Ancient Yerevan is visited annually by thousands of tourists who are attracted by a cascade, an old city, millennium churches and numerous bars. Despite the increased popularity of the Armenian capital, in the city you can still find atmospheric places for walking and sincere gatherings with coffee or a glass of something stronger. We share a pyustustic selection of unusual museums, restaurants, coffee houses and other little -known points on the map of the hospitable Yerevan.
Museum of the artist Lucyk Aguletsi
The artist, a clothing designer, a collector and keeper of the Armenian traditions Lucyk Aguletsi turned her home into a museum during her lifetime. By crossing the threshold, you seem to be in the past, into the atmosphere of creativity and harmony. Agulytsi was interested in ethnography and art: her paintings with large free strokes resemble the painting of Van Gogh. Although the artists are no longer alive, the spirit of the tireless researcher is in the walls of an amazing mansion, inviting to consider every detail.
The white stone of the facade, black carved sideboards with slender rows of oil lamps, thousands of old things, among which, it seems, you can find real treasures, fabrics and jewelry, a collection of national costumes – cockroaches, dozens of paintings and spreading wood, growing right inside the building. Together, this creates a lamp and cozy museum, from which I do not want to leave, not without reason Aguletsi loved to gather guests. In a small art coffee in the courtyard, fragrant tea is served according to the artist’s recipe, dolm in grape leaves from home garden and other local dishes. A photo shoot in national costumes will be arranged for an additional fee.

Traveling into the past
Soviet Club – The island of Soviet times, lovingly collected in the smallest details, from the legendary game “Well, wait” to the Lada and the Ural motorcycle. Part of the museum is stylized for a typical apartment of the 60-80s: a tile familiar to each citizen of the USSR, a “dream” plate and a lamp with a green lampshade in the living room. For the completeness of immersion, they treated to “pins” and ice cream in balls according to the original recipe, it is served in high cremas.

Fiery feed and duduk

The uneven walls of the cave, the languages of fire and lavash are not the beginning of the Armenian folk epic, but a brief description of lunch or dinner in the small hall of the taverns “Gata”. It is stylized under the grotto in the cave city, which in the mountain Armenia are a great many – only Lavash under the ceiling will not be found everywhere. The large hall is decorated in the national style: decorative stone, ethnic drawings and ancient objects on the shelves. If you’re lucky, instead of jazz, hear a duduk – a local analogue of a flute.
Meat dishes are surprised by a truly fiery presentation: pork or lamb barren-birus will be brought on charcoal, and Adan from veal and peppers will pour cognac and set fire to. Homemade wine from grenade, quince, blackberries or kizil is poured to the meat. The dish from the restaurant’s sign – Gatu (sweet cake with filling) – is prepared with pistachios, dried fruits, persimmon, classic or chocolate paste. She is one of the best in the city.

Bar in the basement of the library

It seems that everything has already heard about the Mirzoyan library: a photo store, a cafe, coworking and an exhibition space in one bottle under a spreading crown of a tree in the yard. Let’s go further and go down to the basement of an old house – it hides there Vermoutheriaa bar in which they are served mainly vermouth. It is worth coming here to penetrate the atmosphere and try unusual views of the wine incurred on herbs: balsamic vermouth, a drink with pickles with the taste of citrus and coriander or on rose petals. Archimal basement ceilings, twilight, accelerated by a trembling flame of candles, antique furniture, jazz and guitar add a charm to the place, and the bartender can mix blacks to your taste. Manage to visit, while it is not good here and the past is reflected in ancient mirrors – or the future who knows.

Beach atmosphere
It is strange to meet the pointer to the beach in the Vaagni quarter, given that there is no sea in Yerevan. It is even more surprising to climb the roof of the fifth floor and find sand underfoot, a relaxed atmosphere of the resort and excellent cocktails with a panoramic view of the city. Bar ceiling The Beach Yerevan They are tightened with white canvases, low wooden tables, textiles in traditional white and blue stripes and drawings on the walls-the whole situation is designed in the theme of the institution. Burgers, fries, pizza and tuna dishes are served to drinks.

Sushi on the conveyor
A few years ago, the Vhange Restaurant was popular in Prague, in which the guests delivered a steam locomotive on a miniature railway on the table. There is something similar in Yerevan, but in an authentic Japanese style. The feature of the restaurant Tokyooo – A conveyor tape with sushi plates, which the chef immediately cooks and puts on a tape under transparent caps. The portion price of two rolls depends on the color of the dishes, only four options from 500 to 2000 drams. To taste, these are classic rolls from simple ingredients – and no cream cheese. Ramen and Samy are also served by Rolles with their own hand -cooked sakes – they are already ordered from the waiter. The atmosphere really resembles the country of the rising sun: paper lanterns, hieroglyphs, engravings, cute bowls and even Japanese speech, because the founder of the project and the boss come from Japan.
