Cyprus in March 2026 – Is it worth going on vacation? Weather in Larnaca and Paphos, Ayia Napa and Limassol, reviews, air and water temperature, is it possible to swim, prices for tours, air tickets and hotels? What to do and what to see in Cyprus at the beginning of March and closer to April, whether you need to rent a car – in a lengthy review by Eurotraveler.

Sea! The opportunity to be near it, to hear the rustle of the waves, to inhale the fresh salty aroma commands the consciousness of, if not every first traveler, then certainly the second.

And when it comes to such a body of water as the Mediterranean Sea, and such an island as Cyprus, rational thinking is often completely cut off – reflexes come into play. Like: “buy tickets”, “book”, “get ready”, “don’t forget anything”.

Fussing around when getting ready is obviously not the right thing to do. But to avoid rushing at the end of a dark and gloomy winter, when the prospect of being not just abroad, but also there, opens before you, where is it warmwell, very difficult.

Because yes – in March Cyprus is very optimistic. Not hot yet, but sunny and bright. It blooms and lives entirely in the spring and with the anticipation of the very soon arrival of summer.

Together with him, everyone who sees such an obvious smile of nature begins to bloom. And if some Cypriot can still put on a gloomy or imperturbable appearance, then tourists who find themselves in the atmosphere of March Cyprus themselves bloom like flowers.

Immediately at the airport, they enthusiastically climb into the rental car. And they start driving around the island as if driving on the left in Cyprus (aka Great Britain or Japan) doesn’t bother them at all!

However

If in the short term there are several days of completely serene existence, this is understandable – right?!

When the magnificent mosaics await you in Paphos, the freshly painted, as if just renovated mountain monastery of Kykkos, deserted beaches in Ayia Napa and the bizarre arches of Cape Greco? So bright, as if they were illuminated by the turquoise of the sea beginning to wake up after winter?

Church of St. Lazarus - the air temperature in Cyprus in March reaches +20-22 °C

But enough color – let’s turn to the facts. And we will begin our story anyway with documentary ones, and continue with climatic nuances. Because in 50 percent of cases they are the determining factor when making a decision.

Important!

Today we can forget about the electronic pro-visa, which gave Russians the right to enter Cyprus – it is not issued yet. But it is relatively easy to obtain a national visa. The cost of which (90 €), however, cannot be considered cheap.

You can also visit the island with a valid Schengen multiple entry visa. Moreover, it has not even been opened yet in the country that issued it.

But obtaining such a visa may take much longer than the actual visa to Cyprus, which is still very loyal to Russian tourists.

You should also take into account the complete absence of direct flights from Russia. And prepare for an 8-12-hour journey in transit through the airports of Yerevan or Belgrade (here is the schedule and prices for Moscow-Larnaca flights).

If this doesn’t scare you, read on!

Weather in Cyprus in March

In recent years, it has earned a lot of praise. As for the negative ones, we somehow didn’t come across them – those who travel to a Mediterranean island in early spring know what to expect.

Because such an “early” tourist primarily targets excursions around the island. And naturally there is no reason to be angry and write negative reviews on the Internet about how “swimming in the sea didn’t work out.”

In general, it’s like this: from the very beginning of March in Cyprus you can enjoy +17-19 degrees of heat that is modest by local standards, but chic according to foreign tourists. Almost everywhere!

Whichever seaside resort you go to relax in March: Larnaca or Ayia Napa, Limassol or Paphos, warm weather will persistently provoke you to strip down to your T-shirts.

Spring landscape in Cyprus

The south and east coasts are usually warmest; the west can be a degree colder

In Nicosia, located at a decent distance from the sea, it is usually no more than +14-16 °C. But in the mountain villages and monasteries of Troodos at the start of spring, it is better not to appear without a jacket.

Moreover, its non-summer version may be useful – there may still be snow high in the island mountains in March. And if you stop by somewhere in the vicinity of the local Olympus, you will regret that you did not bring winter boots. Maybe that’s why tourists are not particularly keen to visit there in winter?

At night until the middle of the month, even on the coast, it is not higher than +13-15 °C. Therefore, dress accordingly in the evenings.

In the third ten days of March, the air temperature in Cyprus during the day at times successfully exceeds +20 degrees Celsius. But they are in no hurry to gain a foothold there and continue the offensive!

In other years, for example, in early March in Larnaca, temperatures up to +22-24 °C were recorded. And then throughout the rest of the month the temperatures were in the range of +17-21 °C.

On average

If we count over the past few years, the average air temperature in Cyprus in the middle and end of March is encouraging – +20-22 °C. And if you rummage through earlier reviews, then on the threshold of April it sometimes feels like summer is coming – +25 degrees and above.

Rain and sun

At the same time, it rarely rains – it can (lightly) fall from the sky for 2-3 days throughout the month. And the long-term average statistical norm – about 30-40 mm – makes one doubt that anyone will be scared by the “inclement” forecast of meteorologists.

The sun rises from 6.15 am and earlier. And it sets – before the clock changes to daylight saving time on the night of March 30 – around 18.

The duration of the light period is therefore about 12 hours

The clear majority of days are up to 18-20 per month. But cloudy weather is unlikely to greatly affect excursion activity…

Petra tou Romeu - in Cyprus in March it is still too early to swim in the sea

Sea temperature

Bathing is not encouraged throughout the entire month. Indeed, in March the sea off the coast of Cyprus is almost never does not warm up above +18-19 °C.

And then – you can count on this degree exclusively in shallow water in Protaras or Ayia Napa.

In most places, sea water at the start of spring remains icy inaccessible at +16-17 °C. And then, by April, as if by great favor, it warms up to +18 °C.

No, someone happily swims in such waters. But the bulk of holidaymakers in Cyprus at the beginning of spring are not so athletic.

And he prefers to swim—if at all—in heated hotel pools.

Prices 2026

In this case, you can subscribe to good Myriama Apartments for only 40 € per day. And this is a completely ridiculous price when compared with local May realities (from 70 € – minimum)…

In the case of Larnaca, you will have to overpay for accommodation (the average price of good options is about 60 € per night) – for example, Kitieos Central Apts. But still the price seems reasonable.

Especially considering that as a reward you will get the opportunity to organize more eventful leisure time!

Limassol, especially popular with (experienced) tourists in March, also seems to be quite an expensive destination. Because for a night’s stay in a decent place – Pier Beach Hotel Apartments – you will pay from 70-75 € for two.

Pathos? In full accordance with the name, I am not inclined to waste time on trifles

This is also why you will pay from 70 € per night for a room or apartment in good condition – Crystallo Apartments.

And then… you will enjoy being. Since he (she) will be located within a 10-15 minute walk from both the sea and, in general, all the most interesting things (sights and shops) in the city!

The archaeological park in Paphos in Cyprus should be seen first in March

An air flight from Moscow to Larnaca and back in March 2026 will cost 300-400 € per person – via Yerevan. However, it is impossible to say that it will be too long – from 8-9 hours one way.

Excursions in Cyprus are generally inexpensive. You can get to know the monasteries and villages of Troodos for 45-50 €; take a cruise along the coast to some picturesque Blue Lagoon for 30 €.

What to see

Since it is still too early for a beach holiday, in March it is worth paying attention to the main natural attractions of Cyprus. To visit them, it is useful to make a rational travel plan in advance.

Along the way, agree on who exactly from your family (company) will drive the car.

Yes, you absolutely need to rent a car in Cyprus – otherwise you simply won’t understand why you came to this island. And the easiest way is to do this immediately upon arrival – you often have to pay extra to deliver the car to the desired address.

There is nothing particularly dangerous about driving in Cyprus – although the traffic is on the left, like in Great Britain (colonial heritage), the roads are excellent.

And traffic during non-tourist times is weak to the point of disappearing completely

Distances on the island are small – from Larnaca to Paphos, for example, only 130 km along the highway. But you should still understand that you won’t be able to see all the interesting places in Cyprus during a 5-7-day vacation.

In Cyprus in early spring it is not yet hot, but very beautiful

If only because some of the days will have to be set aside for rest from travel. Winter vitamin deficiency, that’s how it is, at times there is complete devastation…

Pathos

One way or another, but on the list of “needs” a must visit» Paphos Archaeological Park must be present. Primarily due to the surviving magnificent mosaics from the ancient Roman period.

The same route can include a visit to the excellent beach in Coral Bay, the rocky Avakas gorge, Laru and the Akamas Peninsula with the Blue Lagoon there.

You probably won’t be able to swim in it even at the end of March.

But you are almost guaranteed to enjoy your visit.

The one-way distance is about 65 km, it’s quite possible to do it in a day. Although the Akamas National Park is worthy of not being combined with anything else…

The richest monastery in Cyprus, Kykkos, is best left for another day. For if from Paphos to it it is 75 kilometers, then from Larnaca it is already 125.

The final stretch of the road to Kykkos will tire even an experienced driver – a continuous mountain serpentine, which is clearly not overcome at maximum speed.

The mountain villages of Pedoulas, Moutullas and Kakopetria easily fit into the same route for company. And we assure you that visiting just this trio will be enough for you to be overwhelmed with impressions.

Kykkos Monastery - the largest in Cyprus

“Aphrodite’s Stone” or Petrou tou Romiu on the southern coast stands see at least on the way from Larnaca to Paphos or back. Equal attention should be paid to the ruins of Kourion and – if it seems not enough – Amathus.

The remains of ancient Greek city-states, nestled on the coastal hills with marvelous views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Next

In Limassol you can (should) visit the museum in the local castle. Let us still remember the times of Richard the Lionheart!

And, by the way, he witnessed his wedding with Princess Berengaria. The only queen of England in history who never set foot on her soil…

The main attraction of Larnaca is the Church of St. Lazarus. And also the beautiful seaside Funikoudes Boulevard.

Whether to go to Nicosia is up to everyone to decide for themselves. In any case, it is better to walk around the capital’s ancient quarter of Laiki Githonia in the freshness of March, and not in the summer.

When temperatures not only reach, but also exceed the +40-degree mark!

Cape Greco near Ayia Napa and the local Blue Lagoon should be visited without fail. For this place is beautiful and even, one might say, charismatic and recognizable.

And your photos against the backdrop of local quaint arches, or – even better – on the Lovers’ Bridge – will certainly become a decoration of the family archive.
