If you come to the Czech Republic for the first time or want to get to know the country more closely, be sure to visit others, in addition to Prague, places – many Czech cities are no less interesting than the capital, and each of them has its own unique charm. We bring to your attention five Czech cities, having visited which, you can get a good idea of the country.

I want to go to the Czech Republic!

Karlovy Vary

This small resort town, located on the very border with Germany, is not less popular among tourists (and the Russians may even more),

than the Czech capital. And this is not surprising – it is so comfortable here that I do not want to leave here at all. Karlovs Vary are famous for the branded waffles, ginger tincture Bechevka and, most importantly, thermal mineral springs (which Peter I also came to be treated).

If you do not plan to undergo wellness procedures, it will be enough to come here for one day – drink hot mineral water from sources, take a walk along the picturesque slopes, buy as a souvenir of waffles and tincture. Well, therapeutic courses, as prescribed by a doctor, can last 2 weeks and a month.

Croumli

Crochi-Krumlov is the second most popular city in the Czech Republic, but there are many times less tourists than in Prague.
When you walk along his narrow streets, it seems that the city is specially built for filming films about the Middle Ages, and a knight in armor is about to jump out of the corner, with a spear at the ready. Here, the spirit of aristocracy is in the air and I want to not rush anywhere, but simply to join the leisurely rhythm of the city and enjoy the environment.

The city is located 170 kilometers south of Prague, 25 kilometers from the Austrian border.

Kutna-Gora

In the Middle Ages, the city of Kutna-Gora was one of the largest European silver mining centers, but it is not at all famous. This small town (only about 20 thousand inhabitants live there),

Located 80 kilometers from Prague, owes one of the most unusual temples in the world – tourists come here to see the cemetery church of all saints, better known as Kostnitsa.

Outwardly, the church is not remarkable, but the interior decoration causes mixed emotions – from admiration to horror. The fact is that almost everything here: columns, chandeliers, arches, arches, crosses, and even the iconostasis are made of human bones.

The history of the appearance of the temple is quite curious – there was not enough space for the burial of everyone, since the city was considered sacred, and there was no end to the hoping to find the last refuge here. Therefore, the reburial of the remains became commonplace, but once one of the monks decided not to throw the old skeletons, but to decorate the interior with them. It all started with this. Relate to this interior design It is possible in different ways, but you can see this place definitely.

Karlstein

The Carlstein castle is only 30 km from Prague – this is perhaps the closest attraction to the capital. The castle was built in the Gothic style, but after restoration at the end of the 19th century, its appearance underwent significant changes-they say that Emperor Charles IV, who built the castle, would not recognize it in the current form.

In the castle you can visit the imperial palace, several towers (large, Marian, well),

The chapel of the Holy Cross, decorated with semi -delegal stones and the church of the Virgin Mary with medieval frescoes and royal chapel, trimmed with precious stones.

Pilzen

Many of the Czech cities are “the most sung” in some parameter, for example, in Pilsen there is the largest area in Europe. And also, if the Czech Republic is a world leader in terms of the consumption of beer per person, then its beer capital is the city of Pilsen.

It is here that the PLZEňSKY PRAZDROJ brewery is located, which produces the popular beer of the underlying fermentation (camp) – Pilsner Urquell. On the brewery, you can see the production process with your own eyes, and, of course, taste beer and snacks.

If the story of beer is interesting, then it makes sense to look at the brewery museum located in the very center. By the way, local residents love this drink so much that in Pilsen, in addition to numerous bars, there are even beer machines. True, you must first scan the identity card – the machine must make sure that you have reached 18 years. The device can recognize most international passports, including Russian ones.

Well, if you are lucky to be in the Czech Republic in October, then you will not go to Pilsen, because it is at this time that one of the oldest Czech Pilsner Fest beer festivals are taking place here.

Telch

Telch is another tiny (with a population of about 5500 people),

But at the same time, a unique and incredibly beautiful city in the Czech Republic. Telch has the status of the museum and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The historical center of the city is surrounded on both sides of the reservoirs, and with the third – a canal, and for the abundance of water around Telch is called Moravskaya Venice (Moravia – the eastern region of the country).

Photo: Zachariah Square from a grave

Local residents consider their main square to Zachariah of the grave of the most beautiful in the Czech Republic and in some ways, they are certainly right-here medieval buildings with impressive facades, the city town hall, carved stone fountains and the Mariana (plague) pillar. Also in the city there is a Telch castle, a park, a church, fragments of a fortress wall – in general, the sights are quite typical for the Czech Republic, but together they create a very pleasant impression. Still, UNESCO does not bring everything to his list.

Of course, this is far from all Czech cities, and if you are not limited in time, or want to make a large car travele in the Czech Republic, then also pay attention to Konopishta, Tabor, Liberets, Cheske-Budeovitsa, Brno, Olomouc, Ardshpakh. Nice travel!
