Minsk in July 2026 – is it worth going on excursions? Weather and reviews, air temperature, how to dress and what to take with you, prices in hotels and apartments. What to see and where to go in Minsk in the summer, what to do, where to go in Belarus – says Eurotraveler.
The thought of a holiday at sea inevitably comes to the mind of anyone who thinks about where to spend their summer vacation. However, when it comes to putting it into practice, it often turns out that the available alternatives look much more tempting. And at the same time – and cheaper!
So, if you are not too eager to swim and are indifferent (and maybe even negative) about spending many hours every day on the beach in order to get a chocolate tan, then why don’t you go in a slightly different – but still interesting – direction? For example, why not go to Minsk in July? And then further across Belarus?
The country is very interesting and in many ways even wonderful. And in the summer it is still so bright and blooming that the emotions from the trip can turn out to be absolutely exceptional and exciting!
Never considered this possibility before? Until recently, so did we!
But a trip to Minsk last summer seemed to make my eyes open wide. And realize how much we were previously deprived of.
However, closer to the facts!
Weather in Minsk in July
Very good for walks and excursions. If, however, you took the trouble in advance and became familiar with its features.
Because July in Minsk is the rainiest month of the year. And if you are arrogant to come to Belarus at this time without an umbrella and (or) raincoat – “why do they need them, it’s summer?” – then either get upset once or twice (and very much), or go to the store and buy what you need.
Because it rains quite often in the middle of summer, and it is far from decorative. And the average monthly precipitation in other years exceeds 80 mm.

Yes, such a simple weather disaster can easily be sat out in one of the local restaurants or cafes. Having tasted potato pancakes or sorcerers there to such a state that if your legs lead somewhere, then to a hotel room – to relax?
Although, of course, on a rainy day it is best to go to one of the Minsk museums: art or history. Or plan in advance for this time a long country excursion: to the same Brest and Belovezhskaya Pushcha. Well, either to Nesvizh and Mir, or to Grodno!
With all this, it is warm in Minsk in July. The air temperature during the day rarely drops below +20 °C. In many cases, it reaches +22-26 °C.
Air temperatures above +28 degrees Celsius are rarely recorded. But to be fair, in the second half of July in the capital of Belarus you can find a hot day or even two, when the atmosphere warms up to +30 °C.
The evenings and nights are noticeably cooler. Sometimes it’s so bad (no higher than +16-18 °C) that a jacket or sweatshirt brought from home looks “as if found.” Yes, in the evenings – and on other cloudy days, you would prefer to throw something over your shoulders rather than walk around in openly summer clothes.

What to take with you
We mentioned above about the extreme desirability of taking an umbrella and a raincoat with you on a trip, or at least a waterproof windbreaker with a hood. Also, something warming, like a light sweater or jacket, will probably not be superfluous.
Let us separately touch on the issue of shoes: you need to take with you not only sandals and sandals, but also something that will allow you to survive a rainy day without consequences and wet feet.
Will sun protection hats be required in Minsk in July? But what about – armed with a hat or cap, you will have a much more pleasant time crossing unshaded spaces. It is also probably worth taking sunscreen with you – in clear weather the sun is simply unbearable.
For those who can’t help but try to swim – if not in a hotel pool, then at least in the Minsk Sea – we recommend taking the appropriate accessories with you. Swimsuits and swimming trunks, beach towels.

Should you worry about roaming and figure out how much SIM cards cost in Belarus? We think this should only be done if you plan to get a card from one of the local non-sanctioned banks.
Because otherwise, the capabilities of a Russian SIM card should be enough for you (roaming for Russians is free). As a last resort, you can always connect to a Wi-Fi network in Minsk for free. Quite extensive, although still far from perfect…
Prices 2026
A baggage-free plane trip from Moscow to Minsk and back in early July will cost ~10 thousand Russian rubles. But if you think that you won’t fit into the 10-kilogram hand luggage limit, and this is very likely – in Belarus you can buy a lot of different useful things – it’s better to buy tickets a little more expensive – for ~13 thousand.
Train tickets cost from 5,000 rubles for a seat in the Lastochka (on Fridays and Sundays they fly in) and from 5,500 for a night reserved seat. And this is one way!
Such price lists convince us that traveling from Moscow to Minsk by car – and from many other Russian cities too – is more profitable even for a single tourist. And if you go on a trip with two or three of you, you can save a lot of money.
As for Minsk hotels and guest houses, we recommend booking rooms in them in advance, 2 months before the trip. Because otherwise you’ll have far fewer (much more expensive) options to choose from.
The standard price for a very small room for two is 3-4 thousand rubles. You can rent something near the city center (probably) for at least 5-6 thousand.
You can rent a separate one-room apartment in summer Minsk for 6-7 thousand a day; for a two-room apartment, prepare to pay about 9-10. And this is not surprising: Russians have “tasted” holidays in Belarus and are coming to the republic en masse for short (and not so short) vacations.
Excursions around Minsk cost from 1,400-1,600 Russian rubles per participant. A trip to the BelAZ plant or a visit to the cult castle complexes in Nesvizh and Mir will cost about 4,000.

What to see
Despite the significant likelihood of rain, there is no doubt that you will be able to implement a very rich excursion program. In any case, we, like the author of this review about a trip to Minsk in mid-July, succeeded – irecommend.ru/content/5-dnei-v-minske-kuda-skhodit-chto-posmotret-i-skolko-vse-eto-stoit.
Another reason is the obvious lack of people on the streets, at least on weekdays. Since Minsk residents themselves seem to leave en masse in summer for their dachas or warmer climes. And tourists at this time of year are much more interested in beaches…
It is likely that in such an environment you will not only want to quickly move from one place to another, but also decide to take a lot of relaxed walks. Interspersing promenades along the streets of a beautiful and at this time rather deserted city with meals in cafes.
Combining excursions with shopping. And – perhaps – even finding time to visit one of the Minsk museums.
Surely, Independence Avenue, the cathedrals of the Upper Town and the touching old houses of the Trinity Suburb will not go unnoticed. The Minsk Zoo is also popular, as is the Botanical Garden, which looks expectedly luxurious in the summer.
We also advise you not to miss the chance to look into the Loshitsa estate. In the middle of summer, it doesn’t seem to suffer from an overabundance of visitors.
Where to go
Most Russian tourists come to Minsk with far-reaching plans. In particular, many want to go and see Grodno at least for a day: with or without a tour.
Organized trips to Brest are also in high demand. It’s easy to organize an independent trip: to Khatyn or Dudutki, Mir and Nesvizh.
For those traveling to Belarus by car, we advise you to see less obvious remarkable places. For example, look into the restored Puslovsky Palace in Kossovo (the distance from Minsk is about 230 km). Or visit Ruzhany, where the residence of the rich Polish Sapega family seems to be gradually being reborn from the ashes.
