Crimea in August – Is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, air and water temperature in Yalta and Alushta, Evpatoria and Sudak, prices in hotels and for renting apartments? What to do, what can be seen in the Crimea in August, what is generally worth knowing to a potential vacationer, says Eurotraveler.
The end of summer is traditionally the most popular period among lovers of beach holidays. And this is not necessary to be surprised!
And the point here, as it seems to us, is not only that the weather on the sunset of summer is especially warm and sunny, but also that very soon the bathing season will end. Agree – after all, it is especially nice to bask in the sun and tired of swimming in the sea when on the nose – autumn! And before my eyes, the negligent prospect of a new working and school year looms.
In the case of Crimea in August, this is all the more correct. Since, no matter how much (biased faces) they say that you can swim on the peninsula all 5 months a year, in fact it is a half -truth. For yes, you can swim – just like it in May and in September, often even in June – not everyone.
Therefore, those who decide to go to Crimea in August, no matter, to Yalta or Yevpatoria, figuratively speaking “they jump into the last car,” going to the sea. And this is what they can count on.
Weather in Crimea in August
The mass impulse of tourists justifies to immediately cross the Crimean bridge by car. After all, forecasts promise Crimea in August stable air temperatures for +30 degrees Celsius and the very minimum of rains. This is during the day and in the shade-in the sun, thermometers will show for +37-40 ° C!
Such daytime “weather” does not suit everyone. If only because the continuous duration of very hot periods reaches 2-3 weeks. In what time from an impeccably clear sky and literally blazing sun, even those who love beach holidays will get tired.
At night you can wait for relief: in most cases +23-25, sometimes up to +27 ° C-in the first half or even in the first two decades of the month. At the very end of August, the evening coolness that in Alushta and Sudak (+18-20), which even in Yalta will unequivocally hint: turn off the swimming season, soon autumn.
The sun on August 1 in Yalta begins to rise above the horizon at 5.30 in the morning and goes sleep To illuminate the other side of the Earth around 08.20 (duration of the day – 14 hours and 38 minutes). On the threshold of September, the Svetilo does the same in the beginning of 7 in the morning and at ~ 19.20.
Rains
The likelihood of precipitation is above all in Yalta and in general on the southern shore – the Crimean mountains that obscure the coasts from the central part of the peninsula also tend to attract and accumulate rain clouds. High humidity can be a problem for individual tourists. Although usually during this period it does not exceed 70%.
Almost unplendically sunny in August on the western coast of Crimea: in Sevastopol and Yevpatoria. However, often and rather windy – the sea is worried almost daily. The southeast of the peninsula flashes a cloudless sky: in a new light, zander and koktebel, thunderstorms can cause only excessively sultry weather.
Rains are poured mainly in the form of brief stormy rain. And often they do not affect resort life, falling out at night.
Water temperature
The sea is everywhere heated to the meanings that arrange even families with infants. And this is not +23-25 ° C, as they write in some guides. The modern trend is such that by the beginning of August the sea in Crimea was heated to +25-26 degrees Celsius-almost everywhere. In separate resorts, the water temperature reaches +27-28 ° C.
You can swim without fear literally from early morning until late in the evening. The only thing should be borne in mind that after the 20s of August the sea is felt quite cool in the morning. But after noon and even at dusk, it will be very warm.
What to take with you
When going to relax in such a place as Crimea, especially in August, do not forget to put some “mandatory” things in the suitcase. In particular, you will need and almost certainly a decent supply of sunscreen with SPF more than 50 will be spent.
It is not worth counting that you can buy them on the spot. Because there are no hypermarkets in the Crimea (Auchan in Simferopol is the only exception), and the assortment in resort stores and pharmacies is not very extensive.
We will also advise you to take with us a large number of summer clothes of light tones from natural fabrics. And pay special attention to hats – the sun on the peninsula in the summer is very strong.
Almost any activity associated with hiking in the mountains or visiting caves yells about the need for comfortable shoes. Since walking along the mountain paths in sandals and sandals can lead to unpleasant consequences: at least bruises and cuts, and at a maximum-to sprains and fractures-how to dress for climbing Ai-Petri.
Well, yes, jackets and sweatshirts in some situations will be completely unnecessary. Because in the caves, the air temperature does not rise all year round above +11-12 degrees Celsius. It can be cooled enough on a kilometer hill.
Prices 2025
You can easily guess that August is the peak of the beach season in Crimea – and prices are literally at the peaks. Usually! In recent years, however, in connection with all known events, they have moved very far from these peaks.
Therefore, even in Yalta in mid-August, you can rent a number for three in a rather modest hotel, but not far from the embankment, from the beaches, for moderate 6-7 thousand rubles a day. A tiny studio for two and also next to the coast will be removed for ~ 4 thousand rubles.
In the remaining resort cities of Crimea, it is possible to rent a room at the hotel or entire apartments … for approximately similar money. In Alushta it will be more expensive, in Sudak and in Yevpatoria – cheaper. But in general, there is no doubt that a family with 1-2 children will be able to find a decent hotel for rest at sea for a contribution in the amount of about 5-6 thousand rubles per day.
Excursions in Crimea are also not particularly expensive. For a walk with a guide to some of the resorts, you will pay from 800-1,000 rubles per person. Participation in the informative bus trip, for example, along the south coast, will cost 1,500 – 2,000 rubles.
How much do the train tickets cost? Alas, we don’t know, and we don’t even have a desire to find out: not only are they (probably) roads, but it’s difficult to get them. In general – if you decide to go, go to rest in the Crimea by car.
For such a solution, in addition to significant savings, will also give you incredible opportunities. In the literal sense – you can very flexibly plan your vacation and, if you wish, you can see all a worthy examination in Crimea.
What to do
Visiting forests in Crimea in August is often forbidden by order of the Ministry of Emergencies due to the high probability of fires. What cuts off events like a walk along the Korea path or, for example, going to the temple of the Sun from Foros.
But the cableway to Ai-Petri from Mishor will work. And you – even for the money in 2025 too much – can go up to one of the best species points of the peninsula. Out, of course, you can climb the plateau by car – and along the way you will receive an unprecedented surge of adrenaline, swinging along the winding mountain serpentine.
Surely it will be possible to visit one of the caves. Both those that are on the Ai-Petri plateau (geophysical, three-eyed), and much more impressive. In particular, we especially recommend that you visit the marble cave and Emine-Bair-Hosar cave on the Chatyrdag plateau-they are halfway from Simferopol to Alushta.
A portion of bright and positive impressions promise riding. They are carried out both in the central part of the peninsula and on the coasts: not far from Alushta, for example, or Sevastopol.
In August, visitors were full of the Livadian Palace with a park, as well as the former residence of the Vorontsovs in Alupka, the Nikitsky Botanical Garden. It is rare that a tourist does not want to see the legendary Sevastopol at least in a day. Well, or will not visit the Sudak fortress – a perfectly preserved sample of medieval fortification art.
The stormy influx of visitors – mainly, of course, the best water parks of Crimea are also experienced with children in August. Evpatoria “Medusa” (“Banana Republic”), Yalta “Atlantis” and Sudak “Water World” are especially popular …
