In Williamstown, Kentukki, a new attraction was opened, striking in the audacity of the plan and the scale of execution – a copy of Noah’s novice ark is recreated.
There is no detailed description of what the ark looked like in the Old Testament, but its proportions are indicated there. And the American ark is built in strict accordance with them: 155.5 m (300 elbows or 510 feet) in length, 26 m (50 elbows or 85 feet) in width and 15.5 m (30 elbows or 51 foot) in height. The construction occupies an area of approximately one and a half football fields, and in height will be compared with a 5-story house. This is the largest frame building made in the world, as the authors of the project assure.

If the biblical plot is the salvation by the righteous from the World Flood of his family and all the animals that existed at that time by a couple of each species – to take as a historical fact, then many questions arise. For example, how much was the ship and how could Noah build it? Did he build it alone or were there assistants? How he collected animals, placed them on board and how he cared all this time, because the opportunity to go ashore introduced himself no earlier than a year later. And in general, how many animals were on board? And the supplies of food and water – how with them? The exposition located inside the ship is called to answer these and other questions. Three “residential” decks (again in accordance with Scripture) are divided into compartments, which are filled with figures of animals and birds. The family of “travelers” is also represented by the viewer – the wax figures of Noah, wives, three sons and daughter -in -law. Their possible life is simulated. It is curious to look at how, according to the authors of the exposition, a 500-year-old man could look, because it was so many years at the time of the beginning of the World Flood that was Noah. His sons are a hundred years old.

The ark opened for visitors in July. And the first 40 days – until August 15 – works until midnight. It is located in a picturesque park in Williamstown, which is halfway between Cincinnati and Lexington along the I-75 highway. The project website honestly warns that this location is not yet recognized by all GPS devices. A thematic addition to visiting the ark may be a trip to Museum of Creation of the World In Cincinnati. In fairness, it is worth saying that there is its noev ark in Europe – a project similar to American, works in the Dutch city of Dordrecht.
