Yalta in April 2026 – Is it worth going on vacation? Weather and reviews, air and water temperature, how to dress, is it possible to swim? Prices in hotels and guest houses, for excursions. What to do and what to see in Yalta in mid-spring and on the threshold of May, where to go in Crimea – says Eurotraveler.

“It was April, we lived in Yalta,” begins Yuri Kazakov’s story. Almost forgotten now, but actually a gorgeous Soviet short story writer.

The texts of which today torment Russian schoolchildren, asking them to highlight complex sentences.

However, that’s not the point – having read at least the beginning of the work the atmosphere will amaze you April Yalta. Southern, blooming and relaxed, and therefore intriguing and exciting.

Permeated with spring, the spicy, intoxicating aroma of hope for the imminent arrival of summer

Is it warm? Judging by the “dudes in colored shirts” – to a sufficient extent. But those were the 60s of the 20th century…

Today, April in Yalta, although it remains an extremely romantic time, cannot boast of special warmth and high air temperatures. Well, maybe at the end, closer to the May holidays.

That does not prevent him from remaining very much in demand. After all, there are still a lot of tourists wandering aimlessly and enjoying life on the streets and embankments of the blossoming spring Yalta.

So much so that they themselves tend to get irritated by this – how is it that we longed for peace and solitude?! Just wait until May – maybe there will be more!

Weather in Yalta in April

At first glance (at the statistics of recent years) it is not very encouraging: no heat is expected, and frosts cannot be ruled out at night. And so on for most of the month!

In early April, the air temperature in Yalta on rare days creeps over the level of +10 °C – it’s time to wonder – is this really a southern resort?! A little later, fluctuations with surges of up to +12-16 °C are possible.

Only after April 25th does the weather seem to decide not to torment anyone and confidently raises the readings of street thermometers upward. True, they do not always manage to reach the +20 degrees Celsius level before the onset of May Day.

The nights in April are cool – prepare for this for lovers of evening promenades under the lanterns and contemplation of the excitingly rustling and incredibly smelling, but invisible sea. From +3 to +6 °C is the usual range, up to +10-12 °C – only if you are very lucky.

In this case, a light jacket will help little, if at all – near the sea it is 1-3 degrees colder. And even a sweater or pullover worn under a jacket may not save you – stock up on more warm clothes.

Especially if your plans include a hike to the Valley of Ghosts or a hike to Ai-Petri. Where, even if you arrive there by cable car, wearing windbreakers, you will freeze!

Speaking of raincoats and hoods: rain in mid-spring seems to be rare – statistically no more than 40 mm. And therefore Yalta should be named in April very dry place.

Theoretically, reviews regularly include stunned “it was pouring rain” and “we couldn’t leave the hotel.” That is, such remarks are found much more often than “the weather was good all the time.”

This should not be surprising – Yalta is like that. Capricious, wayward, and therefore, of course, beloved by everyone.

As for the degree of warming up of the Black Sea in April, we cannot console it with anything – the temperature of the water area will not exceed +10-12 °C. Obviously, nature at this time is not inclined to encourage swimming in open water.

Prices 2026

You can rent a room for two or even a separate apartment in Yalta in April with only 3-4 thousand rubles per day. This is subject to early booking – by February, inexpensive properties are usually already sold out.

And then you just have to agree to one and a half to double overpayment. Or consider offers in neighboring cities like Livadia, Gurzuf, Alupka.

This is not the worst option, by the way – in the sense that it is quiet. And you can get from there to Yalta by minibus or trolleybus in 10-15 minutes.

In the spring there are few tourists in Crimea, and you can see the Swallow’s Nest without a crowd

Train tickets from Moscow to Simferopol will cost 4.5-5 thousand for a seat in a reserved seat and 8.5-9 thousand for a compartment. This is for one person and only one way.

You will have to pay another 3 thousand rubles for a taxi if you want to cover the final stretch of the journey to the sea “with the breeze.” Read about inexpensive ways to get from Simferopol to Yalta in our review.

The cost of a taxi makes you wonder if you should rent a car? After all, this pleasure in the middle of spring is not particularly expensive, and a four-wheeled friend will greatly expand the traveler’s horizons.

Because there are a lot of beautiful places in Crimea that can only be reached by car!

Obviously, a convinced car enthusiast will not hesitate. Fortunately, today a trip by car to Crimea has become the most convenient and safest way to get there…

Week-long tours around Crimea in April will cost at least 50-55 thousand rubles for two. For this money you can make a very eventful trip around the peninsula and see a number of its main attractions.

Train tickets to the peninsula are, however, not included in the indicated amount. Yes, and you will have to purchase insurance for additional money.

Things to do

If you think that a week of relaxation at the sea, but without the opportunity to swim in it, you will definitely get bored, then this is not so. After all, Yalta is not just the most cheerful city in Crimea, replete with discos and nightclubs almost of the Moscow format (and why be surprised, they are organized here by Muscovites)!

But it’s also literally packed with attractions.

By wisely planning your route, you can see so much in Yalta and nearby that people go home not only in confusion, but under a strong impression. And in many reviews you can literally read through the lines the desire to stay longer.

Just a walk along the Yalta streets, lined with cute houses and entire mansions of a bygone, immensely interesting era, brings not even pleasure, but pleasure. And in April, when plum and peach orchards are blooming everywhere, and the air is filled with wonderful aromas, it resembles some kind of delicious treat.

A blissfully contemplative mood will certainly visit you on one of the seaside promenades like the Sunny Path. After, for example, half an hour of contemplation like a chameleon of the changing colors of the Black Sea.

Sunny path - in Yalta in Crimea in April you can not dress very warmly

Climbing along the (officially health-improving) Botkin Trail also perfectly warms up the body. Quite a difficult activity, but one that always leaves a wonderful “aftertaste.”

Moreover, you won’t have to get bored in the long line at the ticket office and then walk around in the crowd – it’s not the season, sir… And along the way, you can take a boat ride on the sea!

  • Where can you go for a day from Yalta

Mountains

Everyone is the first to strive to climb Ai-Petri on their own. Even the one who has stood on the top of this legendary Crimean plateau more than once is a kind of Yalta ritual.

Although in the city itself there is a funny, almost toy-like cable car with tiny cabins…

Most people want to climb Ai-Petri by cable car from Yalta (that is, from Miskhor, of course). But those who are active and fit will certainly go for the assault on foot – along the Koreiz or the more demanding Taraktash trail.

And they will be right – in the mountain forests in the middle of spring the air is literally intoxicating. Well, that is, and refreshing, of course!

If you come on vacation with children, go to the Yalta Zoo “Fairy Tale”. Moreover, it is located next to the entrance to the Botkin Trail.

The zoo may well become part of a walking route that also includes a visit to the Stavri-Kaya rock formation and the Uchan-Su waterfall. Not just the highest in Crimea, but also full of water in the middle of spring.

Where to go

On a clear day, be sure to visit Cape Fiolent behind Balaklava – its sand-colored rocks look amazing against the backdrop of the turquoise sea. And actually Balaclava in April is miraculously beautiful – like a blossoming beauty.

You can also spend 1 day exploring Sevastopol. And it’s definitely worth visiting Bakhchisarai.

After all, the roses in the garden of the Khan’s Palace are already blooming at this time. And the views around from the tops of the table mountains, on which famous cave cities like Chufut-Kale or Eski-Kermen are located, are simply breathtaking!
