Yerevan in September 2026: weather and reviews, air temperature. Is it worth going on vacation, how to dress, what to take with you, prices for air tickets and hotels. What to do and what to see in Yerevan and Armenia in September, where to go and visit first – says Eurotraveler.

Yerevan is a soulful city. Warm!

Not only because of the climate, which, however, we will also praise. But mainly because of the general atmosphere. The feeling of something very diffused in the air big kind and bright, truly good.

Tourists who have experienced this once are eager to visit the capital of Armenia again, although there are not so many attractions there. And those who are especially prudent come to relax in Yerevan in September, when it’s warm—often hot—and very sunny time.

When summer has not yet given up its positions, and a fruitful autumn has already arrived.

It is not surprising that September is considered by many to be the best month for a tourist trip to Yerevan. If, of course, they can afford it due to their line of work.

Are there any significant differences from the summer months? There are not so many of them: perhaps it rains less, and walks in the evening begin to bring sheer pleasure. For with sunset, blessed coolness descends on the Armenian capital.

As for daytime activities, they still need to be planned with extreme caution. After all, the sun is hot as if it doesn’t even want to hear about the onset of calendar autumn!

Prices? They are declining, but not too willingly. You should only count on significant discounts if you arrive in Yerevan at the end of September.

When the bulk of tourists have already firmly decided that the travel season is over before the November or New Year “windows”. And with (enthusiasm?) I set about making money…

Worth knowing

  • Is it possible to swim in Armenia in September? Actually yes! At the beginning of the month, the water in the country’s largest reservoir, the high-altitude Lake Sevan, maintains a temperature of about +21-22 degrees Celsius. But in the middle and end of the month the water area rapidly cools down: first to +18-19, and then to just +17 °C

Weather in Yerevan in September

There is only one regret – the sea or at least an impressive-sized body of water suitable for swimming would definitely not be in the way. Because in view of air temperatures above +30 °C, the desire to freshen up inevitably settles in the mind.

In early September, Yerevan has been witnessing simply deafening heat — during the first 5-7 days the air temperature can reach +32-36 degrees Celsius. Then, however, everything returns to acceptable limits, and thermometers even in the middle of the day show no higher than +24-27 °C.

Cascade and square - the air temperature in Yerevan in September rises to +30-35 degrees Celsius

However, during the day they rarely try to drop below this level. But at night they disciplinedly show about +21-23 °C at the beginning of the month and only +14-16 °C closer to October.

It is curious that similar warm weather occurs in the capital of Armenia almost every September. And the picture differs only in minor details.

Which can be briefly described in one phrase – will the air temperature rise above +30 °C today or will it not happen?

The rains are not that weak – they almost incredible. And during the whole of September there is 1 or 2 light rains in Yerevan. Which are practically not written about in reviews, because they do not violate anyone’s plans.

Thunderstorms? In theory, it is possible that at the beginning of autumn you will see such a natural phenomenon in Yerevan. Bright, but short-lived – in the vast majority of cases they last no longer than an hour.

Air humidity is at a good, fairly healthy level (about 50-60%). This allows even small children and people with poor health to tolerate air temperatures above +30.

The winds seem to be dormant during this period. And in most cases it is quiet, practically calm weather.

Lots of sunny, clear days. So, in tourist luggage, in addition to a large amount of light summer clothing, there should be long-brimmed hats and caps with large visors. And so does sunscreen!

Fruits

The assurances of the guidebooks are supported by the personal experience of the authors of this material – in September, when visiting the markets of Yerevan, your eyes should run wild from the variety. Because the trays are literally bursting with the gifts of nature!

What fruits and berries ripen in Armenia in September?

In Armenia, new wine is made in September

Of course, you will hardly see apricots anymore – their season has passed! But you can treat yourself to sweet and juicy peaches that melt in your mouth. The store shelves are also full of plums, apples and pears, melons and watermelons. In the very juice, ripe and aromatic, juicy and sweet!

Figs also ripen at this time. In September peaks and the grape harvest season – it is not for nothing that Armenia is considered a wine-producing country and produces excellent cognac. As well as wine and other alcoholic drinks, it’s worth bringing mulberry from Yerevan and trying machar right on the spot (it doesn’t tolerate transportation well).

But the season of pomegranates and persimmons in Armenia begins a little later – in October…

Prices 2026

Direct flights on the Moscow-Yerevan route and back (the journey takes up to 4 hours) in September will cost ~35-40 thousand rubles for each adult passenger and his luggage. Provided, of course, that you buy them in the summer or even in May.

For about €35-40 per day you can rent a room in a good hotel in the city center or even a small separate apartment. For example, this is what they ask for at Hotel Victoria. Located next to the metro (which is a huge plus on a hot day) and just a 10-15 minute walk from the city center.

Do you want to stay closer to Freedom Square and the famous Cascade? Then you should reserve a slightly larger amount for accommodation (from €55-60 per night) and “knock on the doors” of RIS Central Apartments Yerevan. Disposing everything you need for a comfortable stay – including an equipped kitchen and a set of tableware.

Prices for excursions are also quite affordable. For just €20 per person, they will take you on an intense sightseeing tour of Yerevan and introduce you to the main attractions of the city. And for €35-40 you and your guide can see other interesting places in Armenia: the Garni Temple and the Geghard Monastery, the high-mountainous Lake Sevan.

It is also not particularly difficult to organize a trip on your own. Since car rental in Yerevan costs from €27-30 per day in the fall!

Things to do

We will not say that the beginning of September in Armenia is exceptionally suitable for long excursions in the fresh air. But we will not deny the existence of such a possibility – everyone must evaluate their own ability to endure heat up to +35 °C without consequences.

From the second ten days of the month until October, the heat, as mentioned above, somewhat reduces the speed. Than, of course, should take advantage every inquisitive tourist.

Of course, you should not focus only on exploring Yerevan, although it is friendly, bright and really captivates a person with an open soul – irecommend.ru/erevan-instruktsiya-po-primeneniyu.

But also plan out-of-town excursions. Fortunately, in the vicinity of the Armenian capital and relatively close to it there are many truly unique places.

The Etchmiadzin Monastery in Vagharshapat is protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site – whc.unesco.org/ru/list/1011. And also other shrines: the ancient Orthodox churches of Gayane, Hripsime and Shogakat.

On the way to or from this city, you can also explore the ruins of the “Temple of the Vigilant Angels” in Zvartnots. According to archaeologists, one of the oldest Christian churches in the world.

The ancient Roman temple in Garni is deservedly popular among tourists and has beautiful proportions. Extremely original and located there basalt canyonlooking like a giant church organ.

On the way to Garni from Yerevan you should – especially in September – stop near the Charents Arch. And capture yourself against the backdrop of the snowy peaks of the legendary Ararat. As if floating in the warm and clear autumn air.

The Geghard Temple is traditionally on the list of what to see first in Armenia. Moreover, it is located near the capital of the country and can be visited in a few hours.

Long trips

Equally, you will almost certainly not miss the opportunity to take a closer look at Ararat – from the walls of the ancient Khor Virap monastery.

It is better to set aside a full day for a trip there. Because it is worth including one more monastery on the route – Noravank. Standing in a gorge with red rocks that captivates with its beauty.

Lake Sevan? Even if you are not a big fan of trout, you should visit the “Armenian Sea” at least once in your life!

At the beginning of autumn, we advise you to spend a day or two in a resort town Dilijan. An exceptionally positive place that perfectly treats mental trauma, which is rarely reached by tourists who are always in a hurry.

By the way, you can visit both Sevan and Dilijan as part of an organized one-day tour from Yerevan. Exceptionally inexpensive – participation will cost €30-40.

Well, that’s not all. After all, you can easily turn your trip to Armenia into a real trip to Transcaucasia!

Because to get from Yerevan to Tbilisi (train, bus, car), the capital of Georgia, all you need is desire. And not too much money.
