Bali in August 2026 – is it worth going on vacation? Weather in Nusa Dua and Kuta, Legian and Sanur, reviews, sea and air temperatures, prices in hotels and excursions. What to do and what to see in Bali at the beginning of August and at the end of summer, where to go with children – in the (almost) Eurotraveler report.
The tropics are a good place: always warm and therefore seemingly carefree. In a word, ideal for relaxation and rest – yes, exactly that, with a capital R.
There is, however, one catch – in the summer, going to tropical countries seems to be out of the question and even completely pointless. Too hot, too humid – too much of everything, even tourists.
However, every rule has exceptions – Indonesian Bali in August is one of them. In other summer months it is also very different from the “usual” tropical beach destinations, but today is not about them.
Surprisingly, lying at 8 degrees south latitude, that is, very close to the equator, the Indonesian island enjoys hot temperatures all summer, but not suffocating weather. He sees quite a bit of rain, but clearly prefers clear days to them.
In a word, it contrasts sharply both in comparison with Phuket in August and, for example, Dubai. At which resorts at the end of summer you have to adapt – to put it mildly – to some climatic features of an unpleasant nature.
On the most resort and tourist island of the Indonesian islands, everything is different. And now we will tell you exactly how!
Weather in Bali in August
It is actually an ideal option for a vacation. Suitable for a romantic getaway for two or a trip to the sea for the whole family, including small children.
The air temperature in Bali during August fluctuates within a narrow range: it can be up to +28-30 °C during the daytime and not lower than +24-26 °C at night. Which, obviously, will allow you not to melt in the sun and implement a wide range of entertainment activities without regard to weather forecasters.
So, right after your morning swim, you can easily head out to admire the impressive panoramas or explore the main attractions of Bali.
And in the evening – enjoy the spectacle of your peaceful eyes divine sunset. Accompanied by some delicious fish dish and… chilled sparkling wine – why not?!
Yes, we know that you need to admire the sunsets on the west coast of Bali, and it’s better to settle (especially with children) on the east. But this is hardly a problem. If you have a valid driver’s license and are not afraid to rent a bike or car on an Indonesian island.
The sun rises over Bali at the beginning of August at 6.30, and a month later it does so 20 minutes earlier. But it goes to “sleep” at the same time – around 18.20.
There is no reason to be afraid of rains on a tropical island at the end of summer – they do not have any impressive power or pressure. Average monthly volume – about 50 mmevery second review reports thunderstorms, but very short-lived showers.
By the way, you should take into account an interesting circumstance: despite not too many rainy days, the sun in the sky is often obscured by clouds. Don’t be fooled – at this latitude, a cloudy sky will do nothing to protect you from sunburn.
So be sure to take sunscreen and other cosmetics with you on your holiday in Bali. And don’t forget about the simplest medicines: both for headaches and for poisoning.
Although you should also arm yourself with medical travel insurance, who knows…
Winds
in Bali at the end of summer they intensify slightly. But for those staying near Sanur or on Nusa Dua, this is unlikely to cause problems when swimming.
Well, in Kuta, Legian and similar places, you are unlikely to be able to swim normally in other, less windy months of the year. However, as (everyone?) knows, those who expect to ride the waves on the surf.

Water temperature
In theory, it will allow you to swim on any single day of the last summer month. Because even in early August the sea off the coast of Bali is warmed up to an acceptable +25-26 °C. And it doesn’t cool down below +24 °C in the worst years.
However, you should always remember ebb and flowwhich are distinguished here by some incredible power. And also do not forget that Bali is actually washed by the Indian Ocean (from the west for sure).
Which sometimes drives powerful waves to the shore. It also readily forms rip currents that can, without any effort, drag even an Olympic swimming champion with it.
Prices 2026
We will deliberately not write about the cost of flights – this is too upsetting a matter, whether you plan to travel from Moscow or London. Remark – but citizens (permanently?) living in Thailand and Malaysia, India or Vietnam, Australia or New Zealand will like the prices on air tickets!
As for hotels, you can stay near Sanur beach for 350+ € per week for two. The hotel will not be first-line and not very fashionable, but still very good – Arena Living.
Accommodation in Nusa Dua is noticeably more expensive. There, for accommodation in something obviously “decent” like separate bungalows in Kubu Dimel Suites, you will have to pay from 600 € per week (the excellent Geger beach is nearby).
There are, however, exceptions – Allia Residence. Once you agree that the low price and the presence of a small pool helps you come to terms with the 2-kilometer distance from the coast (it’s a 5-7 minute ride to the beach by bike).
Excursions, various climbs and hikes in the jungle, cruises cost from 25-30 € per person. In this case, however, you will have to agree to the services of an English-speaking guide – Russian-speaking ones, for some reason unknown to us, charge much more.
For about 35-40 € you can take a one-day tour to Nusa Penida. And you will pay approximately the same amount for transport and escort if you plan to admire the giant stingrays at Manta Point. Individual offers (trip on a private boat) will cost 90-100 € per person.
Things to do
Now – about pleasant things, about what, in fact, they go to Bali for. After all, there are more than enough attractions and simply beautiful places on the island. And if you don’t have enough impressions, you can always go not only to Nusa Penida or the Gili Archipelago, but much further.
For example, get to the island of Lombok and there, along a little-trodden path, climb the Rinjani volcano, from the top of which fantastic views open up.
Active tourists do not see anything difficult in getting to Mount Bromo in Java. Well, or even go to Komodo – it’s interesting to see fossil lizards in person?!
However, in Bali itself you will find something to diversify your hotel and beach leisure time. Kids will definitely love the slides at Waterbom Bali Indonesia, which is located in Kuta and is considered the best island water park. Well, adults should definitely take trips to the main attractions in such a rainy month as August.
The city of Ubud and the “Monkey Forest” next to it are on the list of “must-see” places. As well as the terraced rice plantations of Tegallalang, waterfalls in the jungle. Plus a number of island Buddhist temples.
Moreover, “number 1”, Pura Besakih, today sometimes already gives the palm to the picturesque Tanah Loch on the ocean shore. Where you can watch an authentic local Kecak dance, and then enjoy the view of an absolutely divine sunset.
Almost always – and especially in the summer – the tourist line snakes around Lempuyangu, whose “Broken Gate” with a view of Agung is too photogenic. And the queue is quite large – you can easily spend a couple of hours of (valuable) time waiting for your couple of minutes of “fame”.
