickets (from Moscow to Antalya and back) for mid-December cost impressively inexpensive – for an amount of about 30 thousand rubles (300 € – luggage included) you will even make direct flights.
A tourist from London will spend not much less, about 250 €, for similar movements (without luggage, but about 60-70 €). Round-trip tickets from Belgrade will cost approximately €300.
As for local hotels, there is a wide choice, even taking into account the fact that some establishments have closed their doors until the new season. So for a reasonable price you can stay in the very center of the old city.
Sometimes you even get a room with a balcony and a roof terrace with stunning views.
We recommend the inexpensive and cozy Ozmen Hotel in Kaleici. Captivating location, freshly renovated rooms and the hospitality of the owners. The price tag is not too high – from 45 € for two people per night.
Gorgeous views from the terrace and tastefully decorated interiors distinguish Villa Tulipan. Also located in the very center of old Antalya, but not particularly expensive in December (about 70 €/day, “amazing breakfast” included).
Fits exceptionally well for a romantic trip Adalya Port Hotel, located next to the harbor. And not only that for about 60 € per day you get a very spacious room, only after leaving the hotel you will immediately find yourself into the labyrinth of ancient streets.
And what kind of views you will admire during breakfast (included in the price and also “excellent”) – there are probably no better ones here!
Tours to Antalya in December are also inexpensive. For 115-120 thousand rubles, a couple of Muscovites can relax in an ultra all-inclusive hotel. Flights, of course, are included in the indicated amount.
Things to do
In Antalya alone you can see a lot of interesting things. But most of those who come to the resort in December are already quite familiar with its attractions. And therefore they are more likely to choose the simplest activities.
And they can be understood – in December the air in Antalya is fresh and (on some days) surprisingly clear. And the prospects – in every sense – look so far away.

Let’s not forget about shopping. And not because some special discounts may await you before the New Year – more likely no than yes. But just to tone up!
After all, convince yourself that you can bring home a lot of useful things from Turkey, and not only souvenirs and sweets– as simple as shelling pears!
Active people will undoubtedly try to organize something like this in the vicinity of Antalya. For example, they rent a car and drive… not just anywhere, of course, but “with meaning.”
Where to go
It’s so easy to feel nirvana and incredible tranquility by simply sitting for a short time on the seashore in deserted Phaselis. And satisfaction for not wasting time after ascent to the ruins of Termessos. Not at all spoiled by the attention of tourists and even archaeologists…
Organized bus tours to Demre and Myra do not stop in December
Independent tourists will also visit Perge, or finally get to Aspendos. A trip to which was endlessly postponed on summer days due to the unbearable heat.
Particularly restless comrades may go and very far away. And it doesn’t have to be with an excursion – there’s nothing difficult about organizing such a trip on your own!
We mentioned above about the (unique) opportunity to visit Cappadocia in December and fly in a hot air balloon over magical, perhaps even slightly snow-covered landscapes.
Don’t discount Istanbul either – even if you’ve been there before! After all, ex-Constantinople clearly does not belong to the category of “disposable” cities.
On the contrary, many try to see Istanbul almost every year. And invariably remain in admiration — the main Turkish metropolis is incredibly diverse and diverse! And it remains so even at the most non-tourist time of the year.
