Every winter in the Rhine Valley in Germany, carnivals are held in Germany, this tradition for hundreds of years. In every city, the carnival is called in its own way: Fasching in Cologne and Karneval in Dusseldorf. The season of the carnivals is called the Fifth Season, it begins on November 11 at 11 a.m.

1. Carnival in Cologne

After the assault, the mayor will announce the beginning of the carnival and everyone will go to celebrate. On this day, women make fun of men and even by tradition they cut off their ties.
In the following days, concerts and music processions in masquerade costumes will be held on the streets of Kyulna, and a festive menu will appear in restaurants and beer. The culmination of the carnival will occur on February 12, in Rosenmontag (pink Monday). A magnificent procession in masquerade costumes, surrounded by horsemen, hundreds of musicians and brightly decorated with carts, from which gingerbread and sweets will be thrown into the crowd, will be held along the main street of the city. About 1.5 million people will come to look at the Cologne Carnival.

2. Carnival in Dusseldorf
Carnival in Dusseldorf, which takes place every year from the end of the 15th century, the second most important after Cologne. The protagonist of the carnival is a mischievous jester of the Hoppeditz. On the 11th, 11 months at 11 o’clock, the jester wakes up on the main square of the city and announces the beginning of the celebration. The elections of the Prince and Princess Carnival follow.
The six -day holiday begins with a procession from the town hall on February 8 at 18.00. The most interesting events of the Dusseldorf carnival: comic competitions in the Niderakassel area, a parade with the participation of 60 platforms, which have huge dolls that make fun of politicians from around the world, and the funeral of the jester of the Hoppeditsa on February 12, 2018, during which they announce the closure of the carnival.

3. Carnival in Mainz
