That is why, and also because of public holidays, this time is so popular among travelers of all stripes. Traveling to trips Of course, not only in Russia, but also abroad.

You can get to the seemingly distant Transcaucasus in just 3-3.5 hours. After all, that’s how long it takes a plane from Moscow to Yerevan’s Zvartnots.

We have obtained all the relevant information. And we are ready to share it right now!
Weather in Yerevan in May
Rarely leaves you wanting something more. As is the case if you intend to participate in as many city tours and surrounding areas. So it is when you try to just relax and get distracted – sleep for a long time, wander around a lot, taste authentic Armenian dishes: khorovats and kyufta, dolma and khash in cafes and restaurants.
Because the air temperature in Yerevan at the beginning of May is regularly above +20 degrees Celsius. And brief cold snaps cannot cancel the fact that the weather has finally come to Armenia. real spring.

By the middle of the month the atmosphere warms up to a stable +25 °C. And tourists relax so much that even during excursions to the foot of Ararat (it’s cold there, wah?) they forget their jackets at the hotel.
By the way, they are doing the right thing – the end of May in Armenia is marked by actual summer temperatures.
+25-30 °C – during the day, thermometers show something from this range. And at night they try not to shock tourists too much, showing values in the range from +15 to +22 °C.
Rain? In theory, they happen.
But the chance that the sky will be gently blue throughout your trip is immeasurably higher. Even purely statistically, there are at most 2-3 days of stormy days in Yerevan in May.
How to dress
As should be clear from the above, it’s almost summer-like. T-shirts and tops, light trousers and skirts, dresses – in May in Armenia and Yerevan in particular they wear everything summer.
So you can do a dress rehearsal of your vacation wardrobe before your main vacation!
Placed in a suitcase windbreaker or blouse have a good chance of being useful if you are going to look at the Singing Fountains on Republic Square in the evening. Because closer to sunset it gets cool!
And when traveling to the mountainous regions of Armenia, jackets and sweatshirts will not hurt in May.
Because, for example, visiting Khor Virap or taking pictures against the backdrop of Ararat is best in the morning – then excursion groups will arrive. And Noravank, like the red rocks surrounding it, look especially impressive at sunset.
For almost any trip outside of Yerevan, it will also come in handy. comfortable shoes. Something like this: it hugs your foot tightly and can prevent injury if you slip on a muddy rocky path.

Prices 2026
Air tickets for direct flights from Moscow to Yerevan and back during the May holidays cost about 40 thousand rubles (400 €) per person.
Which, of course, is unlikely to become an additional catalyst for travel, but at the same time it should not scare away – in modern times this is a fairly reasonable, justified price.
But prices in Yerevan hotels have increased. But they still look great cute – even compared to their Russian “colleagues”.
Family mini-hotels and private apartments are very affordable – against the general background, their price tag of 30-35 € per night looks incredibly attractive. Especially if you take into account that in many cases the center will be nearby.
By tradition, we recommend the well-located and inexpensive Yerevan’s Heart. Where a couple of travelers for 50 € per night will receive not only the keys to a cozy room, but also the right to enjoy a hearty breakfast every morning.
It makes sense for companies or families of up to 3-4 people to pay attention to Loft Host Yerevan. Where for the same 50 € they will have at their disposal a small but neat room with four beds.
Northern Avenue and authentic Abovyan Street are just a few minutes walk from here!
Participation in a 2.5-hour excursion around Yerevan costs about ~20 €. Taking a trip outside the city: to Garni and Geghard, to Lake Sevan or, for example, for a day to Etchmiadzin will also cost a not shocking amount of 25-30 €.
You can rent a car yourself for ~30-35 euros per day. And the longer the rental period, the less daily fee.
6-7-day tours to Yerevan for the May holidays cost from 90-100 thousand rubles for two travelers from Moscow. Moreover, the indicated amount sometimes includes not only flights and accommodation, but also breakfast.
The “cultural program”, naturally, is at the expense of the tourists themselves.
Things to do
You definitely need to start on foot walks around the city. Because tender pink, as if washed by the sun’s rays, Yerevan in May has every chance to be imprinted in your memory forever.

After all, in winter there is sometimes not enough daylight for “lighting”. And in the summer the sun shines so brightly that it seems to burn out the colors, making them not particularly saturated and even whitish.
This is if you take your time and eat up the impressions with harissa and dolma, delicious lamb shish kebab – traditional khorovats. And, of course, drink it too – people in Armenia love pomegranate wine. Well, the stronger one, of course, has stars.
We especially recommend organizing a rich program of out-of-town travel—it wouldn’t be a bad idea to go to Lake Sevan. After all, in May, mountainous Armenia is painted in such delicate and amazing fresh colors that it seems like you can’t get enough of it if you look all day long.
Where to go
But first, take a closer look – inspect Garni Temple and visit Geghard Monastery. And along the way, be sure to take a picture of yourself (at least with a smartphone camera) near the Charents Arch with Ararat in the background.
And it’s good if you can avoid catching someone else in the frame. Because the view from here to the biblical peak is so open that tourists take pictures from dawn to dusk.
By the way, near Garni there is a truly cool natural attraction. A gorge with basalt rocks visually reminiscent of an organ – the “Symphony of Stones”, partially hanging over the walking path, looks incredibly large and solemn.
And it’s even scary to imagine how loud the sound would be if this miracle of nature was actually an organ.
Every first tourist visiting Yerevan plans to get to Khor Virap to see Ararat. In this case, of course, it is better to plan so that the day is certainly clear.
Some people are unlucky with the weather in May. And then instead of Sis with Masis one has to observe the clouds covering them.

The Noravank monastery is usually paired with a trip to Khor Virap. If you are traveling around Armenia by car, then, of course, you will not fail to travel the extra 80 km in order to personally see the ancient religious complex and the amazing red rocks that surround it.
Citizens who do not like to drive can book a complex excursion Khor Virap-Areni-Noravank. To get a truly unique experience for a very modest fee of 30-35 €.
Keep in mind that during the 9-hour walk, guides sometimes tell incredibly interesting things about the history of places. They share information that simply cannot be found on the Internet!
Sevan and…
The Sevanank Monastery on the shores of the Armenian Sea is another famous landmark of the country. It is always included in inspection route Armenia is travelers who can afford to stay in the country for an “extra” day.
After a series of photos of Sevan, by the way, there is no need to immediately go back. Because just to the north, in a picturesque wooded gorge, lives the wonderful resort of Dilijan.
A nice old town that has preserved many traditional Armenian houses. Walking through its streets is like immersing yourself in history. The stone houses with carved wooden balconies are especially lovely; they were built in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
And the air in Dilijan is literally drunk; fortunately, we have never heard of factories in this area
Unless you have a flight home “in an hour,” stay overnight. You will have a wonderful rest, and the next morning you will have every reason to praise yourself for your decision.
Moreover, there are well-equipped hotels – the same Cozy House managed to earn a number of excellent reviews from Russian tourists.
The next day you can continue what you started – in the vicinity of Dilijan there are several ancient monasteries.
If you take the M4 highway, which leads in an easterly direction, you will first visit Haghartsin. And then the road will lead to another monastery, rarely mentioned by guidebooks – Goshavank.
