Alanya in January 2026 – Is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, air and water temperature, whether you can swim and how to dress, prices in hotels and excursions. What to do and where to go with children, what to see in Alanya after the New Year and in mid-late January, where to go in Turkey – says Eurotraveler.

Winter is not a death sentence. On the contrary, it is an opportunity to look at established concepts from a new angle and rethink your own attitude towards them.

Yes, it’s not easy. But but it’s interesting — as if you are getting out of a boarded-up house and looking around with curiosity.

Absorbing new impressions and listening to yourself – is it me? Or someone completely different, rebelliously refusing to participate in the eternal migration: in the summer we go south, in the winter we stay at home.

A long trip in such a matter provides invaluable experience. Moreover, traveling to some places in the off-season will cost such a moderate amountthat there’s nothing special to think about.

Turkish Alanya in January is one of such places. Already not at all beachybut still quite warm.

Quiet, but bright, joyful or something, optimistic.

Literally giving a sea of possibilities in terms of active recreationtreating nerves worn out by everyday stress

Would you like to try it?

Weather in Alanya in January

It can hardly be called cold even by an obvious ill-wisher. After all, the air temperature in Alanya in January tries to reach +15-17 degrees Celsius. And in the vast majority of cases she succeeds!

At the beginning of January it is warmer in Alanya than at the end of the month. Sometimes so much so that the few tourists can only shake their heads in surprise and rejoice at their own foresight. Forced them to take a risk by going on holiday to Turkey in such an unusual time.

The air temperature in Alanya on New Year’s Eve and immediately after the holiday is at range +17-22 °C. Making decorated Christmas trees in hotel lobbies almost look like a mockery.

And even after sunset you you don’t have to cringe and blow on frozen hands when you want to take a walk. Because the atmosphere on the coast does not cool below +12 °C until dawn.

This type of weather usually persists until the middle or even the third ten days of the month. Because, alas, at the end of January in Alanya it is usually colder weather begins.

So, on the threshold of February, it’s good if the air warms up to at least +15 °C during the day – much more often it is no higher than +13-14 °C

Precipitation

Will it rain a lot? In theory – very much so. And according to statistics, January in Alanya is the most rainy period of the year.

To 12-14 rainy days per month and under 200 mm of precipitation is unlikely to please a tourist who understands what this means. But in reality, your mood is unlikely to be ruined.

If you always remember, of course, that in most European countries at this time on the streets: ice, or even snowdrifts!

Again, even the disadvantages of rainy weather can easily be turned into advantages. If you plan excursion programwhich minimizes possible weather vagaries!

Why don’t you go, for example, from Alanya on a trip to Cappadocia (for 2-3 days?). Or plan a visit to Pamukkale and Hierapolis, and maybe even Istanbul itself in winter?

By the way, judging by the reviews, sunny days do happen in Alanya and in January.

And at such moments, nothing can stop you from enjoying life by having a picnic on a deserted beach. Or looking at some ancient ruinsof which there are so many in the surrounding mountains…

Here you can book a tour to Cappadocia from Alanya.

Water temperature

This information is more for reference – very few people risk going into the usually stormy (even Mediterranean) sea in winter. But on paper everything is worthy, the water area warmed up to +18-19 degrees Celsius. And theoretically, it allows you not only to walk along the edge of the surf, but also to swim.

It is curious that even by February the sea in Alanya does not cool below +18 °C. That is, of course, this happens – but only in the coldest years.

How to dress

For those who are just going to walk around Alanya in January, inhaling the aromas of the sea and (let’s not be afraid of this word) freedom, dreaming on a wide beach about a happy future, Don’t stuff your suitcase with clothes. Because the list of things you need to take with you to Turkey is already long!

Frankly winter jackets, probably it’s better to leave at home. An ordinary backyard gun, which you use in a cold autumn, will also work:

waterproof and windproof windbreakersquilted light jackets, thermal underwear

Don’t forget about beachwear that you take to the sea. After all, you may well need breeches or even shortson other days to walk barefoot along the edge of the surf.

Travelers who are planning to expand their vacation diet with a trip to the north, to Cappadocia, should consider their own equipment more thoroughly. And stock up on natural winter clothes: including down jackets, hats, boots or boots with fur.

Because frosts in Cappadocia in winter are not uncommon. And about the fact that in January the valleys there often flaunt a white blanket, probably everyone who has studied the issue even superficially has heard a lot.

Should those who would like to visit Istanbul in January take such warm clothes with them? This makes no practical sense – the weather there weakly correlates with the very concept of winter.

Prices 2026

If we are talking about celebrating the New Year in Alanya or official holidays, then prices for air tickets from Moscow (from 650 € per passenger, but round trip, but without luggage) will not please you. Those who travel from Belgrade, for example, will spend from 300 €.

If you are ready to choose dates after January 8-9 for your holiday, then transport costs will be reduced to ~250 € (again, hand luggage only). Both in the case of starting from Russia and from Serbia…

Hotels in a Turkish resort in winter are cheap. Affordable Alanya Damlataş Apart (you are unlikely to be able to use the pool at this time of year) will take

for a family suite with balcony about 30-35 € per day

You will pay about the same for a 4-bed (!) room in My Home Apart. Located 300 meters from Cleopatra Beach!

The cost of January tours hints that holidays in Turkey are still can be a budget event. Since vouchers for two Muscovites with accommodation in a good hotel (all inclusive) cost from 130 thousand rubles.

Very prices for excursions are also nice. For something modest, like a walk around the city and a ride on the cable car, you need to pay ~25 €. An organized tour to Cappadocia (2 days) or Pamukkale (1 day) will cost 40-50 €.

Things to do

The question of what to do in Alanya, arriving there in January, interests many. And it’s even alarming – the majority still think that holidays in Turkey in winter are meaningless.

To say that this is not true – say nothing!

At least in our case! After all, Alanya itself has enough interesting places to keep you from getting bored during your vacation.

And if you take into account the near and far surroundings of the resort, then you will have to grieve for another – a quick return into “ordinary” reality.

We are not even talking about the fact that there are even large clothing stores in Alanya. This means, in particular, that you can bring a useful thing from Turkey – often inexpensive and practical.

Plus – to heal mental wounds – women will understand us

And do it much more effectiverather than during a Sunday foray into one of Moscow’s crowded super-mega shopping centers.

As for long trips from Alanya, we have already briefly mentioned the two most popular ones above. And we especially focus on the fact that visiting, for example, Cappadocia, is much better in independent mode.

That is, without getting involved with excursions of the format “a day on the road – a day and a half on the spot.”

Fortunately, organizing a trip of 500 km (just that!) in Turkey is very easy. And you can determine its duration and budget based only on your own “wants”!
