Cyprus in April 2026 – Is it worth going on vacation? Weather in Larnaca and Ayia Napa, Limassol and Paphos, air and water temperature, reviews, how to dress, is it possible to swim? Prices in hotels, on excursions, how much does it cost to rent a car? What to see in Cyprus at the beginning of April and on the threshold of May, where to go and go with children – says Eurotraveler.

Cyprus is one of the favorite beach destinations on the Mediterranean Sea for European tourists (especially British tourists). Literally the quintessence of this type of holiday: maximum number of clear dayshot weather and warm sea – isn’t this what the vast majority of potential holidaymakers dream of?

However, all this splendor is available exclusively during the high season. Which, although it lasts 5-6 months—as marketers say—but usually starts no earlier than mid-May.

What is April like in Cyprus? Also happy and carefree like his “big brothers”: May, for example, and June. Is it just a little cooler?

Or, on the contrary, in the middle of spring the island still hasn’t forgotten about winter? And is inclined to cool the hot heads of tourists with the help of cutting gusts of wind, far from summer temperatures, rain and unexpected cold snaps?

We have studied the issue in detail and are ready to encourage you!

Weather in Cyprus in April

Not stable. That does not prevent those who visited the island at this (blessed!) time from leaving entirely enthusiastic or restrainedly joyful reviews on the Internet.

Informing that it was possible to do literally everything planned!

Enjoy the view of blossoming nature, sunbathe and even swimtake part in excursions. Rent a car for a few days and use it to independently visit most of the interesting places in Cyprus.

Go fishing on the open sea or just take a yacht cruise on the turquoise sea near the green shores.

And after all, everything, or at least much of what is described, can really be done! Since the well-known instability of the weather in Cyprus, even in early April, has little in common with the same somewhere in London.

So, in any case, you can count on air temperatures in the range of +15-20 °C and not the greatest chance of rain.

Drops in air temperatures to levels of +12-14 degrees Celsius, although infrequent, do occur.

But, firstly, in the middle of spring such weather disasters last no more than 2-3 days. And secondly, they are necessarily followed by significant warming.

And reaching new heights – by the end of April, Cyprus is getting warmer up to +22-24 °C.

The nights are colder – no higher than +12-16 °C. Which should encourage lovers of evening promenades and long feasts in restaurants to dress warmly.

We also advise participants of excursions in mountainous Cyprus not to forget about insulated jackets and windbreakers. Because it’s always at the top colder than on the coast!

Rains are theoretically rare – 1-2 days with an average precipitation of no more than 25-30 mm. But in practice, literally anyone who vacationed in Cyprus at the end of April encountered them.

And, it’s true, he was immensely surprised – after all, forecasts usually promise 80% chance of a clear day.

Therefore, in any case, you should prepare an alternative plan of action. So, for example, as did the prudent author of an informative review, Muscovite Elena – rutraveller.ru/note/4228.

Water temperature

Unable to keep some of the vacationers from taking sea baths and even long swims. Although from the point of view of the Cypriots, the water area with a temperature of +17-19 °C is only suitable for cooling beer…

In general, you can swim in Cyprus in April. And in other years it’s even necessary – the water near the coast warms up so much that it makes you remember summer days.

You just have to remember that things can change very quickly. And the bay, dormant in almost absolute calm, suddenly seems to harden.

And then the sea is covered with unkind waves, furiously attacking such a hospitable shore yesterday. And the wind begins to blow as if he saw thatched houses somewhere…

The strength of the wind and its direction in mid-spring are the determining climatic factors in Cyprus. So study of short-term weather forecast should become a completely ordinary thing for tourists.

Where is the best place to go?

Many holidaymakers, especially those who have previously been to Cyprus, out of habit choose the eastern coast for their holidays in April. Protaras and Ayia Napa. After all, the designated resorts are famous for their amazing sandy beaches and excellent swimming conditions for literally all ages.

However, such a choice in mid-spring can hardly be considered optimal. After all, among the attractions nearby, there is only the Greco National Park – you will have to get to everything else for several hours.

In addition, you are unlikely to have a wide choice of restaurants and cafes – many establishments are still closed at this time. And evening exercise here will not give you any special impressions.

In Larnaca, Cyprus, few people want to swim in April

It’s a completely different matter to stay in Larnaca or Limassol, Paphos. Because in this case, much more opportunities open up in terms of off-beach leisure.

From exploring authentic places that abound in the Troodos mountain range, to evening gatherings in seaside restaurants serving traditional local dishes.

How to dress

Also a very important point. Because if you allow yourself to be lulled by sweet tales of Cyprus blooming in April and therefore incredibly warm, you may greatly regret it.

So it’s really worth taking on a trip warm items of clothing. Not just lace blouses, but woolen sweaters and pullovers.

And full-length trousers plus shoes that are not derived from open sandals have a considerable chance of coming in handy.

At the same time, of course, your vacation wardrobe should contain all the things necessary for the South Sea. Like beach towels, sunscreen, swimsuits/swimming trunks and bucket hats.

After all, the sun in Cyprus, even in the middle of spring, is hot as if it does not even suspect the existence of an off-season. Easily painting the skin of northerners who are not ready for this in burgundy tones.

Prices 2026

It will be possible to stay in an excellent quality apartment in April, for example, in Ayia Napa, if you have an amount of about 60-70 € per day.

Out of habit and out of gratitude, we recommend Millie’s Apartments, which are exceptionally clean and equipped with all necessary appliances. Which belong to an unusually hospitable and friendly lady.

Which is located, although well located (0.5 kilometers to the beach), but still not near the Archaeological Park. Which will probably cease to be a problem if you dare to rent a car in Cyprus.

Fortunately, the document requirements for renting a car in Cyprus are moderate. And prices – especially in spring – are low.

As for driving on the left (as they drive in the UK or, for example, in Thailand), this, as it turns out, small problem. Because with very sparse island traffic, you’ll adapt quickly!

Tours around the island, both in spring and summer, not particularly expensive. For example, to take part in a one-day excursion to the monasteries and villages of Troodos you need to pay less than 50 €.

Half the price, about 25-30 € costs a boat trip from Paphos to the Blue Lagoon. Or an excursion to Cape Greco from Larnaca.

Things to do

We recommend planning and implementing a rich program of trips around the island. Even if you stay at a large resort like Limassol, Larnaca or Paphos, there is no reason to stay put.

After all, Cyprus in the middle of spring – blooms naturally! And you simply won’t forgive yourself if you don’t see it with your own eyes.

At no other time on the island will you see such an abundance of colors and simply lush greenery! That is why trips to spectacular places, as well as villages in the central part of the island, should be given special attention.

You can study the full list of attractions in Cyprus (worthy of attention) in our separate article. Within the framework of this material, we will tell you in which direction better watch when planning trips.

From our point of view, it is absolutely necessary in April to visit such places in Cyprus as: Coral Bay and Lara beaches, Avakas Gorge and Akamas National Park with the Blue Lagoon near Paphos.

An indispensable point in the program of a traveler who finds himself in Cyprus for the first time will be the Kykkos Monastery. And equally – if possible, of course – the villages located nearby Pedoulas and Mutulas, Kakopetria.

A visit to the ancient ruins of Kourion near Limassol looks completely natural. Not even so much for the sake of it thousand-year-old ruinshow much for the sake of the views that open around.

In Larnaca you need to take a walk along Phinikoudes Boulevard. Divers may also want to dive to the ferry “Zenobia”lying near the shore at a depth of 40 meters.

You will almost certainly spend time on a trip to Cape Greco near Ayia Napa. A place that is especially beautiful in the spring.

Active travelers may also go abroad – to the Turkish part of Cyprus.

There, first of all, you need to visit the virgin beauty of the Carpathian peninsula, the archaeological park of Salamis and the city of Famagusta. And also in the pretty port of Girne – ancient Kyrenia.
