Nepal is a country of monasteries and Buddhist temples, lost among the eight high mountain peaks in the world. The mountains of Nepal are pulling like a magnet, climbers and travelers who are fond of hiking, and it is clear why – 85 percent of the country’s territory is covered with majestic Himalayas.
In this article, the ONETWOTRIP rest director Yevgeny Trofimchuk will reveal secrets, which is worth being prepared for the first to go to tracking along one of the numerous foot routes of Nepal, the duration of which can vary from one day to a month.
What tracks are there
The routes are designed for both newcomers and travelers. If the route lasts more than a day, the tour is designed so that every night tourists will spend the night in comfortable cottages or guesthouses with a shower and wi-fay.
Some companies gain organized groups and go on the road with tents. To make the campaign as comfortable as possible, the team has guides, cooks and porters. This type of tracking is popular on new or “wild” paths.

For the first time, choose tracks no longer than 5 days. For a hiking trip to the mountains, you do not need physical training of a professional athlete. You can always stop resting, the guide will not drive you.

Numerous travel agencies and shops in Kathmandu
Finding the guide in the Kathmandu and the option for the track is easy. In the city at every step there are travel agencies and private offices that offer a variety of campaigns.
When to go
It all depends on the specific track; If the height does not exceed 3000 meters, then it is better to go from April to October. More serious heights are best conquered from May to July. For each specific region, before the trip, we advise you to watch the weather forecast and the seasonality of the campaigns.
Track. Find the track is easy. For example, I agreed right at the hotel at the reception on the personal guide and the track Pun Hill Gorepani, lasting 5 days. Travel services right at the hotel – a common thing for Nepal. For Nepalskoye “All inclusive” plus the road from Kathmandu before the start of the track (133 kilometers) and vice versa, I gave about 27,000 rubles, and this is with the trade.
Before paying for the campaign, I decided to find out the prices from travel agencies on the street to check how adequate the price, but no one agreed to make the price of a similar track below. The price, apparently, was really good.
This “all inclusive” included all the nights, transportation costs, three meals a day and the services of a personal guide for 6 days. (5 days of the track + day on the road before the start and back).
The price also included permission (permit) for visiting the Annapurna National Park, in the territories of which the track, as well as the tracker registration card (for accounting and security) ran.
Lifehack. If you did not bring equipment with you, everything you need can be bought in large cities of Nepal. The prices, although not very high, do not forget to bargain. There are a lot of shops in cities.

With a friendly company of Chinese tracks / very often the trail looks that way
Mountain disease
Keep in mind that usually a mountain disease begins at an altitude of more than 3500 meters. So if you do not have special training, then choose your track so that it does not exceed this height.
I also do not advise you to go on jeeps on “high excursions.” Since the body should get used to the height gradually.
What to take with you
If you are not going to conquer Everest the first time, then a large amount of equipment is not required. The main thing, do not forget that everything will have to be carried on yourself. You can hire a porter, if finances allow you, in this case you can dial more things.
Backpack. Be sure to go hiking. The number of liters (capacity) depends on the number of things that you will suffer with you. According to experienced trackers, 40-50 liters are the optimal volume.
Shoes. Buy good tracking boots in advance and disperse them so that on the campaign they do not begin to rub and cause discomfort.
If the track is not very complicated, then you can do with good sneakers – my option.
Warm things. The heat and sun can be misleading in the afternoon, but warm things are needed. As you rise higher, the temperature will drop at night lower. I spent a couple of nights under two blankets and in a tracksuit. Although in the afternoon was + 25 S.
Charging and electricity. With electricity in the mountains trouble. Enough ordinary rain or strong wind to turn off the supply of electricity. So take with you the required number of batteries for equipment and do not forget about the ranges.
Lifehack. Still grab the tee, as the sockets in the parking lots are in limited quantities. With the tee, you are guaranteed the sympathy of others in the guesthouse.
Food/water. Water, as a rule, is not included in the cost of the track. You can buy it on parking lots or replenish stocks in the columns on the trail. You can drink this water without fear. You can eat in different guesthows that are found along the way. It is better not to try exotic foods, since the nearest good hospital is not in Nepal =) Keep in mind that the Nepalers almost do not eat bread and do not know what “but Peace of Bread, Please!”. The local cake is called “Chapati.”
Lifehack. Bat was best ordered to order – this is rice with different additives. Serve it either with vegetables or with chicken. You can ask for a supplement for free until you come to go! The rule acts in all Nepal. They will complement everything except a portion of meat. The dish is quite tasty and satisfying! As the locals say, Dal Bhat Power 24 Hour!

A traditional dish gave a ball: rice with various fillings
Cards/GPS. It is worth taking if you go to the track one, if with a guide, it makes no sense.
Other:
1. Road first -aid kit.
2. Sticks for trekking (at your discretion). On simple tracks, they are not needed.
3. If the backpack allows, then grab the second pair of shoes.
5. Cream from tanning. In the afternoon in the sun you can quickly burn out.
6. Insurance, which applies to tracking. Check carefully.
7. Thermos and tea bags. On any parking lot, you can pour boiling water for free.
8. Sushilles for shoes and a small hair dryer. You can dry things with a hairdryer)
Overnight. You have to spend the night in the guesthouse (guest houses). In Nepal, the guesthouse has its own characteristics, in particular, the owners of the house live there at the same time. The rooms are very simple, Spartan conditions. The walls are knocked out of chipboard, there is almost no noise insulation. But there is a comfortable bed with a very warm blanket, a socket, a hanger and chic views: almost all windows overlook the mountains.

This is how typical guest houses look like
As a rule, in the guesthouse there is hot water and shower where you can wash (free). Water can be in limited quantities, so do not forget about other guests. It will have to wash things with your hands, there are no washing machines there. But you can dry wet things at the stove. Each guesthus has a large stove-birch stove in the common hall. In the evening, large travelers from different ends of the Earth gather around her. People warm up, communicate, share emotions from the campaign.
Lifehack. The owners of the guesthouse can be asked to give you the Internet so that you can upload your photos from the track in social networks.
In the same place, in the guesthouse, you can ask you to cook breakfast/lunch/dinner for you. Everything is tasty and inexpensive.
Lifehack. If you go to the track one, without a guide and preliminary armor of a guesthouse, you can try to agree to spend the night for free, but with the condition that you will order dinner or breakfast. This is a common practice among trackers.
Insects and vaccinations. At your discretion. There are no harsh requirements before the track.
Lifehack. I advise you to buy a good raincoat at home, because in Nepal they are very poor quality.
In conclusion
The impressions of the track are incredible. Photos and videos cannot convey the feeling when you are there, at the foot of the mountains 8,000 meters high. So, being in Nepal, do not sorry time and money and be sure to go on a hike!
