Where Uncle Ali lives, or mysterious fees
In December, I became a member of the Kudablin project from OneTwotrip. My subscribers were offered to choose a direction for the trip. There were 3 cities for the letter “F”: Fes, Frankfurt and Florence. Most of the votes were for Morocco. So I flew to Fes!
TAP Portugal flight with a transplant in Lisbon. I flew alone on 3 seats, it was super!
Oh yes, I completely forgot about the purpose of the trip! I needed to find Uncle Ali’s house from the series “Clone”. Remember this? Brazilian passions. According to the plot, the main character comes to Morocco to her uncle and lives with his family in a huge Riad. I went to look for him!
The first impression of the airport is beautiful and surprisingly modern! But when I took a taxi and went to the hotel, everything fell into place. A chaotic movement, children who knock on the windows and ask for money, and the driver singing Arabic songs 🙂 When we drove to the old city, the taxi driver asked for a hotel room, said that I myself could not find him. It scared me. In the city of Fes, the most confusing historical center of the city in the world! When an employee of the hotel came, we walked for only 5 minutes, but made 20 turns, went down and climbed 5 different stairs, walked along the dark alleys and eventually went into some very unacceptable door. But the hotel was stunningly beautiful! I chose Riad Rcif.
The next morning, on the advice of the hotel’s employees, I took the Medina guide. And it was right! Walking there alone would not be the best decision.
We walked along the confusing paths of Fes Medina, looked at the old city, bought some fruits from local merchants and even looked at the Moroccan carpet store. The excursions are very inexpensive: 3 hours with a personal guide cost me about 800 rubles.
And now about the main thing! The disappointment of the year: Uncle Ali at home from the series “Klon” does not exist! Now I know this absolutely for sure. It was just a decoration, built and inspired by Fes Moroccan. I tried to recreate him in the particles, somewhere I took off similar arches, somewhere tiles.
The disappointment of the year number two: the inhabitants of the city of Fes generally have no idea what kind of series it is! He was not transferred to Arabic and even into English. So he is simply inaccessible to them.
But to conduct an investigation and recognize all this from the locals – it was a real buzz and a way out of the comfort zone! Thanks to Onetwotrip for sending me on the trip “Kudablin”. Memories for life!
