What to see in St. Petersburg
St. Petersburg is a city with a richest cultural heritage, and there is no lack of sights and simply interesting places here. Usually the problem is the opposite – how to look as much as possible in a couple of days.
In addition to traditional tourist places, such as Nevsky Prospekt, Palace Square, the Admiralty building, Isaac and Kazan Cathedrals, there are many slightly less obvious locations.
New Holland
This is a small man-made island in the center of St. Petersburg, where a sea prison was used to be located, and now-a fashionable art cluster with many public spaces, boutiques, cafes and restaurants.
Peter and Paul Fortress
The fortress is located on the hare island and is simultaneously a former prison, the museum quarter and the UNESCO World Heritage Object. It is curious that the date of laying the fortress is also considered the date of the foundation of St. Petersburg, so this is the most historical center of the city.
Vasilievsky Island
This is the second in area from the numerous islands of St. Petersburg. In addition to the shooters of the Vasilievsky Island, which are chosen by tourists, there is something to see: Kunstkamera (the first natural -naval museum in Russia), Museum of Museum of Economics, Sphinxes at the Academy of Arts, the Lutheran Church of St. Ekaterina, Andreevsky Cathedral.
Grand Macket Russia
The museum, which is not a pity to spend three hours on an area of about 800 sq.m. Russia is represented in miniature and in all its diversity. From Kaliningrad to Vladivostok and from the Arctic to the southern borders – to look at carefully worked out models and dynamic scenes is a pleasure.
Suburbs
Peterhof, Tsarskoye Selo, Pavlovsk, Vyborg, Kronstadt-each of these suburbs is good in its own way. Someone more like the palaces and fountains of Peterhof, and someone wants to plunge into the Scandinavian atmosphere of Vyborg.
