Alushta, a fairly large resort town on the southern coast of Crimea, can hardly be considered one of the main beach destinations in Europe. Mainly due to his lack of fame, but also due to his controversial reputation.
The fact is that the city, distinguished by its excellent location and remarkably healthy climate, is still cannot boast of being well-groomed.
Tourists today do not want (even at their own expense) to put up with the view of masses of poorly constructed buildings that often resemble barracks. And also with concrete fences painted with hieroglyphs, enclosing who knows what.
For some reason, vacationers don’t like potholes on the roads, which can easily send a carefree car enthusiast to a tire repair shop. Or even straight to the store for a new tire – and in Crimea it’s not easy to buy a new one and the right type – depending on your luck.
The majority of citizens who get to Alushta, however, manage not to notice the above-described shortcomings. And then they get what they were looking for… a great vacation.
Moreover, it is absolutely not necessary to go for it at the peak of summer – and in September it is warm and sunny in Alushta, you can swim in the sea. It gets a little chilly at night – that’s true. But in general the weather is simply gorgeous!
So we are ready to say, not unfoundedly, but quite confidently, that in September Alushta is one of the most interesting places on the Black Sea coast. In a sense, it is ahead of even the vaunted Yalta!

Of course, it doesn’t happen year after year. And therefore you should be prepared for slightly lower air temperatures: around +22-26 °C during the day and up to +18 °C at night. In this case, put some (slightly) insulating clothing in your vacation suitcase.
Towards the end of September, Alushta cools down a bit. But he does this in a manner that is completely gentle to the feelings of vacationers. That is, no failures – a planned decrease to +20-24 °C.
The real “velvet season” – go for a walk – I don’t want to. At the same time, without thinking about autumn equipment – a light windbreaker or sweatshirt is enough for the eyes in the evenings.
Of course, if you are planning to climb the Ai-Petri plateau, you can wear something more substantial. After all, at the top much colderthan on the coast.
A lined jacket will also come in handy for underground walks. For the temperature in the Crimean caves, including Mramornaya, does not exceed +10-11 °C even on a summer afternoon.
Also put a pair of comfortable shoes that fit your feet in your luggage – in case of mountain-steppe walks in areas remote from civilization.
Because those who vacation in Alushta during the not-so-hot time of the year definitely want to get to the “Valley of Ghosts.” Or even take a hike to Northern Demerdzhi.
At the same time, of course, do not forget to take other things necessary for a beach holiday!
The total volume of precipitation falling in Alushta during the first month of autumn almost never exceeds 40 mm. The number of rainy days is no more than 2-3; showers during this period are outright nonsense.
Water temperature
Of course, you are interested in: is it possible to swim in Alushta in early September? And we will answer – not only is it possible, but also necessary!
Since usually, at least until the middle of the month, the Black Sea near the Crimean coast stores the heat accumulated over the summer. And the water is heated to +22-24 degrees Celsius.
In the mornings, the water area is, of course, much cooler (than you would like), but by the middle of the day it is guaranteed to warm up to the above values. And it doesn’t get particularly cold even at sunset.
Towards the end of the month, the idea of swimming becomes not so clear attractive, because the temperature of the Black Sea near the coast drops into the range of +20-22 °C. But most visitors – Crimeans themselves rarely swim in such water – this does not stop them.
Which is understandable! Indeed, in the middle zone of the country, not to mention the north, such conditions are considered excellent for swimming.
Prices 2026
We will modestly keep silent about air tickets – passenger planes have not flown to Crimea for several years now. And getting to the peninsula from Adler airport is even more fun.
But you can get to Crimea by car without any problems, which is what most people use. Although, due to much more thorough checks of the contents of luggage compartments, entry to the Crimean Bridge may take several hours.
Prices for accommodation in Crimea are attractive. And in general, they literally provoke you to rest if you are able to forget about the current situation.
So you can expect to rent a room in a guest house in Alushta at a moderate distance from the sea for 3.5-4 thousand rubles per day (for 2-4 people). And this is in the first half of the month – in the second half the prices will even fall a little.
Daily rent of one- or even two-room apartments will cost 3-6 thousand rubles per night. Depending on their proximity to the coast and the ambitions of the owner. In any case, a whole family or a group of 3-6 people can stay in a separate apartment.
Prices for excursions… it’s good that they haven’t risen too much compared to pre-Covid seasons.
For example, a trip from Alushta by jeep to the “Valley of Ghosts” will cost 5-6 thousand rubles (for all participants). And a horse ride in the surrounding area costs only ~2.5 – 3,000 rubles… But – for 1 person!

And tourists who go hiking along one of the many mountain trails are not far behind them. It will be on the coast or, for example, near Bakhchisarai!
Things to do
In Alushta itself there is nothing special to see. A colonnade on the shore, an aquarium and a dolphinarium, the “Crimea in Miniature” park – by and large, that’s all. Because the local water park at the Almond Grove hotel will delight only the youngest vacationers!
For adults, it is better to go to the resort capital of the peninsula for water activities. Moreover, there are plenty of other attractions in Yalta.
Yes, you understood everything correctly – water parks in Crimea are still open in September. The first week or two – as usual, but then only on weekends!
Excursions led by local residents will introduce holidaymakers to interesting places in Alushta that have little chance of coming to the attention of a visitor. But the main attention should still be paid to the picturesque surroundings of the resort city.
The same Mount Demerdzhi, along which walking and horseback groups enjoy walking. Of course, how can you not personally visit the legendary “Valley of Ghosts”?
We also advise you to pay attention or at least consider the possibility of traveling to Chatyrdag plateau with its caves. To Balaklava, to Cape Fiolent, to Sevastopol itself, which is difficult, but possible to see in a day.
It is quite possible to get to Bakhchisarai. Where you will visit the beautifully preserved Khan’s Palace, and cave cities (Chufut-Kale, at least)!
Enthusiasts of traveling by car will add to the list such attractions and interesting places in Crimea as:
