Tashkent in May 2026 – is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, air temperature, how to dress, prices for air tickets and tours, hotels and excursions. What to see in Tashkent at the beginning of May and on the threshold of June, where to visit in Uzbekistan at the end of spring – read the Eurotraveler review.
Gradually and somehow imperceptibly, May turned from a month of demonstrations and trips to the country into an excellent time for short excursion tours. Not for everyone, of course, but for many. Isn’t it difficult to resist the temptation to not only make good use of the extra days off provided by the state, but also have fun?!
In 2026, the vast majority of Russian travelers, of course, are thinking about where they should go in Russia in May: to the sea, to the mountains, or just wander around the cities? But we advise you not to limit yourself only to the borders of your native country.
Fortunately, there are a lot of interesting and promising destinations nearby!
Firstly, visa-free. And secondly, they have not yet been discovered by those very “mass tourists” from whom today there is no escape in some places that were so nice and cozy just recently.
The capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, in May is definitely one of the cities that will not only open their arms to you, but also give you a lot of positive emotions. Even despite a certain lack of its own attractions – after all, there are completely unique places around that you need to visit at least once in your life.
Charvak reservoir and Chimgan mountains, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Kokand – these names alone stir the soul and awaken the imagination. Evoking vague associations with oriental fairy tales and something equally beautiful and extremely exotic.
In general, we recommend it – especially during the period when nature has bloomed brightly, but has not yet dried up under the bright southern sun. And for those who have “free” money, we even recommend becoming a member tour in Uzbekistan (you can do it yourself, why not?).
To get all the fun right on a silver platter without any worries or planning difficulties.
Weather in Tashkent in May
What is called – disposes. For walking around the city and trips to the outskirts of the city. And also, of course, further.
At the beginning of May, the air temperature in Tashkent can rise to +30 and even +35 degrees Celsius. There is no need to expect any particular stability – on other days it can be +25-27 °C, not higher.

Cool at night too! So, if you come to see Tashkent during the May holidays, be prepared for the fact that after sunset you will need a jacket or sweater.
Because the atmosphere at this time of day can cool down to +18-22 °C
In mid-May, air temperatures try to set new records, sometimes exceeding +35 °C. But they don’t permanently settle there – you need to be prepared for even brief but significant cold snaps down to +18-24 °C.
But at the end of May, real Central Asian food finally comes to Tashkent summer. With the heat melting the asphalt and literally impossible to walk in open spaces in the middle of the day.
In the mornings or evenings, you can catch up on lost time by taking a walk (excursion – prices here) to remarkable places. Since air temperatures during these periods do not exceed +23-25 °C, breathing is easy!
The duration of daylight hours in Tashkent during May ranges from 14 to almost 15 hours
At the beginning of the month, the sun rises above the horizon at 5.20 and sets at 19.20. On the threshold of summer, the luminary does the same thing about half an hour earlier and later, respectively.
Here is the weather forecast in Tashkent for the coming days.
What to take with you
Even if you go to Uzbekistan on your own, you will have to collect a bunch of documents outside. Russians do not need a visa to visit the country. A foreign passport is enough.
You won’t have to register for migration if you stay in the republic for less than 15 days – uzbekistan.mid.ru/ru/vremennoe_prebyvanie_v_uzbekistane/.
It is not necessary to take out medical travel insurance. Although on specialized forums it is still recommended to do this.
Especially if you are going on a trip with small children and are completely unaware of what to do if your child then develops a fever
By the way, to enter Uzbekistan a minor accompanied by only one parent will need notarized consent to travel outside the Russian Federation from the second.
Adapters for sockets are not required; they have a similar Russian standard. But a currency cache, as well as a plastic card that works outside of Russia, will not hurt – you will not be able to pay using the MIR payment system in Uzbekistan.
A Russian citizen can try to get a card from one of the Uzbek banks here – this is a simple and not too expensive procedure. Which, however, will require time and obtaining a local tax number.

Prices 2026
A flight from Moscow to Tashkent and back during the May holidays is not cheap – about 35 thousand rubles per person. And if you think that by moving the dates to the middle or end of the month you will gain in price, then in vain!
Since the price in this direction depends little on tourist flows.
But Tashkent hotels are not particularly expensive in the last month of spring. For example, a room in the excellent Grand Art Premium Hotel (city center, by the way) in early May costs less than 70 € for two per night. Moreover, this is the final amount: taking into account the tourist tax and even breakfast for two!
In the brand new modern Avant Hotel Tashkent Pool&Terrace, which is not so well located in relation to the main attractions, you will pay even less for a room – about 50 €. Breakfast is included in the price here too, and the main amusement park in the country, Magic City, is within walking distance from the hotel.
The prices for most excursions look more than reasonable. For a sightseeing tour of Tashkent with a guide, ordered online, you will most likely pay even less than 30 €.
A one-day trip to the Chimgan Mountains looming invitingly on the horizon and to the magnificent Charvak reservoir costs about 50 € per person.
But a one-day trip to Samarkand accompanied by a guide will cost 160 €. But, of course, it’s not difficult to pull off a similar maneuver on your own: train tickets can be bought online, and an on-site excursion will cost much less.
Will help equally save money and an independent organized trip to Bukhara. Train tickets to which destination (for example, from Samarkand) are purchased online. In exactly the same way, you can book a hotel near the old city – through the well-known Booking.com.
Things to do
It seems quite natural to want to make 100% use of the opportunities provided by the warm May weather. So you should initially prepare for long walks around cities and similar trips to their surroundings.
In Tashkent itself, first of all – in May and any other month – you need to see the buildings on Khast-Imam Square – they somehow miraculously survived the 1966 earthquake.
The following are also considered mandatory events in the capital of Uzbekistan:
- climbing the local TV tower, which is very similar in appearance to the Moscow one in Ostankino and promises to provide approximately similar impressions
- visit to the Chorsu market in order to get acquainted with the realities of a real oriental bazaar, as well as purchase authentic souvenirs and products. Someone comes to the market for another purpose – at the local “Pilaf Center” they perfectly know how to prepare this national dish and for now they are trying to restrain their own price appetites
- visit to the Museum of Applied Arts. In the halls of which an excellent collection is exhibited, illustrating the skills of local jewelers, minters, artists and craftsmen.
There is nothing simpler and more logical than getting outside of Tashkent in May. Not only to nature, to the same Chimgan mountains, but also – mainly – to cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
We will also advise you get to know Kokandwhich is rarely reached by foreign tourists. Despite the fact that this city has been preserved very well!
The village of Rishtan in the Fergana Valley is not particularly well known. Considered, meanwhile, to be the largest center in Central Asia for the production of incredibly beautiful ceramic tableware.
And the village of Sentob is still completely unknown, having retained all its authenticity as a mountain village. Which is located in an area ideal for ecotourism.
