How to arrange sick leave during a business trip
If an employee fell ill on a business trip, he first should inform the employer about this. Then he needs to contact the local clinic or medical center, or call an ambulance if the situation is acute. In any case, he should give him a sick leave with the seal of the medical institution.
On a foreign trip, an employee also needs to consult a doctor and get a sick leave from him, which will then need to be exchanged for a Russian -sample document.
The employer, in turn, may make a decision to extend the business trip if the employee did not have time to complete the official task.
How to extend a business trip due to illness
To extend the business trip, it is necessary to release the corresponding order. It should indicate the reason for the extension (in this case, the employee’s disease) and the estimated date of the end of the trip (on the basis of the date of closure of the sick leave and the time necessary to complete the task). Then you need to send a copy of the order to the employee.
However, in the case of some categories of employees, to extend the business trip, it is necessary to get their written consent. These categories include:
- women with children under three years old;
- employees with disabled children;
- Employees alone raising children under five;
- Employees caring for sick relatives.
How to pay sick leave on a business trip
During the employee’s stay on the sick leave, the employer is obliged to pay him a temporary disability benefit, which is calculated on the basis of the sick leave.
All the expenses necessary for extending a business trip are also compensated: per diem, payment of housing and a return ticket on a new date. At the same time, if an employee is in a hospital hospital, funds for a hotel and per diem are not paid. In other cases, the daily per diem during sick leave is paid in the same way as in its absence, that is, for each day of business trips.
