Hurghada in April and May 2026 – is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, sea and air temperature, whether you can swim and how to dress, prices for tours, air tickets and hotels. What to see in Hurghada in spring, what to do, where to go on an excursion in Egypt – says Eurotraveler.

Hurghada and the nearby villages of El Gouna, Makadi Bay, Soma Bay, Safaga are traditionally among the the most popular among tourists in Egyptian resorts. And this is not surprising: the local climate is too sunny and warm!

Vacationers are attracted by excellent quality beaches covered with soft sand and clear seas. As well as the abundance of hotels with high level of service and beach infrastructure capable of satisfying literally any needs of holidaymakers.

Yes, you will have to look for interesting places in Hurghada. But in general, it is not possible to get bored on vacation here.

After all, the choice of leisure time options is as great as how diverse. You can get to some of the main attractions of Egypt (Luxor and Giza) from Hurghada, and then return back in just 1 daylight hours.

Naturally, it is best to do this not on summer or September days. At least in the spring!

In April and May, Hurghada enjoys weather that is quite hot at times, but still tolerable. In any case, it doesn’t make me want to immediately drop everything and leave.

To some, the climatic conditions of Hurghada, like mid- and late-spring, will still seem overly sultry. But most travelers remember that in the summer in Egypt it becomes not just hot, but really unbearablethey are trying to get out to relax on the Red Sea a little earlier.

Weather in Hurghada in April

March at the resort is considered a time too fresh (read: cool) and not everyone will like it. That is, it was like this before – simultaneously with the transformation of Egypt into a year-round destination, established patterns began to collapse like houses of cards.

And how could it be otherwise? Especially when you study the issue a little more carefully and discover that the air temperature in Hurghada in March is such that the period can almost be called summer.

Prices for tours seem to be in winter hibernation. And they allow, at a minimum, not to go broke by organizing an extraordinary vacation.

However, we are talking here about a little at a later time. Of course, even more optimistic – starting from April, the air temperature in Hurghada, and, in principle, everywhere on the Red Sea coast, during the day regularly stays in the range of +28-32 °C.

Transparently hinting to everyone – you won’t regret it if you come even with small children

In mid-April, air temperatures sometimes rise to +35 °C in Hurghada. But in general this happens sporadically.

So, until the beginning of May, nothing serious threatens vacationers.

At night the air can cool down to +18-20 °C in early April. But closer to May in Hurghada and after sunset it is warm, around +20-24 °C.

People who know the peculiarity of freezing at such temperatures can probably take some things with them to Egypt in the spring insulating things. But for most, those in which they go on such a journey will be enough.

After all, in most of Europe and North America it is much cooler at this time of year!

The length of daylight in Hurghada already on April 1st reaches almost 12.5 hours. At the end of the month it will exceed 13 hours.

Winds are much less annoying than in winter. And who can doubt that the breath of a sea breeze at +28 °C pleasantly refreshingand will not make you tremble and wrap yourself in a towel.

Hurghada in May

At sunset in spring, the Egyptian resort turns into almost an ideal place for a vacation on the South Sea. It becomes hot already at the beginning of May, the atmosphere effortlessly warms up to +30-32 °C, and the sky turns serenely blue day after day.

Prices during the May holidays increase by 10-15% compared to April, but then fall slightly again. Although the heat is only accelerating – by mid-May in Hurghada, daytime air temperatures reach +33-35 °C.

At the end of the month comes that very “African heat” with which better not joke. Both for people with poor health, and even for those who consider themselves healthy.

At night, however, you are still allowed to rest. Because after sunset in Hurghada throughout May it is no higher than +28 degrees Celsius. In most cases, it’s about +25 °C.

One way or another, but from the point of view of young and strong holidaymakers, temperatures are around +35 °C with minimal humidity don’t look too threatening. So they probably won’t want to be bored all the time under a tent or in a hotel room.

Again, by the end of spring, everything becomes good in Hurghada with leisure activities. And for very little money you can ride through the desert on camels or ATVs, go diving, go on a yacht cruise or go far away.

For example, to the Luxor Temple or to Cairo in general.

Length of daylight in Hurghada at the end of May compared to April, growing slightly – up to approximately 13 hours and 45 minutes. But this, as you understand, allows you to plan and carry out a long trip.

Water temperature

In early April, the Red Sea off the coast of Hurghada (and other Egyptian resorts too) warms up to +23-24 °C. Allowing, if not in the morning, then in the evening, even the baby to be bathed.

The excitement is insignificant, so much so what should surfers do in Hurghada at this time literally nothing. But families with children and romantic couples who go to the sea to sleep off and just relax will only welcome this weather.

Divers are equally delighted. Still – they can explore the underwater world in the absence of a noticeable wave and with excellent visibility.

In early to mid-May, people can swim in Hurghada literally everything: “from small to large.” Since the temperature of the water area reaches +25-26 °C.

By the end of the month, the Red Sea warms up to +28, if not +30 °C. That is, temperatures that the Mediterranean Sea never sees even at the peak of the summer season.

Prices 2026

In mid-late April, a tour from Moscow to Hurghada for two will cost an average of 150+ thousand rubles for 6-7 nights. This amount will include insurance and flights, transfers, accommodation in a 4* hotel and all-inclusive meals.

At the same time, no one would call the hotel particularly chic, but for eating and spending the night it will do without any complaints. A really strong “four” with “all inclusive” will cost 170-200 thousand.

Luxurious, well-located five-star hotels cost even more. A couple of vacationers will pay about 250 thousand rubles to stay in them.

When choosing, you should first focus on latest reviews!

As for hotels for independent travelers, we traditionally recommend the excellent Brayka Bay Reef Resort in Marsa Alam.

If it seems to you that it is a little expensive (and it is – from 140 € for two per day in early April), then here is a less ruinous, but also a good option – the 3-star Giftun Azur Resort in Hurghada itself.

Accommodating dear guests, at least, in a spacious bungalow in the garden. And treating them to “all inclusive”!

Things to do

Diving and snorkeling, parasailing, boat and yacht trips, sea fishing – favorite entertainment those who come to relax in Hurghada. In May, when the heat is just beginning to be felt – especially!

Boat excursions and diving around the Giftun Islands are popular. After all, the snow-white sand and impeccable coral reefs there are a real natural jewel.

A moment that immerses tourists in reality, cosmically removed from boring everyday life.

Prosperous holidaymakers are happy to rent a yacht for a few days. And then they will remember theirs for a long time perfect cruise on the Red Sea.

Quite budget-friendly, albeit adrenaline-pumping, ATV safaris in the desert are also popular. Entertainment is more subtle and more expensive – rides on Bedouin horses in off-road areas.

Few people don’t take advantage of chance take a ride to Cairoto the pyramids and the Great Egyptian Museum – to Giza. Yes, in principle, to other interesting sights of Egypt.

Surely you know, but no – we will remind you – that from Hurghada you can easily go on a one-day trip to the temples of Luxor and Karnak – just over 300 km away.

On the other side of the Nile you can visit Valley of the Kings and Queens, see the Colossi of Memnon. Even closer to Hurghada are the Coptic monasteries of St. Anthony and St. Paul.

Excursions to the mausoleums in Abu Simbel are planned for 2-3 days, combined with a cruise on the Nile. And thorough trips to the north of Egypt: to Giza and Saqqara, Cairo and Alexandria.

When is the best time to go?

The Internet is categorical on this score: the best time for a seaside holiday in Hurghada is spring or mid-autumn. For it is during these periods that the local climate is most tolerant to the average holidaymaker.

The sun is not so hot and the winds blow with moderate force. And the sea has warmed up to temperatures that allow literally “everyone” to swim.

Summer Hurghada – even in June – is considered an overly sultry place and is shown to few people. Although individuals who can tolerate high temperatures without problems can happily vacation in Egypt even in July and August.

At the peak of summer, however, air temperatures are sometimes exceeds +50 degrees Celsiusand the breeze doesn’t cool the atmosphere enough. And even the exceptional dryness of the air – rain in these parts is almost nonsense – does not save holidaymakers much.

Trying not to leave the cool shaded areas of hotel pools.

In winter, the Red Sea coast is cool, although this does not discourage those who come to Hurghada in January: New Year and Christmas. Daytime air temperatures range from +18-25 °C, with cooler nights.

They blow enough strong windsturning bathing into a pleasure not for everyone. Although kitesurfing at this time is simply exceptionally good.

Yes, and yachting and fishing in the winter and especially on New Year’s is a popular pastime.

Note that luscious winds often visit Hurghada in early April. And in reviews they either complain about them – “they interfere with swimming” – or praise them – “they pleasantly cool hot skin.”
