In the project “Kudablin” We send completely different people on traveling at our expense! Guzel Takutdinova went to Luxembourg: showed us all the beauty of the Christmas city, told us how to eat in a Michelin restaurant and stay with money, and where to try the best wines of Luxembourg. Read more – in her report!

“Mal, yes daring!” – It is this phrase that perfectly describes the tiny duchy in the heart of Europe.

But I admit honestly that before the trip with OneTwotrip I knew little about the country, except for its miniature size and a huge number of castles. Therefore, I had to conduct my own educational program, and it turned out that:

  • The country’s area is approximately equal to Moscow – 2600 km2.
  • Official languages are German, French, and also Luxembourg. Yes, this tiny country has its own language, which is a mixture of French and German.
  • In 2002, the euro became the official currency of Luxembourg and replaced the Luxembourg Frank.
  • A bus travel for everyone on Saturdays within Luxembourg-City (+ several more routes) is free. But a sensation! Luxembourg plans this year to become the first country in the world to make completely free public transport throughout the country, for everyone and always. (This is a dream, comrades!)
  • Along with Brussels and Strasbourg, the city of Luxembourg is one of the three official capitals of the European Union.

Luxembourg has long been on my list of Travel Swords, so when the subscribers chose this direction, I just jumped with joy!

We were lucky to be in this country in the most magical time – the pre -science season. As many as three fairs, they spread out in the city center (and, according to my impressions, they were not inferior to Christmas fairs in Kolmar). Spicy mulled wine and hot cider, satisfying pancakes and cheese straps – a real expanse for a glutton (like me).

Since Christmas fairs are already behind, the next perfect season for visiting Luxembourg is summer. In order to more than enjoy nature, weather and castles.

“But what to see in the city itself?” – You ask me. Here you have a whole storehouse of interesting places:

  • I immediately note that Luxemberg City is located at two levels. In the upper city you can walk along the old streets and wander into the lower city on a cup of fragrant coffee.
  • Le Chemin de la Corniche will lead you from the upper “floor of the city” to Nizhny and show views of medieval houses, the Alzet River Valine and the remains of fortresses.
  • The soil quarter is the lower level of the city. Here are atmospheric stone streets, channels, gardens. To get up again (or go down), use a free elevator inside the cliff.
  • Michelin restaurants – I want to try the food of the gods without selling the kidneys? My subscribers shared a very cool life hack – these restaurants periodically arrange Resto Days when the same lunch, instead of 100 €, will cost 30 €. This year, the dates are March 19-24. You can read more in detail here
  • The Adolf bridge – the fairy -tale bridges of this city fell in love with me the most (by the way, in this photo it was he).
  • The Cathedral of the Luxembourg Mother of God-I can’t say that it is somehow especially beautiful, but it is definitely worth it (still an example of late Gothic architecture).
  • Casemates Bok – underground corridors with a length of 23 km, carved under the ledge of the cliffs in the 17th century.
  • The Luxembourg wine path is the most delicious attraction stretching along the Mosel River. It begins in the village of Schengen, where the Schengen agreement was concluded, and passes through the best vineyards of Luxembourg.
  • And of course – castles. There are a lot of them here, but the most famous: Vianden, Bofor, Berg, Esh-Sur-Sur, Burglinster, Burshaid, Anemburg, Anyemburg, Pettingen, Clervo.

Thanks to the beautiful tandem Onetwotrip and my subscribers, who, by conveying, sent me to this fabulous duchy! I really hope that Luxembourg will love you. Great travels!
