Bodrum in September 2026: weather and reviews, air and water temperatures, is it possible to swim and how to dress. Is it worth going on vacation at all, prices in hotels, excursions and cruises along the coast. What to do and see in Bodrum at the beginning of autumn, where to go at the resort, travel in the surrounding area and beyond – says Eurotraveler.

Bodrum is very rarely included in the vacation plans of Russian travelers. Even in the summer, orderly rows of people land on the Turkish Riviera and sincerely do not understand why they should change their ingrained habits that do not promise any worries.

After all, there are more than enough “all inclusive” hotels there, there is always a place on the beaches and even a sun lounger, and leisure time is in complete order. And as for the weather, it is generally agreed that the climate in Antalya and its surroundings is the best in Turkey.

The majority’s point of view, however, is not shared by everyone. For it is well known that in Kemer and Side, partly Alanya, it can sometimes be very stuffy.

And the humidity seems to completely ignore the lack of rain. Know yourself rushing to the area of 80 and 90%, rewarding tourists with exhausted faces and T-shirts sticking to their backs.

All this “charm”, if not completely, then to a large extent Turkish resorts on the Aegean Sea are deprived. Even in summer!

And in the fall, people with delicate health generally relax here, especially susceptible to excess heat and high humidity

That is why in September Bodrum sees a decent influx of local, Turkish, and rich holidaymakers. Tourists from the UK and Germany eagerly come to the city, which is visually so similar to Greek.

Russians? In the future, perhaps there will be many of them too!

Weather in Bodrum in September

A little similar to its August version, but overall softer. That is, the air temperature also tends to +28-30 °C, but in the evenings it tends to retreat. Giving holidaymakers the long-awaited coolness and awakening the desire to walk a lot and sit on the shore for hours.

At the beginning of September in Bodrum, the air temperature does not drop below +23-25 °C even at night. But closer to the end of the month, the weather may – no, not deteriorate – remind you of what is in the yard it’s autumn after all.

So in the last ten days of September, air temperatures during the day are still rising, just barely gripping the level of +25 degrees Celsius. But after sunset, thermometers outside the window usually show no more than +20-21 °C.

At the same time, it must be admitted that it is rarely less. And therefore, putting a blouse or jacket in luggage is only necessary for those who are prone to freezing even at such temperatures.

Or just wants to play it safe. One way or another, in the fall, minimally warm clothing on vacation in Turkey is unlikely to hurt.

Stocking up on outfits that are a little more substantial than T-shirts and tank tops, shorts and skirts is also worthwhile for those who are not going to spend all their time on the beaches and in the resort town itself. But he is also considering the possibility of visiting somewhere in the central regions of Turkey.

After all, September is one of the best months of the year to travel to Cappadocia. Where at this time it is light and almost windless!

It’s even warm during the day. But in the mornings (and who wouldn’t want to rise to the transparent Cappadocian heights in a hot air balloon?) it’s still chilly!

Rains

As for precipitation, it usually behaves unnoticed at the beginning of autumn on the Aegean coast of Turkey. Either they are really trying not to harm the holidaymakers, or they are busy with important work somewhere else. Perhaps in Sochi or Blackpool?

The average monthly rainfall is thus does not exceed 15-20 mm. In normal human language this means 1 day of heavy rain. Or several rather cloudy ones – with occasional rain dripping from the sky.

In some years, the end of September in Bodrum gives holidaymakers a surprise. In the form of persistent rains lasting a day or two and fairly cool weather. But the statistics stubbornly convince us that such excesses in this part of the planet are rare.

Solid people who do not like weather surprises do it simply – they vacation in Bodrum in the first half of September. Lulled by statistics or simply unable to snag a vacation early, they agree to come to a Turkish resort at the end of the month.

Let us emphasize once again – in the overwhelming majority of cases they don’t regret it!

Water temperature

In early September it usually lives in the range of +25-27 °C. Which, as anyone who has vacationed on the Black Sea, let alone the Baltic or North, knows, provides excellent conditions for swimming of all ages.

Regardless of the time of day. You went out in the morning to watch the sunrise, plunged into the slightly fresh water, swam – you experienced natural delight!

By mid-September, the sea near Bodrum sometimes tends to cool down to a not so clear +22-23 °C. Not always, however, – in other years the temperature of the water area remains good until the last moment. It’s like I signed a contract for +25 °C, period.

But towards the end of September, you still have to admit that autumn has reached this location. Because the water warms up above +21-22 °C only in the afternoon. And the next day – if there is no sun – it will not reach this mark at all.

  • What to choose for your holiday: Bodrum or Marmaris

The weather on the Aegean coast of Turkey in early autumn is perfect for a seaside holiday

Prices 2026

Is it possible to save money if you organize a trip on your own? Deliberately forgetting about existence package tours and travel agencies? Definitely!

Again, with some planning on your own, your autumn adventure has a good chance of not being limited to just a beach holiday in Bodrum. For example, you can include a visit to Istanbul in your travel itinerary. And then relax on the Aegean coast.

Getting to it from the shores of the Bosphorus is not so difficult, even by land. Here is how to get to Bodrum from Istanbul by car.

Hotels

Finding a good hotel for 70-80 € per night in Bodrum today will be possible without much stress! Even on the edges of the high beach season.

The only thing is that you will have to start searching about 2-3 months before the travel date

And to begin with, we advise you to pay attention to the Ilya Apart 2 apartments, which are well equipped with everything you need (there is even a dishwasher).

There is a terrace with excellent views – the apartments are located on a hill. In another hotel of the same chain, Ilya Apart 1, you can go (free) and swim in the pool.

For similar money (breakfast included), if you wish, you can stay at Bodrum Sade Pension. A guest house located in the very center of the resort town.

The only drawback of budget rooms in it can only be recognized as their modest size.

In both the first and second cases, however, you will have to invent ways (dolmus or car) to get to good beaches. Because in Bodrum itself the conditions for swimming leave much to be desired.

Therefore, pay attention to the beaches of Bitez and Yakhshi (west of the resort) or Torba

Flights

Transfer (Havas) from Milas airport to Bodrum proper is also inexpensive – milas-bodrumairport.com/to-from-the-airport/havas-shuttle.

In autumn, prices for holidays in Bodrum are reduced

Things to do

It is well known that there are no special attractions in Bodrum. The famous miracle of the ancient world, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, was destroyed in ancient times – and not without the help of earthquakes.

It will be useful for people with imagination climb the ruins. For perhaps they will be able to imagine what splendor it once was.

But for everyone else, it’s better to go to the relatively well-preserved ancient Greek amphitheater, considering its age. Or straight to the squat fortress of St. Peter protecting the harbor.

Evil tongues say that this is more a remake than an old one. But visually, the fortification, in the design and construction of which the Rhodes knights (that is, the heirs of the crusaders) had a hand in, is impressive.

Yes, and tourists can easily visit the museums inside the Bodrum Fortress. Along the way, we admired the monuments to Herodotus and Dionysius, the most famous townspeople.

The emblem of Bodrum is considered windmill cylinders, rising on the hill separating the ancient part from the Gumbet district. Most of these structures, however, are in poor condition.

That doesn’t stop them from decorating the lion’s share of magnets and plates, which are briskly sold in local shops. And we assure you that you will definitely want to bring such a souvenir to Turkey as a souvenir.

At least in gratitude for the impressive views of the sunset that open from the “mill” hill. And you will definitely be convinced that they are incredibly romantic!

The resort also has its own water park – small, and, judging by reviews, a few years ago it required major renovation. And of course there are discos here – apparently the best on the Aegean coast.

Vacationers who happen to settle next to a nightclub are not happy. But active young people enjoy relaxing after a long – even in September – and tiring beach day.

Speaking of duration. The sun rises here around 7 am in the first month of autumn. And he comes in at 19.40-18.57

Where to go

The travertine pools of Pamukkale are worth a visit in Turkey in September.

Bored, comrades? Then plan to visit some attraction outside of Bodrum. After all, September in these parts, as we just found out, has truly ideal conditions for long excursion trips!

Since the weather will be warm or hot almost all the time, but not exhausting

Try to relieve your beach boredom with a visit to the Greek island of Kos. Unless, of course, you know how to get a Schengen visa for your international passport or don’t need it at all.

It’s remarkable that few people go specifically to the Greek island. Although in reviews hundreds of people confess their sincere love for the old houses of Kos and its rural landscapes. And, of course, an incredibly relaxing, truly vacation atmosphere.

But okay, a Greek island – at least its silhouette is visible from the port! But it takes longer to get to the ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus – about 170 km.

However, by the standards of an experienced traveler, this is also not a distance. In any case, not one that can turn you away from visiting one of the main attractions of Turkey.

It’s quite possible to go and see the travertine Pamukkale swimming pools — they are about 270 km from Bodrum. The easiest way, of course, is to do this along with a tour.

We advise you to take this opportunity and get to Dalyan, another extremely interesting seaside city – it’s just under 200 km away by highway.

The local thermal hydrogen sulfide baths and mud are popular. Ancient Lycian tombs carved into the rocks are also considered an amazing attraction of the place.

And the symbol of Dalyan, Turtle Beach or Iztuzu, is one of the most beautiful in the country! And someone visits it in Turkey purposefully, and not just “on occasion”, while relaxing nearby.
