Departure abroad is always exciting, whether it is wintering in a warm country, a long business trip or moving to permanent residence. Preparation of documents, collecting things and planning a new life for months, and even years to come, can be a real test.
We talked with several Russians who settled in other countries. They talked about the process of finding housing, domestic difficulties and bureaucratic nuances.
From Moscow to Istanbul

Daria Levashova: She moved to Turkey with her husband, daughter and dog
I had only about a week to prepare for the departure. In turbo generation, I collected things, a child and sorted out documents for a dog. It was a separate quest, because it was necessary to take tests, conduct chipping and get vaccinated. According to the rules, the minimum time period between them should be a month. We had only a week, so I agreed with the clinic, where the process was accelerated without harm to the pet.
About housing
There are a lot of nuances. Often in Turkey, housing is handed over without furniture, but in Istanbul this is not such a problem. Firstly, there is a familiar to all IKEA, and secondly-shops with used furniture of good quality. We rented housing in the Fenerbahce quarter, which is located in a classy district by the sea. Everything was available in the apartment. However, there is one unexpected point that you must keep in mind. When concluding the contract, you need to immediately give a rather large amount: the commission to the realtor plus a double, or even triple pledge to the owner. We rented an apartment for 14,000 lire per month (about 46,000 rubles), but we had to pay much more for the first time.
About documents
In a country without a visa, you can be 60 days plus another month, if you cross the border and enter back. We did not have time to do the aposthetic in Russia, so we did it on the spot, but getting to the consulate in Istanbul turned out to be a problem. All the slots on the recording were busy online, so I had to get up at about three in the morning and stand in a huge queue.
Therefore, we decided to go to Trabzon and at the same time cross the border between Turkey and Georgia in a car, so that there is an opportunity to stay in the country for another month. Apostali, we made a certificate of marriage and a birth certificate of the child. To apply for a residence permit in Turkey, you need a lease for a period of a year and a filled profile. You will also need a translator and a notary public who should put his signature on each document.
All legal services cost us 120,000 rubles. To save, we decided to draw up documents on our own. There is nothing complicated in this – you need to fill out the questionnaire and wait for the result. Few people know, but there is a hot line with Russian -speaking operators, where you can clarify all issues of filling out – 157 weeks later we were invited to meetings for the transfer of documents. We needed to provide an agreement for housing rental, insurance, tax number (is done in five minutes) and a transferred passport with seals about the entrance.
Arrangement in a new place
We were lucky with the district, and how everything turned out. But there was a difficult period: for several months I was in a terrible state, missed in everyday life, in our previous life in Russia. Such horror surged that I even turned to a psychologist for migrants. It helped.
In general, we have no time to get bored. Istanbul is a hub city through which someone is constantly flying somewhere. Our friends and acquaintances so often stop with us that we already jokingly call our apartment “the house of fugitives and tramps”. Of course, there is a special atmosphere, people know how to live relaxed. The locals have folding chairs, and every evening and morning they go to the sea and have breakfast (dinner) for three or four hours. They also love children very much here. For our daughter, we found a private garden for 4,000 lires (about 14,000 rubles), they are engaged in it according to a special Finnish program. The neighbors always show attention to us: they greet us, ask how my business is like a daughter. This helps to feel in a new place calmer and more comfortable.
To Georgia from the Krasnodar Territory

Irina Sulima: She moved to Tbilisi with her daughter in early October
I always really liked Georgia, so the question “where?” I didn’t even stand. As soon as the land boundaries opened, we got into the car with my daughter and drove off. Everything was very fast on the border itself, the passage took about 20 minutes. If a woman rides with a child, you don’t even have to go out for search. The main thing is to open the trunk and turn on the emergency gun, so you show that the car is a child. Next, you give the documents for verification and pass.
About housing
It was not very difficult to find it. Of course, now there are really many visitors, which is why some lessons are very much raised by prices. However, there are still enough options, and there is a chance to find quite acceptable in cost. Plus, you can always find help in support chats. If you need an inexpensive option to look around and decide what to do next, it is better to rent a house in Batumi: now there is a non -season, apartments are cheaper. In terms of real estate prices and living standards, Kutaisi will be a good option. In Tbilisi, now it will be possible to look only through friends or again catching opportunities in chats.
About documents
In principle, with the receipt of a residence permit, you can not rush, since without a visa in Georgia it is allowed to be a whole year. However, those who plan to fully settle in the country, find work and use public services, is necessary.
To submit documents, you need to officially find a job in the country, enter a local university, make a marriage with a local resident or prove the presence of Georgian roots. There is also an option with buying real estate, but it is more difficult. I have not submitted documents yet and are not sure if I will. Maybe we will go somewhere else. But the immediate plans – to stay here for the long time. I have remote work, so the main condition is the presence of the Internet and our condition with my daughter.
About life in Georgia
The prices are moderate. Vegetables and fruits, for example, are cheaper than in Russia, and dairy products and sweets are slightly more expensive. There are people of special mention – they are very responsive. Often they help, suggest, they can drop the price or even treat. Especially if you are with the child. The children are generally very warm, but the schools are crowded. Many classes were given to refugees. Even in private institutions there are no places, so my daughter is engaged online.
There is a junost of money for the transfer of money, the commission is very small. The Russians are issued a Georgian card in local banks, with it you can go abroad and pay everywhere.
From Moscow to Bali

Pavel Uryadov: He switched to remote and moved to the resort town of Changu
The choice fell on Bali not by chance. They attracted the climate and Europeanization of this place relative to the rest of Southeast Asia, primarily in terms of food. At the time of my departure, it was impossible to buy currency in Moscow, so I went to Istanbul, withdrew money there at Turkish lira at an ATM, exchanged it for dollars and went to Bali.
About housing
For the first time, I took off the hotel on OneTwotrip and began to look for permanent housing from there. There are many chats in Telegram with tens of thousands of participants, where Russian -speakers help and receive help in various issues related to life here. You can look for housing in such chats, you can watch ads on social networks and on Airbnb, you can simply google or walk around the island, knock on the door and promote whether anyone will give up housing. Most placement objects presented on popular resources practice monthly tariffing, which is lower than the daily rent. At the same time, there is no way to rent at the stated tariffs on these platforms themselves. Therefore, you can check the accessibility of the number, indicating a long time, make sure that the number is available, book it for the first few days, come and agree on the place of monthly tariffing.
I removed my apartments with the help of a regular Internet search engine. The announcement was completely arranged, but no one answered me, so I found this place on the map, came there, met the gardener, took the hostess’s number from him, contacted her and agreed on payment and arrival. I still live here, and everything suits me.
The place is called Changa. It is rather a village or village type village. That is, the development of a village, but there are supermarkets, fashionable bars, palm cafes, tennis, skatepark and even a riding school. The most comfortable balance between the city and the village, even roosters scream in the morning!
About life in the country
In Indonesia there is only one bank that opens cards to foreigners without a residence permit (it is called Kitas). To receive a card, it is necessary that an Indonesia citizen is entrusted for you, who already has an account in this bank. For a small fee, the guarantor is easily through the same chats.
In Indonesia, it is impossible to move on foot, so I had to learn how to drive a scooter. Local are beautiful: for the most part, friendly and cheerful people, but poor. One of them pulled out a trunk backpack in my parking lot, in which there was a passport. I had to fly back to Russia and restore.
The biggest fear here is health problems. Cases of Denge fever are frequent (transmitted through mosquito bites), and every day after sunset you need to process yourself with a spray from mosquitoes. So far, there are so many plans to stay here as possible. If tax problems arise, you have to look for other options.
From Moscow to Nice

Gulnara Galeeva: moved to the south of France with two children
It was very difficult. The most difficult task was to search for an adequate airline ticket. On average, about 2,000 euros per person came out, so I tracked various sites in search of the cheapest options. As a result, I found for 80,000 rubles for three with luggage. We flew by Iranian airlines through Tehran to Istanbul, and already from there to Nice.
They took baggage to the maximum (30 kg), sent the rest of the things through Kazakhstan, believing that it would turn out cheaper. But it was a big mistake, as it turned out much more. For example, an additional suitcase would have left for about 200 euros, and the transport company transports the same suitcase for the amount of about 500 euros.
About housing
We settled in Antiba. Finding housing for a short time is not a problem, the city is full of hotels of a very different level. But for a long time, renting an apartment is much more difficult, because it is necessary to provide salary certificates. The fact is that if people here stop paying for an apartment, they are very difficult to evict, especially with children. According to local laws, no one will drive tenants to the street, so the landlords act very carefully.
About difficulties
Russians, due to sanctions, may have difficulties with the opening of an account with a bank. However, France has a very flexible bureaucracy, and you can always find the opportunity to circumvent it without violating the law. For example, in the summer, when I lived here without children, I had a tourist visa, and it was possible to withdraw small amounts with restrictions. But when you live constantly, you need to open an account. One legal scheme will come to the rescue: first you need to visit two banks and ask for a written refusal to open an account. With these documents, it is necessary to go to the Bank of France, provide a lease agreement and birth certificates of children who need to pay me for meals and other expenses. In this case, you will not be able to refuse and open an account.
Over the months of life in France, I realized that there are no unsolvable issues: I must be able to seek, talk and make friends.
Children have the right to free circles and, of course, to education. I managed to record my son and daughter in a local school, and they have already begun classes.
The main problem is earnings. To find a decent job, you need good knowledge of the language. Another option is a reliable and highly paid freelance. However, in France there is a lot of simple work for any ages: for example, you can go wash the dishes for three hours a day or walk with someone’s dog. This is a democratic country, there are minimal restrictions on the cost of the working hour, so three hours of daily work (45 euros) is just enough to buy high -quality food with children for a day in a good store.
Here you seem to be reset and start all over again. I like the climate, like people and their attitude towards each other. The place itself is greatly charged. I understand that it will be difficult, but at the end of the tunnel there is light. I want to live here with my children and I realize that we will succeed.
