Yerevan in March 2026 – Is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, air temperature, how to dress, prices for air tickets and hotels, on excursions. What to do and what to see in Yerevan in March, where to go in Armenia – says Eurotraveler.
Yerevan, like the whole of Armenia, is not yet a place where foreign tourists willingly go. After all, here there is no sea and no sea is expected. This means that you won’t be able to combine an interesting pastime with a beach holiday.
Many people are somehow not used to spending their summer vacation only on the first things. But a few dayscarved out in the middle of everyday work – why not? Again, there are weekends too?!
That’s why in March Yerevan, if it hasn’t turned into a popular destination, definitely sees “its” traveler. Active and eager to discover new places, does not like to sit still and loves postcard views.
Moreover, the Armenian capital welcomes spring much earlier than, for example, Moscow. And it is located relatively close to the Russian capital – the flight is less than 4 hoursit’s the same as before Sochi!
There are interesting places in Yerevan and nearby. Reviews often mention the truly warm aura of the “pink city”.
The excursions offered here are inexpensive and extremely varied. Both in the capital of Armenia itself and in its wonderful surroundings!
Yes, you yourself you can visit a lot — you just need to rent a car. Because the Transcaucasian country is relatively small, and the distances here will not frighten even a novice driver.
Weather in Yerevan in March
It’s unlikely that anyone would call her hot. But what she exceptionally good suitable for walks and trips, characterized by an abundance of clear days – definitely!
In early March, the daytime air temperature in Yerevan rarely rises above +10-12 degrees Celsius. At night you should expect, if not frost, then near-zero temperatures.

All this is tolerated, however, tolerantly even by thin-skinned people who tend to freeze everywhere.
For precipitation in the Armenian capital at the dawn of spring is rare, as is the frowning sky. Equally remains acceptable, that is, generally healthy levelhumidity – usually it does not exceed 60%.
By the middle of the month you can expect air temperatures to rise to +13-15 °C. And at the end of March Yerevan welcomes real spring — in other years, thermometers show up to +20-22 degrees Celsius.
In general, the most optimal conditions are created for vigorous tourism activity. And not necessarily independently organized – the services of erudite guides in Yerevan are inexpensive.
Note that spring warming in Armenia is rarely smooth
On the contrary, in most cases temperatures jump like mountain goats. From +12 degrees to zero and then back.
Temperature dips, however, almost always have short-term nature. And you won’t be able to really freeze – the bright sun and the city houses gently shining in its rays will quickly warm you up and lift your spirits.
How to dress
If we are talking about a trip to Yerevan in the first half of March, warm clothes won’t hurt. As an addition to a demi-season jacket with a lining (it’s better to leave the winter down jacket at home), you should take a wool cardigan, sweater or jacket with you.
Fans of evening walks will definitely benefit from scarves and gloves. And for those who freeze easily even at +10 °C – even hats.
After all, hypothermia is probably not included in the plans of romantically minded citizens planning to bring their beloved to Yerevan on March 8?!
Insulated clothing, by the way, will be needed not only when walking around the capital of Armenia, but also – especially – when traveling outside its borders

Will you go see Khor Virap and Araratgoing to Dilijan or just visiting Lake Sevan. Usually, the ice crust does not part with the ice until the beginning of April – the highlands dictate their own rules.
At the end of March, warmer weather sets in in Armenia. And you can dress more frivolously – in windbreakers and thin spring coats.
In any case, some reviews say that nothing more thorough is required – irecommend.ru/content/ya-khotela-posmotret-krasoty-no.
Here is what you can see on your own in Yerevan.
Prices 2026
Air tickets for direct flights from Moscow to Yerevan and back will cost at least 23-30 thousand rubles (230-300 €, only with hand luggage and luggage) per person. If you manage to purchase them in December-January, no later.
Yerevan hotels will not go bankrupt in March either. Or even better, apartments – living in them is often cheaper!
The most inexpensive (but who says it’s bad???) option is family guest houses and mini-hotels. In this segment, it makes sense to focus on the level of up to 40 € per day.
For that kind of money it will work rent something like a studio at Apart hotel Alex. With a kitchen, albeit small. And, of course, not the most central location.
Do you want to settle in the center, within a short walking distance from the Cascade, Freedom and Republic Squares? Then prepare… not such an impressive amount!
Because in the guest house with the self-explanatory name Yerevan’s Heart they will rent you a room for two for only 50 €. Moreover, for this money you can enjoy truly impressive homemade breakfast.
Participation in a city tour, as mentioned above, will cost ~20 €. You can make an exciting country trip outside the city: to Etchmiadzin, to Garni and Geghard, to Lake Sevan if you invest 25-30 € in this business.

Independent travelers who are confident in their driving skills will probably think about renting a car. It’s good that he is in Armenia relatively inexpensive (from 30 €) and is literally the key that can “open” the whole country.

Things to do
One way or another, you need to devote a day or (better) two sightseeing of Yerevan. By taking several independent walks, or – if this is your first time here – by paying for a sightseeing tour.
We advise independent citizens to pay special attention to urban center development. Not at all ancient, created according to the design of Soviet architects in the best traditions of the Stalinist Empire style.
The core of the Armenian capital is the white and pink Republic Square. Looking especially impressive on a sunny morning
By the way, it’s worth staying here even after you finish photo sessions. The reason is obvious – the square has settled down and National Gallery of Armeniawhich has a simply excellent collection of paintings.
Mostly, of course, local authors – including the paintings of Hovhannes Ayvazyan. That is, excuse me, Ivan Aivazovsky.
Another classic landmark of the city is Cascade staircasefrom the upper flights of which excellent views open. Some tourists book tickets in advance for performances in city Opera House.
Especially after walking around the city painted in such optimistic colors!
Where to go

The Garni Temple, a restored antique “statue”, is usually just a point on the way to a much more historically important place, Geghard Monastery. It is difficult to get to except by car.
That’s why we recommend that you either rent a car or book an excursion. Like literally everything here, it’s absolutely inexpensive.
Definitely necessary see Etchmiadzin Monastery. Moreover, you can get to it from Yerevan on your own – by minibus.
Almost every excursion in this direction will not miss ruins of Zvartnots“Temple of Vigilant Angels”.
Every first tourist strives to personally see in Armenia Khor Virap Monastery. Not even because of himself – mainly because of the mesmerizing view of the two-humped Ararat.
Excursion tours to Khor Virap often include the Areni Cave and Noravank Monastery. Plus, sometimes we have lunch—that’s the beauty—at a restaurant serving Armenian cuisine.
Note that Noravank is one of the iconic sights of Armenia. And, although it is not as old as the churches of Vagharshapat, it is located in fantastically beautiful areaamong the red rocks.
Many tourists arrive in Noravank in the middle of the day, fearing to then travel back in the dark. And in vain – at sunset the gorge turns into completely unreal colors!
And you can easily stay overnight at the excellent and inexpensive Areni Wine Cellar nearby!
Naturally, even in March one cannot ignore the “Armenian Sea”, Lake Sevan. Not even for the sake of fishing – the reservoir will almost certainly still be covered with ice – but to see it in person Sevanavank monastery. It looks very modest, organically integrated into the landscape, somehow especially poignant.
You can sit here for hours admiring the lake. And even experience something very reminiscent of nirvana.
