Georgia is known for its traditions of winemaking: here you can try wine from grapes of various varieties, while it cost, by Russian standards, it will be inexpensive. Wines are made by small winery located in ordinary village houses and large factories that use advanced technologies in production. Most of them can be visited to taste drinks and get acquainted with the process of their manufacture. We have chosen several places for wine tourism in different places of the country.

Winery “Fazan Tears”, Signach

Known for the manufacture of natural wine from ancient Georgian technologies, the Winery “Fazan’s Tears” is located in the city of Signachs in the region of Kakheti. It produces wine from nine grape varieties, and preservatives are not used in its manufacture. The drink is not maintained in oak barrels, believing that they hide the true taste of wine, but in Kvevri jugs dug in the soil, to minimize the loss of the taste of grapes. Visiting a wine cellar and a tasting will cost 20 Lari per person, but a minimum of at least four people is possible. There is also a restaurant with traditional Georgian cuisine on the territory of the winery.

The cellar of Yago Bitarashvili is a private grave of the Chardahi village in the vicinity of the city of Mtskhta. It is an ordinary village house with vineyards in the distance. There are two types of wine here: the red dry “Saperavi” and the white dry “bureaucrats”. He, like in the “Fazan Tears”, is produced in Quevri, trying to practically not use modern technologies and without adding preservatives. You can get to the village of Chardakhi from Tbilisi on a minibus from the Diduba bus station, and any local resident will tell the road to the cellar.

The winery “Chateau-Muchanes”, Mtskheta

You can get to it on any minibus coming from the Didbe bus station towards Gori – however, you will have to walk through the village of Mukhani. The Hareba winery company belongs to two plants, but it is most known to be cut down in the rock with a seven-kilometer tunnel-scaland, where about 25 thousand bottles of wine are stored-however, only the first 300 meters of the tunnel are available to tourists. During the inspection, you can taste the drinks that the company produces, and listen to stories about the traditions of winemaking. The tasting of the two wines produced using European technology will cost 12 Lari (290 rubles) per person, and the wines from Kvevri jugs – at 15 (370 rubles). There is a tunnel in Kvarteli – a small city in Kakheti.
