Many countries soften coronavirus restrictions on entry. Therefore, now trips have become available not only for tourists, but also for many companies. For example, from June 1, 2022, Italy, Spain, France and Hungary opened the issuance of visas to the Russians.

However, this does not cancel the possibility of obtaining a visa refusal. It often happens that the employee issued a business trip, purchased tickets, booked a hotel, and before leaving he was refused a visa. Refusal of a visa to a business trip: how to return the money?

In most cases, if a visa refuses to return money for tickets and accommodation at the hotel, it is possible. However, there are several nuances.

Refund for flights

There are a forced and voluntary return of air tickets. When forced to return, you cannot make a flight for the following respectful reasons:

• passenger disease;
• death of the closest relative;
• cancellation or change of flight;
• Refusal of a visa.

As you can see, a visa refusal is considered an insurmountable circumstance, so a refund for a ticket is possible if the passenger appeals to the airline no later than 24 hours before the flight. In this case, the passenger is returned to the entire amount, except for the service fee for the receipt of the ticket.

Keep in mind that recently airlines are often practiced by making a return not with money, but in the form of a certificate or voucher for future flights.

Return of “irrevocable” tickets

If you purchased a ticket at the irrevocable tariff, then with a voluntary refusal of the flight or when canceling at a certain time the cost of the tariff is not returned at any case (for example, after departure or when not appearing on a flight), and some of the repayable taxes are calculated.

However, if there is a good reason, you can also arrange a forced return of the irrevocable ticket.

What documents are needed when issuing a forced return

To return the ticket, you need to collect the following documents a day before departure:

• Passport;
• A copy of the air ticket;
• Refund application;
• Official confirmation of the refusal from the consulate is a copy of the stamp in the passport and a document with a seal.

Be prepared for the fact that the carrier can also request additional documents.

Return of money for living in a hotel

The return is easier with the hotel, since it all depends on the reservation conditions that the hotel itself sets.

Many hotels return the money, holding a certain part. For example, they take a deposit when booking and in case of refusal, the deposit does not return.

There are also hotels in which the entire amount will be returned to you if you made a refusal no later than the set deadline (usually 24 hours before the settlement). You can cancel the reservation on the hotel website or housing aggregator.

Alas, in the case of irrevocable armor, not everything is so unambiguous. Despite the fact that the refusal of the visa is considered a good reason, the refund will depend on the rules of the hotel and the rental of housing renting, as well as their desire to meet you.

You can send a letter by e -mail and explain your situation. It is likely that they will help you and offer you to accrue points in your personal account for the design of the armor in the future. Or they will help postpone the dates of the trip with the maintenance of the cost. A complete refusal to return funds is not excluded, since each case is individual.
