Alanya in December 2025 – Is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, air and water temperature, is it possible to swim and how to dress, prices for air tickets, hotels, excursions. What to do and what to see in Alanya in early December and later, on Catholic Christmas and New Year’s Eve, where to go in Turkey – says Eurotraveler.
Alanya, as many probably know, is the warmest from the seaside resorts of Turkey. And these are not just words – at almost any time of the year, and in winter especially, it is 1-2 degrees warmer here than in Antalya.
If we compare it with Kemer, which in the fall somehow too quickly finds itself in the shade due to the sun hiding behind the mountains early, then the temperature difference on some days can reach a gigantic 2-5 degrees Celsius.
In the summer, this circumstance probably does not play into Alanya’s hands – the high temperatures already melt the mind. But once winter comes, such a feature alone can become a determining factor in solving the dilemma – where exactly to go on holiday in Turkey?
At the same time, you should not rely on the popular belief that December in Alanya is not too hot, and the town is small and therefore absolutely boring. Because if the first in fact can still be recognized as true, but the second is definitely a real lie.
However, everything, of course, depends on the point of view
For what
Perhaps you are not particularly drawn to walking along ancient streets, going to the suburbs to look at wildly beautiful canyons and thousand-year-old ruins? Walking along the inaudibly whispering surf and, like a child, rejoicing in the warming sun – this is at the beginning of winter?
Again, you don’t really go shopping in Alanya. After all, what kind of shops are there: just Waikiki and grocery supermarkets with markets?!
And, nevertheless, even at the beginning of December the possibility of traveling to Alanya (not to mention the pre-New Year dates) should not be discounted. If only because for the money it costs, you are unlikely to be able to find a more worthy offer.
Yes and you will miss definitely won’t have to. Most likely, you will not have time to do everything that would be worth it – the attractions in Alanya and not far from it number more than a dozen places.

And
Weather in Alanya in December
will frankly please the tourist who rarely visits tropical seas in winter. In any case, even despite sometimes rainy natureit “allows” a lot of activities. And, including: excursions and trips to the mountains, as well as rafting.
Although most guidebooks, for some unknown reason, paint an unsightly picture. It’s as if they have a vested interest in the fact that vacationers don’t even dare to think about coming to Alanya in early December or even right in time for Western Christmas.
It is reported that the average air temperature during this period only +12-15 °C degreesrains are frequent, and the sun seems to shine timidly. As for the sea, it drives strong waves and is certainly not at all suitable for swimming.
In fact everything is not so gray and dull.
After all, the concept of average temperatures does not at all reveal the fact that by noon in December Alanya the air temperature almost always reaches +18-21 degrees Celsius. And the high probability of precipitation does not negate the abundance of clear days.
As for swimming, it is also possible. Some reviews directly indicate that “the sea is the warmest”!
Of course, not every first tourist will go swimming in the absence of not only lifeguards, but also other vacationers on the beach. But wandering along the edge of the surf with bare feet and greedily inhale iodine-filled air – no one forbids? At the same time, eating some fruit, which often costs mere pennies in Turkey…
Nights are usually cooler (this is where the “legs” of average temperatures come from). But not so much that you regret the trip.
So, after rummaging around and finding a couple of old reviews, you will find only satisfaction!

Because
even at the end of December in Alanya after sunset something is recorded from the range +11-15 °C. As, indeed, throughout the month.
Frost? They haven’t been heard of here in recent years. Whether global warming or something else is to blame is unknown.
Either way, you’ll want to pack a substantial jacket for those seaside promenades in the evenings. And a pullover, or better yet a hoodie. However, what are we talking about – at least, you will board the plane in such clothes!
Water temperature
It is not subject to strong fluctuations like the atmosphere – everything is much more predictable and smooth. At the beginning of December the sea in Alanya may be warm up to +21-22 °C. And at the end it gradually cools down to +17-18 °C.
Swimming at the same time you almost never see. Perhaps because there are very few tourists at this time. But the locals, not excluding expats, will not climb into such an “ice hole” – are they fools or what?
Because the most you will observe is children playing at the edge of the surf. Sincerely not understanding how you can ignore so warm water. Next to them, of course, there will be exceptionally brave-looking fathers.
Climbing into the dangerous and cold, knee-deep elements actively hitting the sandy beach of Cleopatra with waves. But in most cases there is no risk of cutting it with a fast crawl.

Prices 2025
An independent trip to Alanya in December this year will consist of the following amounts:
- direct flights with a budget low-cost airline from Moscow to Gazipasa airport and back will cost 500-600 € for two (without luggage you can fly for 400 €)
- a week’s stay in excellent apartments Alanya Damlataş Apart costs about 200 €. Moreover, for this money they are ready to accommodate three people here (the total area of the apartment is 50 m2)
- If you choose an almost VIP option represented by Art City Luxury Residence in the Center of Alanya, the cost of accommodation per week will increase to 600-700 €. The owner, however, for this money will allow a whole company of 4 vacationers to live in an apartment with an area of 90 square meters. It’s not bad if you go with your family or friends?!
The current cost of tours is simple persuades you to take an adventure. How else can you perceive a price tag of around 80 thousand rubles for two people for 6 nights in a 3-4 star hotel? This, by the way, is all inclusive!
Note that trying to go somewhere in Russia in December for a week or so will cost a comparable or directly similar amount. But there won’t be a warm sea there…
Things to do
If healthy sleep, tasty food are not enough for you (not all restaurants in Alanya close with the arrival of winter) and relaxation in Zen style on almost deserted beaches, you can organize a very rich cultural program.
Not necessarily including a lengthy tour of the old town – although that would be nice – but definitely including a climb to the top of the Alanya fortress. And also a selfie against the backdrop of the famous Red Tower and neighboring Tersane, inhaling beneficial fumes in the Damlatas cave.
Today it has become a must-see attraction cable car Alanya Teleferikcirculating between the beach and the upper tier of the fortress. Every second vacationer has heard about the (free) house-museum of Kemal Ataturk, which is interesting primarily for its well-preserved interiors of the late 19th century.
Where to go
There are plenty of interesting places in the surrounding area. Cave Dim in the Taurus Mountains and Sapadera Canyon shown to lovers of beautiful natural attractions. And citizens interested in ancient history should definitely plan a trip to the ancient Syedra policy.
Someone will take the time to see the giant amphitheater in Aspendos in person. And others will be content with the ancient ruins preserved in Side
Ideas regarding travel from Alanya to Istanbul are limitedly popular, but they have the right to life. Why not, after all, this is a classic “two in one”? For very reasonable money, that is, affordable for literally everyone (bus, car)?!
Very few vacationers will decide diversify your winter holiday in Turkey, having decided to travel independently from Alanya to Cappadocia. Although the latter, even in January, is not as cold and unapproachable as is commonly thought. Incredibly beautiful under a thin snow cape and still the same sees colorful balloons above him!
