What to see in Tuscany First of all: the main attractions and interesting places of the Italian region. The trip route by car, distances, where to stay for the night? What cities of Tuscany should you visit during a trip, where to relax at sea, I found out Eurotraveler.
Tuscany is a region for aesthetic tourists. That area in Italy, which is practically devoid of shortcomings, and is filled with sights – as a casket of Indian raja – treasures.
The terrain is customary to praise in every way, simultaneously admiring the subtle taste and extraordinary thinking of the travelers who visited it. And cherishing the thought that someday you (again?) You will come to look at Tuscany.
Once again, you will see Pisa and for a long time you will caress the Pisa tower. Thinking, for example, about how perfect the imperfect things are.
You go to see Sienna for 1 day and get stuck there for a week. Having discovered that the usual guidelines are displaced in this city. And you just physically feel that you are not able to part with such a delicious Jalato and a doused sun with an old city, where time – it seems – does not matter.
You will visit Lucca, who gave Italy and the world of the solar composer Jaccomo Puchini. And you will spend another day on the next inspection of the main attractions of Florence – it’s a sin not to go once again in Uffizi or Duomo?
All this time around the delicate green-yellow tones will be hunched over rounded hills with pyramids of cypresses, as if resting under an absolutely serene, pale blue sky. And swim past the ocher flowers old, folded centuries ago Cities.
Needless to say, you begin to understand why it was in Tuscan that Michelangelo and da Vinci grew up and grew up. The incomparable Rafael became a genius …
To see Tuscany in all its glory, to completely immerse yourself in the reality and the past of the homeland of the Renaissance, one should not rush. Again, first you need to develop a detailed
Route
movements in the region. Not too intricate, so as not to curse the very idea during an attempt to realize it. But at the same time, allowing you to see all the most interesting places in Tuscany.
And this is not easy, attractions in the region – more than enough! Our version of the trip by car by the most (all subjectively) to the beautiful region of Italy is described below!
The attractions of Tuscany
The option we offer to your attention is designed for about a week. For a shorter time to see Tuscany, to visit its most beautiful places, in our opinion, is impossible. But you also need to devote time to real rest and relaxation.
Pisa
We will start with this city. And not because there is a falling Pizan tower, well known to everyone from school! It is just at the Pisan airport that the flights of many Lowe Costes land land.
After you leave the plane and pass passport control, do not leave the Galileo Galileo Airport terminal, by the way, a native of Tuscany, right away! And right on the spot, rent an extremely convenient from the point of view of future parking in small towns “Baby”-Auto like Fiat Panda or Opel Corso.
Then – yes – you can directly proceed to the implementation of the planned plan. And of course, you should start by examining the main attractions of Pisa. The town, famous for its “sad” bell tower. But possessing a number of other, extremely interesting places.
We especially recommend visiting the Pizan Cathedral of the Romanesque style, as well as Santa Maria della, a graceful church, which I still want to take with you. After all, in appearance, she is just an ideal box for jewelry?! Bigly, true …
Bapsisteria on Miracles Square in Pisa, Piazza dei Mijacoli – “Miracles Square” – and Kampo Santo, the land for which was specially taken out of Calvary, examined at will. Well, that is, it is quite natural that you don’t want them outside – you will see anyway.
You can’t even enter the zone of ZTL (the “Limitato Traffic”, which traditionally includes the ancient centers of Italian cities), and they will be fined, and funds from the card (necessary when signing the lease agreement) will be written off absolutely automatically. With free parking in Pisa is often quite stressful, although you can find a place a kilometer from the center. Prices on paid parking lots range from 1 to 2.5 € per hour.
Where to stop
If you decide to spend the night in Pisa, then you obviously will not fail. Since it will turn out to rent a room in the city hotel for a very pretty amount in the region of 90-110 € per day for two (this is in May, plus a small city tax). And our undoubted favorite in Pisa – Villa Magnolia Park.
Beautiful old house, spacious rooms with high ceilings, delicious breakfasts, welcoming hosts, free private parking … And yes-from the Hotel-Village for only 10 minutes on the field of miracles and the Pizan tower!
Well, we … we go to inspect the sights of Tuscany further!
Lucca
Having overcome only 23 km from Pisa on a paid road, you will arrive in another interesting city in the region. Lucca is less famous than Pisa, but no less beautiful.
At the epicenter of tourist interests, a local cathedral with a campalla, partially lined with travertine, should be in the epicenter of tourist interests. And another church, San Mikele-In-Fero, due to the size and wealth of outdoor decoration, often mistaken for the main temple of the city.
The visiting card of Lucca is the guiniji tower with an oak grove (!) At the very top. The fortification has as much as 44 meters of height, and the views from it open remarkable. Indeed, as in many other small cities in Italy, in Lucca they do not want to build faceless skyscrapers.
The famous native of the city is the composer Jakomo Puccini. His house is now turned into a museum.
Hotels, of course, in abundance! We once stayed in a modest and inexpensive Stella with free parking and prepaid breakfasts.
Florence
It is literally impossible to say that you looked at Tuscan, while not seeing its main city. Moreover, to go from Pisa to Florence only 75 km (from Lucca – about 70 km), that is, a little more than an hour.
To take for an inspection all day is literally funny. And in 2 days to see Florence with all its attractions is difficult. However, there is a chance that you will quickly get tired and want to go further.
For the capital of Tuscany is almost always crowded with tourists! In view of which they do not care too much about prices in hotels and restaurants, as well as the quality of dishes. Jalato here is almost everywhere ordinary, paste and pizza, as well as other dishes of original Italian cuisine in restaurants and cafes are often no better than store.
With the help of an erudite guide to Florence, however, you can easily and quickly fall in love. And irrevocably!
Get out to stop in Florence for the night – you do not settle in the very center. Our recommendation is IL Grillo di Firenze B&B with parking in a closed area and – you guessed correctly – “very good breakfasts”.
San Jiminyano
Being in Tuscany, it is simply unreasonable not to call into the “City of 14 Bates”. If UNESCO itself has already noticed him, then it is simply a sin to ignore an ordinary tourist to ignore such a famous place. Moreover, San Jiminyano is very convenient: halfway from Florence to Sienna.
The main minus is that there are often a lot of tourists in the town, especially organized, walking along the streets with a friendly slender detachment. A pleasant plus – the car will be wrapped for free from the city walls.
Volturra
Having twisted a little along the winding paths (about 40 km) and driving even further sideways from the highway connecting Florence with Siena, you will fall into Voltaurra. A charming sleepy town, peaceful, like a lizard in the sun.
Guidebooks say something important about the city walls and gates. But you just walk the streets and look from its walls to Tuscany. We guarantee that something similar to Nirvana will visit you!
Sienna
“Stirlitz, and I will ask you to stay,” for some reason this phrase wants to start a conversation about Sienna. The city is old and proud, incredibly beautiful and charismatic. But the mass tourist of interest – and this is good – as if in passing.
This is a big mistake, but let the majority do it further. And the minority will come and find what to see in Sienna and in 2-3 days. Or even a week?!
In order to remember this time with warmth later. Since it is in Siena that Tuscany’s heart beats!
Stopping in the city center traveling by car tourists, again, is completely unreasonable. It is much more visionary to stop near him – for example, in an inexpensive and very comfortable Cameere di Betta, from our point of view simply perfect for car travelers.
Montalchino
Also, not spoiled by the attention of the package foreigners, a town of 45 km south of Sienna is famous for his wine Brunello. As if the best and most expensive in Italy is 35 €, I remember, it was a minimum price for a bottle in there.
However, you can buy alcohol and cheaper – Rosso di Montalchino is valued from 12 € per bottle. If you don’t specifically configure yourself, you will not feel any difference with it three times an expensive fellow.
An hour or two, spent in Montalchino, can be fully considered as a psychotherapy in Tuskansky. You sit on yourself on a stone wall heated by the sun, you look from the hill to the green-blue fields, which closed far with the sky, you feel real happiness.
- What to see in Montalchino in Tuscany per day
Sorano
The city in the south of Tuscany, which was comfortable on the fragile tuff cliff, is almost not known to the general public. A similar place in Pitillano – by hearing among advanced European auto tutorists. But Sorano has not yet been rattling.
An extra reason to spend the day here, fully feeling an unusual, sometimes even slightly gloomy aura for the old Etruscan settlement. You can stop in a kind of parador, Hotel Della Fortezza, equipped in an ancient stone house on the territory of the family fortress of the Roman family of Orsini.
Surprisingly inexpensive, given its appearance and the presence of a free (!) Parking.
Phoenilla
After you make the entire path indicated above, it makes sense to relax at sea for several days – you definitely deserve it! And, in order not to return to the Viaredzhio resort, the most popular and known to the general public Primorsky place in Tuscany, you can move to the coast in the area of the sandy beach of the Phoenilla.
It is about 6 km of sand. The shore is almost not equipped in terms of amenities (sun loungers, tents, changing rooms and showering), but promises simply an excellent, carefree pastime.
Next to the phenyle, there is a camping that we will not advise – the Italians themselves scold it.
Therefore, it is better to stop in the town of Porto-Erolo at Cape Argentario, or in Ansedonia. Both there and there family hotels and apartments are not particularly cheap. But you will definitely complete the trip along the Tuscany on a high note!
