A huge complex of fountains located at the Big Peterhof Palace and there is a famous Peterhof cascade. This is a wonderful building an integral part of the entire palace and park complex of Peterhof.
All the beauty of this structure consists of many golden sculptures of people, a large number of heroes of mythical stories. And all this is decorated with amazing compositions of the stream of water of the fountains. You can also see a very interesting combination of water flow overflows over the famous sculpture called “Samson, tearing his mouth to the lion. “
Not far from the Peterhof cascade there are many other fountains, but all of them are not so famous and not significant for the history of the development of the culture of the Russian Empire. This unique cascade was built as a sign of the Great Victory in the Northern War over Sweden. Thanks to this event, the territory of Russia was able to expand its lands and enter the Baltic Sea. And today, every day, this magnificent creation reminds us of the history of our ancestors.
In order to glorify the victory in the Battle of Poltava, Peter the Great in 1735 decided to put the monument. This event occurred 20 years later, after the Russian people won this battle.
The main idea of the cascade is the central figure Samson, who defeated Leo. Around this sculpture there are fountains in the form of dolphins. From these dolphins, jets of water are erupted towards the statue of Samson. There are also on the territory of the cascade 29 sculptures mythological ancient creatures. In addition, here you can see the statues of the Greek gods.
