Paris in April 2026 – is it worth going? Weather and reviews, air temperature, how to dress, prices in hotels and excursions. What to do and see in Paris in April, where to go in France – says Eurotraveler.

You can hardly argue with the statement that Paris makes a lasting impression on people. As a positive thing, this happens to the majority. So is the negative – which at first glance is simply surprising!

In the latter case, however, the reason is an incorrect calculation or overly high expectations with a very limited budget (the capital of France is not a city for the budget-conscious). Well, or the wrong travel time!

To be sure not to make a mistake, we recommend going on a trip to the “right” place – April in Paris, in our humble opinion, is optimal time.

Not only because it is the year when Easter is celebrated (April 5-12 in 2026, respectively, for Catholics and Protestants or Orthodox). But also because nature begins its rapid flowering in the capital of France no earlier than the designated time.

Immersed in a cloud of blooming sakura and plum trees, apple trees and chestnuts, Paris in April is a charming sight. Making you completely forget about all his shortcomings and experience an everlasting feeling of joy.

However, let’s look at the facts…

Weather in Paris in April

Of course, you shouldn’t expect something equal to what’s happening in mid-spring in Barcelona. Still, it is located 800 km to the south, and even on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, which moderates the climate.

But you won’t have to dress for winter in Paris in April, even in the evenings. Maximum warmWhat you will have to wear is a spring coat.

And you will only be happy about it! After all, where else to walk around in fashionable clothes, if not in the French capital blooming like a flower?

In the wake of joyful anticipation of the trip, you will probably not be forced to doubt the fact that the average air temperature in Paris in early April does not exceed +12-15 degrees Celsius. And it’s also true that walking at night throughout the month can cause you to freeze.

Especially if you decide to do it on the banks of the Seine!

Let’s agree, you won’t scare an experienced traveler with something like this. Moreover, there are good museums in Paris. And not just good – excellent (by the way, you can warm up there)!

And cafes and restaurants in the “capital of the world” are just not available at every step.

Note that in other years Paris in the first half of April may make a slightly less favorable impression. Mainly because they are very modest air temperatures about +5-8 °C.

But – and this is almost certain – already in the second ten days of the month there will be a significant improvement in the weather. And the sun during the day will warm the atmosphere to +18-20 degrees Celsius.

Similar weather can last a long time. That’s why at the beginning of May it is so warm in Paris that you simply don’t want to leave the street during the day (the air warms up to +17-21 °C during the day).

At night, however, it gets cold – up to only +10-13 degrees Celsius. But it is obvious that even in such “cold weather” tourists will enthusiastically walk around the capital of France.

Precipitation

A pleasant feature of the April weather in the French capital is the small amount rains and they are clearly not torrential in nature. So you shouldn’t expect any inconvenience from this side either.

Sunny days, however, still do not come in an orderly sequence, regularly interspersed with cloudy ones. But this does not affect your good mood at all – you will still feel a surge of energy and simply forget about the recently ended winter!

After all, as already emphasized above, Paris blooms and smells throughout April. He is looking forward to summer and a new busy tourist season!

How to dress

We already mentioned the coat above. And not by chance!

Because these are exactly the clothes that will warm you on a cool evening or invigorating morning. And at the same time, it won’t let you sweat as soon as you think about unbuttoning the buttons.

Just in case, take it with you sweater or pulloverthey may well come in handy. If not on the street, then in a poorly heated hotel room (you will be surprised, but this is quite possible – read the reviews).

It’s probably wiser to leave your raincoats and rubber boots at home. But light windbreakerworn over a sweater, will be the right choice on some days. Especially if you are initially inclined to take long walks around Paris…

Be sure to also bring boots or high-soled sneakers. These shoes will allow you not to pay attention to any vagaries of the April weather.

And greatly diversify your diet. For example, it will allow you to travel from Paris in April to see the famous French chateaus.

Why is this worth doing? Yes, everything is simple – most of the castles are located in very green, but at the same time almost rural, completely unpaved areas…

Prices 2026

If you want to stay in a good place, preferably not on the very outskirts, you need to start searching at the beginning of winter. Because otherwise, all options for inexpensive hotels in Paris at the beginning of April (and at the end of the month too) will be sorted out.

You will have to spend from 130-150 € per day on accommodation. If you have less money, then you will have to stop on the very outskirts of Paris. Or compromise and book a hotel that will inevitably cause criticism.

We traditionally recommend knocking (the sooner the better, this accommodation gets booked quickly) at the small but cozy We Loft apartments on passage Saint Ambroise. The location has excellent transport accessibility (there is a metro station nearby), it’s quiet and clean inside, breakfast is included in the price!

Much more spacious, but cost about the same Appartement Gérard in the 13th arrondissement. Judging by the reviews, there seem to be no dissatisfied people living there – they praise both the functionality and the good location.

Of course, this apartment is located at 46 Rue Gérard, very close to Place d’Italie!

Further from the center, that is, in fact, no longer in Paris, but in Le Kremlin-Bicêtre, is located greet Hotel Paris 13 Porte d’Italie. By staying there, you will save significantly on accommodation – at least ~30 € per day.

Excursions

The best time to go to Paris in spring is on excursions.

After which you will probably have fewer questions like “who lived here” or “what kind of house is this”?

There are more budget-friendly entertainment options in the French capital. In particular, for only 16-18 € you can take an hour-long cruise along the Seine. A walk and acquaintance with Montmartre in the company of a knowledgeable local guide will cost only 35-40 €.

Much more expensive, from 100-120 € per person, is a one-day walk from Paris to Mont Saint-Michel. However, you should take a trip to this place at least once in your life.

And in general, it’s good in Normandy! Especially at a time when this region is filled with the foam of blooming apple and pear orchards (excellent cider and Calvados are produced here). And it looks truly amazing!

Here is what you can see in Normandy in 1 day… or a week.

Things to do

It is very doubtful that you will not find entertainment for any of those 4-5 or even more days that you will allocate to come and see Paris in spring. Most likely, on the contrary, you will have to constantly be tormented by doubts: should you choose this or that?

Even if you have been to the French capital before, you will almost certainly not deny yourself the pleasure go to the Louvre. Or, in a dense crowd of equally inspired tourists, climb 250 meters up.

There will probably also be walks along the Ile de la Cité, where Notre-Dame de Paris, restored after the fire, still stands. And also exploring the Latin Quarter, long walks through such an exquisitely ancient Marais quarter.

As mentioned above, it is worth setting aside at least a day for a country trip. And if most tourists limit themselves to visiting the Palace of Versailles or Disneyland, then you take the chance and broaden your horizons.

Visit, for example, Fontainebleau Park, which blooms in April near Paris. Or go a little further – for example, to the Chantilly Palace.

We recommend that art lovers definitely visit Claude Monet’s estate in Giverny in Normandy in the spring (here he is again!). An incredibly colorful and not yet crowded place!
