Kazan in April 2026 – is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, air temperature, how to dress, prices for air tickets and hotels, excursions and tours. What to do and what to see in Kazan in April, where to go in Tatarstan – says Eurotraveler.
Without claiming to be prophets, we will say that Kazan may be one of the most tourist-attractive cities in Russia, but it clearly does not enjoy overwhelming popularity outside the high season. Which in Tatarstan is very short: you just have to end September and that’s it – welcome winter!
Usually very snowy and even bright. But, alas, it is cold – with frosts of -30 degrees, leaving visitors with little chance to get to know the region and its capital closely.
March is also very cool, dank and sunless in Kazan. From year to year he does not give even a hint that he is – in fact – first month of spring.
What is Kazan like in mature spring – in April? How optimistic does she look at a time when nature is vigorously awakening, as if it is splashing energy around?
What will a tourist encounter if he goes to the banks of the Volga again? before the May holidays? How much does a weekend excursion to the capital of Tatarstan cost? And isn’t it better to plan everything yourself, without resorting to the help of agencies?
Again, is it possible to go to Kazan by car (the distance from Moscow is 800 km along a toll and therefore high-speed road) or is it better to choose a train (plane)?
Looking ahead
We dare to say that the first option is preferable!
Firstly, you will save… if you won’t go alone. And secondly, you will see more.

Because you can get to virtually any place in the city and its surroundings independently and quickly!
Weather in Kazan in April
In other years, I’m not too eager to see crowds of visiting tourists on the city streets. On the contrary, to begin with he offers them experience all the delights spring climate of the Volga region.
So you should be prepared for natural cold weather. In particular, to the fact that the air temperature in Kazan both in early April and later is until the third ten days of the month – even during the day it is reluctant and rarely reaches the level of +12-14 degrees Celsius. At night, it timidly evacuates to zero.
But apparently he doesn’t feel safe there either. Just in case, regularly descending into the “underground”, into the territory negative values.
Yes, this behavior of the weather is discouraging – yet in Kazan in April, in the very center of Russia in the middle of spring, subconsciously waiting for real warmth. And it doesn’t fit into the mind that when you go out to the promenade on the banks of the Volga in the morning, you can find frozen asphalt.
In general, of course, this is the weather on a non-rainy day suitable for walking around the city and even out-of-town trips! Especially if you are prepared and have sufficiently warm clothes.
Starting from the middle of the month, or the third ten days of April in Kazan (guaranteed?) warming is coming.
It happens that it is timid – around +14-18 °C until the May holidays. But it can also be more noticeable – with peaks in the range of +23-25 degrees Celsius.

Precipitation
It usually rains in Kazan in April not too much or readily. Which, as you probably already realized, goes well with the general lethargy and apparent lack of purpose in the weather.
Cloudy days predominate; the sun rarely shows its unclouded “face”.
Is the picture painted bleak? Perhaps… But not for an active tourist!
Because he still has no opportunities for interesting pastime there will be plenty. After all, dry and cool weather is exactly what is required for sightseeing and walking promenades?!
And there will be few competitors – as mentioned above, most travelers prefer to come to Kazan in June and other summer months. Not at all embarrassed by the fact that walking along stone city “corridors” or long country trips in hot weather pretty tiring.
What to take with you
Obviously, in Kazan and in April, it is best to dress in… winter clothes. Unless, of course, it is designed for Central European, that is slightly frosty option.
Thick down jackets and sheepskin coats, of course, should already be peacefully dozing in the wardrobe at this time.
A not too thick quilted jacket, pullover or sweater, boots with thick soles are definitely what you need for walking around Kazan in early April. And, quite likely, these same items of clothing will be in demand until the last week of the month.
As well as gloves with scarves and hats – in the morning and evening hours.
Children’s hats definitely a must take! Because the wind from the Volga in the middle of spring sometimes just pierces.
If you are traveling to Tatarstan at the end of April, it is still better to dress multi-layered. So that in case of a significant rise in air temperatures, you can simply remove the extra layer of clothing.

Prices 2026
Once upon a time it was possible to take a trip to spring Kazan for very little money. Today, alas, you shouldn’t even count on this – you can save money only if you stay in a private apartment in the city.
Which, fortunately, are inexpensive (a studio in the center or not far from it can be rented for 3-4 thousand rubles per day), large in number, and – in most cases – fully equipped all necessary equipment.
As for Kazan hotels, their pricing is clearly influenced by the recently increased popularity of the city among tourists. Presses so hard that it fits be amazed at the amountswhich one or another “hospitality facility” charges for accommodation.
For example, a night spent in the fashionable Ramada by Wyndham Kazan City Center, which is not so far from the local Kremlin, will take 14 thousand rubles out of the wallet of a couple of travelers.
The Apart-hotel on Pushkina Street 26, which is also very advantageously located, will provide a room for “only” 9 thousand rubles per day. Yes, it’s less than a 5-minute walk from here to the Bauman pedestrian street, but what’s the price tag?!
Prices for air tickets to Kazan (for example, in mid-April) are also impressive. If you fly from Moscow and return there, you will have to pay for travel from 24 thousand (baggage-free option) to 30 thousand or more rubles.
But excursions around the capital of Tatarstan are still relatively inexpensive. Participation in a group tour in a bus-pedestrian format will cost 1,000 – 1,500 rubles per person. A walk with a guide “only for your company” will cost 4-6 thousand or more.
Things to do
A fairly detailed list of places that you can visit in Kazan and nearby is presented in our material. If you don’t have time to “follow” the link, we will briefly list it here noteworthy attractions.

The Kazan Hermitage Center is also worth a visit. If only because masterpieces loaned by the main museum of St. Petersburg and Russia are regularly exhibited there.
Then you should definitely take a walk along the Kazan pedestrian highway – Bauman street. Perhaps accompanied by a qualified guide.
And take a photo with the bronze monument to the Cat of Kazan. Whose ancestors, during the reign of Catherine II, allegedly courageously cleared the basements and even the halls of the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg of mice.
A tourist’s mandatory program usually includes a fashion show along the embankment of the Kazanka River. And also a visit Staro-Tatarskaya Slobodawhere nice houses from a bygone era have been preserved.
Moreover, there was a settlement on the shore of a lake with an interesting name Boar. For the 2018 FIFA World Cup, it received a beautiful embankment – it’s pleasant to walk along it on fresh spring evenings.
Naturally, rarely a trip to the Tatarstan capital in the period from spring to autumn is complete without a short trip on a motor ship or boat along the Volga.
Outside the city, guidebooks – and so do we! – they loudly advise honoring with a visit Temple of all religions in the village of Staroye Arakchino. And then get to the much more ancient Raifa Bogoroditsky Monastery.
A longer trip to Sviyazhsk, a city on an islande in the widening of the Volga. Or south of Kazan, in Bolgar.
Standing on the site where the capital of a powerful state was once located, Volga Bulgaria. The main one even before the arrival of the Mongol hordes and for a long time competing for influence in the region with the Vladimir princes.
Few people know that from the capital of Tatarstan you can easily get to the Mari-El Republic. In particular, on your own or with a tour go to Yoshkar-Ola.
A city that has not only improved considerably over the past decade, but is also capable of surprising. Anyone who does not expect to meet a real fragment of Western Europe in the Volga region…
