Venice in April 2026 – is it worth going? Weather and reviews, air temperature, how to dress, prices in hotels and excursions. What to see in Venice in April, what to do for adults and families with children, where you can go to the Veneto and beyond – says Eurotraveler.
Even Ivan Sergeevich Turgenev wrote in his novel “On the Eve”: “Whoever has not seen Venice in April is hardly familiar with all the untold charm of this magical city.” Centuries have passed, but this statement has not lost its relevance!
However, it is impossible to say that many people are guided by it today. Because in April, Venice only sees a real tourist invasion for 2-3 days – if the Catholic holiday is celebrated this month Easter (in 2026 the holiday falls on 04/05).
And the rest of the time, the “City on the Water” may not be deserted, but it does not seem to be crowded with loitering individuals.
Of course, you need to use this. And not only because you are given a wonderful opportunity to walk along the embankments without constantly watching the backs of the citizens ahead.
But also because even at the beginning of April the weather in Venice does not tend to annoy the traveler. Although, it would seem, on the edge of cold March, she could make an effort for this.
But no, on the contrary! Moreover, from our point of view, she looks better than her “colleague” in May.
Both in terms of precipitation falling per head (there is less of it), and the number clear days
And, of course, prices. For in the middle of spring, on the banks of the Grand Canal they are just beginning to figure out what kind of profit they can count on in the coming season.
Weather in Venice in April
It is distinguished by an abundance of very warm days and therefore deserves exceptional praise. reviews. At least from the side of active travelers who like to wander around a lot.
Natures who prefer to contemplate, frozen on some bench on the embankment, may remain dissatisfied with some coolness. But the majority will find no reason to be dissatisfied.
At the beginning of April, the air temperature in Venice during the day prefers to vibrate in the range of +12-15 °C. And only at night it drops to +5-8 °C.

In the second half of the month, the atmosphere can warm up during the day to +18-20 degrees Celsius. Although, of course, there are days when street thermometers stubbornly do not show more than +14-15 °C even at noon.
At the very end of April, Venice becomes significantly warmer, and a kind of change in weather moods occurs. Nature seems to suddenly turn its face towards people, and the sun effortlessly and almost every day heats the air to +20 and above degrees Celsius.
With some variations, but this picture in the middle of spring is repeated in Venice from year to year. The air temperature may be lower or higher, but there is still a clear promise of warmer times in the atmosphere.
The sun shines so brightly, as if it was bored during the winter and rejoices at the opportunity to see all that beauty below again. The sky is gently blue, vaporetto water buses are busily scurrying across the greenish and surprisingly not at all dirty surface of the lagoon, and fresh but gentle breezes are blowing in from the sea.
Precipitation
Rains are not that rare, but in any case they are not hopeless. Venetian mid-spring showers have the pleasant property of ending quickly.
And their power, unlike autumn, does not make you depressed. On the contrary, you feel that nature is washing away the fatigue that has accumulated over the winter.
The average monthly precipitation is about 90 mm, which is noticeably less than May figures. The number of rainy days is 5-6 per month.

How to dress
If you read online reviews about a trip to Venice in mid- or late April, you will be surprised to find that some tourists take quite summer things. That is, tourists, of course – they can’t wait to change into summer sundresses and miniskirts!
And, what’s most interesting, you don’t have to complain about your own frivolity later. On the contrary, it turns out that the weather seems to be lenient towards such escapades.
Not trying to freeze at the first opportunity. Even the fresh winds blowing over the lagoon are losing their former – if you came to see Venice in December, you should understand what we are talking about – winter harshness.
At the same time, we recommend that you do not forget to put more in your suitcase. warm clothes. After all, in April, Venice seems to be created for romantic walks under the moon and similar entertainment.
Which – we repeat, at night it can be only +5 ° C – is unlikely to inspire those who are dressed only in a light jacket.
Equally, you will not regret if you take umbrellas with you and even raincoats. Tourists who travel to Venice by car may well take rubber boots with them.
And then feel like real “kings”, compared to other tourists, shod in disposable plastic boots for 15 € a pair.
We assure you that for this amount you can buy inexpensive souvenirs in Italy – and very original ones. For example, products made from Murano glass: simple ladies’ jewelry, rings, earrings, beads and bracelets cost about the same.
Equally, for 15 € you can have a quick snack in a cafe. Not the trickiest of Italian dishes, of course, most likely: pizza or pasta.
But this is enough to continue walking again until your legs go on strike.
Prices 2026
Those who have already been to Venice before and know what they can save on here will not be too shocked. For example, on accommodation – subject to early booking, you can find a good option for two for about 150-170 € per day.
And in Venice itself, and not in Mestre!
After all, rooms in hotels and apartments in the Cannaregio area, as well as Castello and Dorsoduro, are 15-25 percent cheaper than those in San Marco. Severely overpriced due to its proximity to the famous basilica and the same palace.
At the same time, everyone somehow forgets that once again seeing the sights of Venice and walking through it is the dream of any sane person?! It wouldn’t be a shame to pay extra for such an opportunity, would it?!
By the way, lovers of silence and solitude can pay attention to Giudecca. An incredibly atmospheric island where tourists usually wander purely out of ignorance.
Our friends who were visiting Venice last April did just that, finding a cozy and not (ugly) expensive B&b Giudecca Bella. Quiet, clean… located close to the vaporetto stop.
Using it, you will be wandering around St. Mark’s Square in 15 minutes!
However, if you are lucky and get a discount, you can stay closer to the center for the same amount. For example, in Locanda Ca’ Zose in the Dorsoduro area.

In Mestre
We strongly recommend the inexpensive (from 80 € for two per night), but advantageously located Hotel Delle Rose. It is convenient to get to both the airport and Venice itself (tram line T1).
There is also a supermarket nearby. Where, if you wish, you can buy so much tasty (and healthy) food that you won’t be able to eat it during your entire trip)
Another good option (judging by the reviews) is Staycity Aparthotels Venice Mestre, located in pleasant proximity to the bus stop and Mestre train station. Accommodation there in April also costs about 80-90 € per night.
And this, again, is very little compared to what hoteliers ask for in Venice itself!
Tours
A high-quality individual excursion, which introduces the tourist to the main attractions, including the inside, in 2 hours, costs from 30-35 €. A little more, usually from 40 €, will be paid by those travelers who want to visit Murano and Burano in the company of a guide.

Things to do
You definitely won’t have any shortage of opportunities! So, abandon the idea of coming to Venice in April for just a couple of days – you won’t even have time to really explore it in 3 days main attractions “Cities on the water”!
Because you will constantly “hang” in one place. Trying to forever preserve in memory this piercing beauty, as if it had just been painted on a fresh canvas.
In general, yes. Piazza San Marco, the Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and, for a snack, Santa Maria della Salute – that’s all on the first day. San Giorgio Maggiore and the Accademia Gallery, Frari Basilica are on the second.
A trip to the islands of Torcello and Burano, to the glassblowers on the island of Murano (best of all – in that order!) will diversify the third day of your vacation.
By the way, buy a vaporetto pass for 3 days or even a week. Because this way you will save a significant amount!
Young people absolutely need to get a Rolling Venice! (to save even more money – read more here)
On the fourth day you can rest and go nowhere. Just walk along the narrow streets and admire the sun’s glare in the canals for a long time.
Well, or – if you are young and active – plan a tour of Verona: Juliet’s House, the amphitheater and other not too obvious attractions.
It would be nice to leave time for a trip to Treviso and even the Dolomites – in the middle of spring they make an exceptionally vibrant impression. Lovers of beautiful natural views may well want to pay a visit to Lake Garda.
