Chile is a champion state. Due to the features of the landscape, nature often falls into extremes here. This is the longest country (elongated from north to south by 4600 kilometers),
With the dry desert of the world (in the Pustama desert for centuries, precipitation does not fall out for centuries),
The highest-horned lake in the world (a reservoir in Okhos del Salado is located 6,390 meters above sea level). There are a lot of “most“ most-sides ”places and attractions, there is not enough ordinary vacation to inspect all the usual vacation. We have chosen the most interesting:
1. Hand of the desert
In the Chilean desert of the attack, 75 km south of the city of Antofagast, there is a monument, which least expects to meet a lone wanderer there. The monument to the despair and loneliness of a person in the sand – the desert’s hand – was set by the sculptor Mario Irararasabal here in 1992. If you bury the concrete giant in the sand, it is with such a gesture that he says goodbye to the world. Going to an inspection of sculptures (tourist groups are taken from Antofagast here),
Do not forget that in the desert for several tens of kilometers around there are no McDonalds or toilets. The desert hand is the only thing that reminds here of the presence of man.
2. National Park Torres del Pain
If the Jewish God had to plant Eden a second time, he would choose Torres del Pain. In 1978, the UNESCO commission recognized the Chilean National Park by a biosphere reserve. It seems that the most beautiful pieces of nature are collected here from all over lands: mountains and forests, glaciers and fjords, springs and lakes. The park laid several multi-day pedestrian routes-Torres del Pain is the most visited tourist place in Chile.

3. The largest pool in the world
Imagine a football field filled with water. Multiply by ten. You will receive the world’s largest open -air pool.
San Alphonso del Mar is located 100 kilometers west of the Chilean capital of Santiago. One kilometer in length, 77 thousand square meters of square – in the pool of such sizes you can not only swim, but also go sail. What the Chileans do: in San Alphonso del Mar, anyone can rent a catamaran or yacht and swim along a mirror even like a mirror. Despite the fact that the water for the pool climbs out of the Pacific Ocean, it is not salty and so transparent that the bottom is visible at any point.
4. Marble caves
Not far from the village of Chile-Chiko, 1500 kilometers from the Chilean capital, there is the best in Chile (or perhaps in the world) a place for kayaking-marble caves or a marble cathedral on Lake Carrera. In fact, the walls of the caves, which form a winding maze in the rocks of the peninsula, are not marble, but consist almost entirely of limestone. However, the glare of water on the blue arches give the complete impression that you are floating inside a fairy -tale marble palace. You can get to the caves on a boat, and in the depths of the labyrinth can only be caught in a small boat or kayak.
5. Easter Island
Welcome “to hell with the waders”: Easter Island is the most remote island from civilization. From the coast of Chile to the island more than three and a half thousand kilometers. Nature has deprived the island of a variety of plants and animals. A couple of dozens of species of sea birds are found here, and little is growing, except for weeds and mulberry trees. However, travelers do not seek here for beauty, but for a secret.
Easter Island is primarily known for its stone statues – MOIA. Ten and fifteen-meter statues in the form of human heads are turned by the heads to the sea, and with the nose deeper. Judging by the ruins of the ancient quarries, the statues were made from a compressed volcanic ash in the center of the island. How they managed to deliver them to the coast (the weight of some statues exceeds 200 tons) – scientists are still unknown.
6. Ghost city Hamberstone
In the north of Chile, in the middle of the desert, fifty kilometers from the nearest settlement (city of Ikika) is an abandoned city of Hamberstone. The city was founded at the end of the 19th century, when the Selitra deposit was found here. First, the miner village, then the town with the theater, the church and the railway station – Hamberstone quickly grew. And just as quickly empty when the residence lived. Having lost his earnings, people gradually left the city, leaving for them at home with the acquired property. Here and today you can go to any abandoned house and rummage in old chests, hoping to find some valuable souvenir.

7. Andian Christ
One of the rare examples when religion unites. The Andian Christ is a monument, which 100 years ago was erected on the Bermeno Pass in the Andes, laid the end of the war between Chile and Argentina.
At the beginning of the 20th century, two neighboring countries argued about the status of border territories. The dispute could end in war, but the ministers of the church intervened. The local bishop proposed to erect a monument on the border, which would be a symbol of friendship and reconciliation. Several thousand residents of Chile and Argentina gathered at the opening ceremony. The military of the two countries arrived in order to make a solemn volley. So Chile and Argentina entered into a settlement agreement.
8. Colony of penguins on the island of Magdalen
Perhaps this is the only accessible place on Earth where anyone can see such a number of penguins in one place at the same time. The island of Magdalena is located in the Magellan Strait, in the vicinity of Punta Arenas. Every year, at the end of October, almost 50,000 pairs of penguins get here to start offspring. By February, the island is covered with penguins with a continuous layer, like black snow. Penguins are engaged in their business and are not at all afraid of tourists who sailed here to look at them. You can get to the island as part of a tourist group on a ferry (2 hours one way).
9. Lunar Valley (Valle-de la-luna)
If you drive away 30 kilometers from the city of San Pedro in the direction of the center of the attack-the dry desert of the world, then you can take a walk along the moon.
The lunar valley – the so -called bizarre landscapes of this part of the desert for their resemblance to the lunar surface are called. For many millennia, water and winds have grinded stones and sand, the white color of salt lakes gives the valley even more similarity with a space landscape.
