The blue flag is an international award that is awarded annually to beaches and berths, to swim on which is absolutely safe. If you see such a flag over the beach, you can be sure that the water here is clean and regularly tested, garbage is collected, sand is cleaned, and pets are not allowed. There are definitely showers on such a beach, and rescuers also work. And, most importantly, access here is absolutely free.
According to the latest rating, most of the beaches marked by the blue flag in Spain, then Greece, Türkiye, Italy and Portugal go. We found the best and most unusual beaches in these countries so that your summer vacation would go well.
Spain
In 2017, 578 beaches of Spain received a reward. On the one hand, this is 6 less than last year. On the other hand, this is a plus: the number of beaches has decreased, since the requirements for water quality were increased. Most of the beaches with a blue flag in Valencia (there are 129 there),

This year, France lost the second place in terms of the number of safest beaches: there were only 390 awards on her account (in 2016 there were 400 of them). The most marked with the blue flag of the beaches – 58 – in the region of Provence -Alpa – lazurn coast. In second place are oxide with 53 beaches.

But it’s worth it: the beach itself is amazingly beautiful. On the shore mostly small pebbles, sand only near the water itself. A separate plus is a small cafe with a good menu.
Portugal
Portugal this year got 277 blue flags. Most awarded the beach next to Albuyira (22),
In second place is the Vila-Do-Bishpu with 11 awards, closes the top three Lole leaders (10). At the same time, blue flags flutter over 55% of the country’s beaches.
