Minsk in April 2026 – Is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, air temperature in Belarus, probability of rain, how to dress, prices for tickets and hotels, excursions and tours. What to do and what to see in Minsk in April, where to go with a child and travel nearby – says Eurotraveler.
We won’t argue and even agree – you don’t want to travel anywhere in April! What are you talking about – it’s time to think about more practical things, for example, about a trip somewhere in Russia in May. Or about summer vacation in general.
Which one is it – very close!
However, all this does not completely negate the opportunity to take a short sightseeing tour. Which can easily or with a slight “creak” fit into a couple of weekends and greatly diversify boring everyday life. At the same time, without hitting the family budget with a hammer.
That’s why it’s like this today “Weekend tours” are popular to Kaliningrad. One- and two-day trips to cities such as Nizhny Novgorod or Kazan, Vladimir, Suzdal and others like them.
What if you go a little further? And spread your attention to Belarus – in April it gets noticeably warmer in Minsk, and there are more sunny days.
Plus it’s unusual here. And even a little exotic for the Russian tourist.
In pre-pandemic and pre-sanction times, he preferred to travel by car in Western Europe. And skipping through Belarus at full speed, it’s good if with one overnight stay!
Today everything has changed. And tours introducing Russians to Minsk and castles nearby, as well as Grodno and Vitebsk, Polotsk and Brest – in honor again.
However, like independent car trips around Belarus: as interesting as they are easy to implement. Especially in the middle of spring!
Weather in Minsk in April
At first it doesn’t promise much – you shouldn’t expect that you will immediately plunge into spring when you get off the Moscow-Minsk train. Reality from year to year is much more mundane and definitely requires don’t immediately fall into euphoria.

In particular, at the very beginning of April in Minsk, the air temperature even during the day can tend to 0 degrees Celsius. And only towards the end of the first ten days of the month the city begins to thaw, as if realizing that it is time.
Then the readings of street thermometers, as if on command, move to the range of +7-12 °C. Sometimes they can even reach +17-18 degrees Celsius.
However, much more often throughout April temperatures in the region of +10-15 °C are recorded in Minsk. Which, as is easy to guess, not bad either.
And it should suit the tourist who has set a global goal: close get to know the capital of Belarus and its surroundings.
The nights are much colder. And even at the end of April, negative temperatures are sometimes recorded in Minsk.
At the beginning of the month, there is almost no doubt that it will freeze after sunset!
Rains
At the same time, they don’t get on your nerves too much. April in Belarus generally belongs to the driest months of the year.
But cloudy days happen regularly. Although not as often as in winter or, say, March.
There are very good chances that your entire trip to Minsk in mid-spring will take place in mostly clear weather
The length of the day reaches a little over 13 hours at the beginning of April and increases to more than 15 hours on the threshold of May.
Do you agree that this is simply wonderful if you plan to visit castles near Minsk in 1 day? Or, for example, are you going to visit Grodno?!

What to take with you
If, after reading the previous paragraphs, you have not yet guessed what people wear in Minsk in April, then we will inform you – mainly in demi-season clothes. After winter, people naturally gravitate toward warmth, and subconsciously believe that the lighter you dress, the faster it will come.
Purely winter things at this time are already put away in the far corner of the wardrobe. Or, at a minimum, hanging unclaimed on a hanger in the hallway.
Should you do the same? We would not recommend it – after all, a tourist has his own “tasks”. One of which is don’t freeze during a long walk!
In general, you should warm yourself moderately and not make too sudden movements. Until about noon, until the sun warms the asphalt and air to above-zero temperatures. And after 19-20 pm, when it gets rapidly cold outside.
Remember that at least until mid-spring in Minsk the streets may be covered at night crust of invisible ice. And be careful when walking in the early morning, for example, along the central Independence Avenue.
We also recommend that those who are planning to travel to Belarus by car in April not be particularly deceived. Since clean roads and good quality asphalt are by no means does not guarantee excellent grip quality with the surface.
In general, don’t hesitate to listen to tips from weather forecasters and automotive brains
Broadcasting about low temperatures or in general high probability of formation “black ice”
As for documents, an internal passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation will be enough for the trip. You can easily use the MIR card as a means of payment.
Someone might want to apply for Belarusian “plastic” of international payment systems. In those banks, of course, that are not under Western sanctions.
But this is optional. Yes, and you get this card you’re unlikely to have timeif you go to visit Minsk for a couple of weekends…

In terms of financial costs, a car trip along the Moscow-Minsk route and back looks most economical. Since you will only have to pay for fuel (the distance is approximately 1,500 km in both directions) and issue a Belarusian MTPL, the cost of which is slightly more than 1,000 rubles.
Hotels and tours
When choosing an option for accommodation, we recommend don’t waste a lot of time to search. Because, despite the visual diversity, there are few good and inexpensive hotels and guest houses in Minsk. Although, of course, they exist – you just need to spend some time searching.
Since up to 5-6 people can stay in a 1-2-room apartment.
Rent an apartment in the center of Minsk, not far from Independence Avenue or Victory Square, for 5-8 thousand rubles per day. Well, or a little more – it all depends on the footage, the condition of the apartment and its location…
But excursions around Minsk are still not too expensive. So for 1,500 – 1,800 rubles you will get a complete picture of the city’s attractions, as well as its history.

Equally, they don’t ask for much for out-of-town trips with a guide. For example, you can visit Grodno and return back on the same day for a fee of 4,500 – 5,000 rubles.
Again, there is an opportunity to travel from Russia to Belarus as part of an organized excursion. For example, a bus trip from St. Petersburg to Minsk, Mir and Nesvizh castles, with excursion support and an overnight stay in a good hotel costs from 12-15 thousand rubles!
