Hurghada in July 2026 – is it worth going? Weather, sea and air temperature, reviews, what to take with you, prices for tours, air tickets, hotels. What to do and what to see in Hurghada in summer, is it worth booking excursions – says Eurotraveler.

It is believed that it is better not to go to Egypt in the summer. In any case, if you are not an extreme person by nature, you prefer moderate air temperatures and do not “digest” hot weather well.

In some reviews, however, you can find a completely polar opinion. Like in an African country it’s so dry climatethat +40 degrees (Celsius) is more easily tolerated here than +30 in Moscow. Well, or in London.

This or that? Based on our not very extensive experience, we can say that “yes” – dryness helps to endure high air temperatures relatively painlessly. But at the same time, we must say “no” – we will not go on vacation to Hurghada in Egypt (to Sharm el-Sheikh either) in July.

Because at this time and in this place in the world you need to concentrate exclusively on swimming and snorkeling and diving. At the same time, forgetting about things like exploring new interesting places and excursions in general.

The activity of tourists in Egypt in July is concentrated exclusively in hotels and on beaches. Moreover, you need to stay in the first ones all the time that is not occupied by visiting the second ones.

However, enough of the lyrics, let’s talk about business. And first of all, we intend to place

All i’s dotted

  1. What month is the best time to travel to Hurghada? It is believed that the best time to do this is at the end of April – the first half of May. And also in October and partly in November. But the number of those who want and spend their summer vacation on the shores of the Red Sea is constantly growing: either people have become more sun-resistant
  2. What month is the hottest in Egypt? July and August also apply for the “honorary” title. During these months, the air temperature at the resort can rise to +40 degrees Celsius and above, and the likelihood of rain is almost zero
  3. How windy is it in Hurghada in summer? Actually, not really. Again, gusts of wind at this time are perceived as a blessingbecause they make it easier to tolerate hot weather. As for rough seas and poor visibility under water as a result, this is also not about summer – you can swim and snorkel in June-August as much as you want and have the strength

The sea temperature in Hurghada in July reaches +29-30 degrees Celsius

Weather in Hurghada in July

During the day, the air temperature usually stays in the range of +35-37 degrees Celsius. On particularly hot days, the thermometer can rise above +40 degrees in the shade.

At night there is also no need to talk about any coolness – the temperature drops to only +28-30 °C. At the same time, the heat in Hurghada throughout July is really easier to toleratethan in tropical countries, because the climate in the resort (and in Egypt) is very dry.

Humidity is constantly low, and the wind blows frequently and strongly from the sea. It is this sea breeze that makes staying on the coast quite comfortable even in the wild heat.

Nothing flows down the back, clothes are dry (if you don’t swim in them). There is a feeling of being fried in a frying pan over a fire, but you get used to it quickly. Again, if at all able to digest temperatures above +35 on an ongoing basis.

Rains are not only unlikely, during this period of time they seem to not exist at all, except perhaps in fantasies. Daylight hours are about 13 hours.

Throughout July, the sun rises over Hurghada around 6 am. And he “goes to bed” at 19.45-19.30.

Which seems to make it possible to occupy the day with a lot of useful and exciting things. There’s just one problem: I don’t really want to go anywhere in such heat, even to Luxor or the pyramids. And there are enough places to go in Hurghada for about one evening.

Okay, we called it a disaster for the sake of saying it. After all, when there is such a warm and clean sea nearby, there will be something to do. Guaranteed!

Opinions on this matter can be read, for example, in this review – irecommend.ru/content/khurgada-nedorogoi-gorod-s-krasiveishim-i-chisteishim-krasnym-morem-prekrasnymi-peschanymi-p.

It is better to swim in Hurghada in the summer in the morning and evening

Water temperature

in the Red Sea in July near Hurghada it reaches +28-29 degrees Celsius. Provoking swimming, as well as snorkeling and diving literally from dawn to dusk.

Swimming, however, even just leaving an unshaded space during the daytime is risky here. Therefore, it is best to devote yourself to taking sea baths early morningas well as pre-sunset hours.

Without losing sight of the fact that swimming in these waters is (a little) risky. For sharks attacked people in Hurghada. Although, fortunately, they have recently moderated their activity.

You also need to bring sunscreen with you to Egypt (if not, buy it on the spot) and other various things with long sleeves and made from natural materials. The very ones that should and will protect your skin from baking under the rays of the unbearably hot Egyptian sun.

Here is the weather forecast in Hurghada for the coming days.

Prices 2026

evoke pleasant thoughts like “even I can afford it.” But in fact, why not – the amount of about 130-150 thousand per ruble for a vacation for two in a 4-5-star hotel, provided “ultra all inclusive” does not look high?! Moreover, flights and transfers are also included in the check, and the area of the room in which you are offered to stay will probably exceed 40 m2?

How much will independent travelers pay for a summer holiday in Hurghada? It all depends on where they are starting their trip from. If from the capital of Russia, Moscow, then for flights to Hurghada and back in early July you will have to pay about 40 thousand rubles (~400 €).

Transportation from other countries and cities may cost even less – check on the websites of your favorite airlines. Well, or aggregators – depending on what you like best.

Hotel prices do not decrease compared to spring and even June. Why, sometimes they actually grow (it all depends on the specific situation in the world). So, you will probably be lucky if you manage to book a room in a good hotel for 100 € per day.

For our part, we recommend the tried and tested and very good 3-star hotel Giftun Azur Resort. With free transfers from the airport, as well as all-inclusive meals.

In summer you don’t want to go sightseeing in Hurghada - it’s too hot

Excursions and activities

Taking part in a trip through the desert on an ATV (if you might be interested, under the scorching sun) will cost 15-20 € per person. About 25 € per person is charged for a yacht cruise to Giftun Island.

Where you will be invited to snorkel among coral reefs in an amazingly clear sea for several hours. Lunch and drinks are included in the price of the entertainment.

Worth knowing

July is considered one of the hottest months in Egypt, so your travel experience largely depends on what exactly you expect from your vacation.

If relaxation, tranquility, turquoise sea, fantastic beautiful sunsets, and velvety summer nights, swimming and lazy beach existence, then summer Hurghada may appeal to you very much. If your expectations are connected with active walks, excursions to famous Egyptian attractions, then it is very likely that you will be disappointed.

After all, the local heat is guaranteed to become a serious obstacle to any energy-consuming activities

The sun here in July is extremely aggressive, and this cannot be underestimated. Inexperienced tourists (again, it’s not so easy to think in the heat) often make the mistake: on the first day after arrival, after sleeping, they go to the beach and lie there in the sun for a long time. Believing that since they took it with them and even applied sunscreen, they were in no danger.

Alas, they are quickly convinced of the fallacy of such an assessment. And, having received sunburn, they then spend several days in the room receiving treatment.

To prevent this from happening, on holiday in Hurghada in the summer it is important rebuild the rhythm of life under the vengeful climate.

Well, during the day, if they “stick their nose” out into the street, it is without enthusiasm – even the pyramids and Luxor at this time almost completely lose their charm in the eyes of vacationers.

In the evening, when the sun sets, the resorts of the African country – and Hurghada is no exception – come to life again. And although even after sunset the air temperature remains high – about +30 degrees Celsius – in the absence of sunlight, reality begins to be perceived in a slightly more positive light.

In July, Egypt comes alive only in the evenings

Things to do

Those who are planning to visit Egypt in the middle of summer need to think about this question truly comprehensively. Because – I tested it myself – in conditions of even dry, but very intense heat, there is no time for visiting remarkable places, going to temples and seeing the pyramids.

In any case, when mentally listing all the interesting places in Egypt, no positive response is generated. And a sun lounger under an awning, overlooking the sea and a steamed glass of cocktail looks much better more preferable.

The desert climate, the bright sun and the same – the sea – make you feel and perceive reality in a special way. Impressionable citizens note in their reviews that in Egypt time is perceived differently.

The days become long and lazy, and evening walks or even gatherings by the sea are more memorable than any sights.

A trip to Hurghada in July may be especially interesting for beginners, and even experienced photographers.

After all, the light here is very bright and intense, especially at sunset. The sea changes shades from deep blue to almost turquoise. Desert landscapes look completely cinematic.

What to see

In theory, you can force yourself and go see the rich exhibition of the recently opened Great Egyptian Museum in Giza. But… perhaps this can be postponed – for example, until a trip to Hurghada in December. When literally nothing can distract you from studying ancient Egyptian rarities.

As for more accessible activities, the main ones, of course, will be related to the Red Sea, which is rightly considered one of the most beautiful in the world. Even if you have never snorkeled or dived before, Hurghada makes you want to try it.

Yes, perhaps the underwater world here is not as rich as in Sharm el-Sheikh. But in any case, underwater you will be able to see coral reefs, colorful fish, even stingrays.

Moreover, sometimes you don’t even have to go on a long cruise to do this – in some places the reefs start almost near the hotel beach. So all you need to do is put on your mask and fins and get into the water.

You can make a stronger move – take it and go diving in Hurghada. The resort has plenty of schools and instructors: there are programs for both beginners and experienced divers.

In addition to diving and snorkeling, sea excursions are popular in Hurghada in summer. For example, trips to the Giftun Islands near the coast.
